DU Admission 2026: The process of Undergraduate (UG) admission for the academic session 2026-27 has started in Delhi University (DU). Students who have appeared for CUET (UG) 2026 examination and want to take admission in colleges of Delhi University, will have to register on the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) 2026 portal.

Meanwhile, a big update has also come out for those CBSE Class 12 students who had applied for re-evaluation of their board results and are still waiting for the revised results. Delhi University has given necessary information to such students regarding the admission process. So let us know what the students waiting for CBSE r-evaluation result should do?

What should students do who are waiting for CBSE r-evaluation result?

Delhi University has said that CBSE students who have got the re-evaluation of class 12 result, but the revised result has not been released yet, should enter their old i.e. before r-evaluation board number on the CSAS portal. When the revised result is released by CBSE, then students can update their marks.

DU gave this advice to students

Delhi University’s Admission Dean Haneet Gandhi said that students whose r-evaluation results have not yet come, there is no need to worry. He told that the CSAS portal will remain open for several weeks. In such a situation, students will be able to easily update their marks after the release of the revised result. Along with this, Delhi University has made it clear that the main score for undergraduate admission will be CUET (UG) 2026. Class 12 marks will be used only to decide whether the student has passed 12th. Apart from this, if CUET marks of two or more students are same, then in case of tie-breaker, 12th marks can be used.

Also read – CBSE Re-evaluation 2026: CBSE made a mistake again! Vedanta increased 2 marks in the subject for which it was not applied, copies had been changed earlier

Admission will be given on the basis of CUET score

The university has made it clear that admission to all undergraduate courses will be based on the score of CUET (UG) 2026. Along with this, the candidates will also have to fulfill the eligibility conditions prescribed for the course in which they want to take admission. Information about all these conditions is given in the University’s Information Bulletin 2026.

How to register on CSAS portal?

According to Delhi University, candidates can register on the CSAS portal only with the help of their CUET (UG) 2026 application number. The application process has started from 26 June 2026. Delhi University has started the process of admission in 73 undergraduate programs and more than 100 BA programs in 67 colleges for the academic session 2026-27. This time admission will be done on about 71 thousand undergraduate seats.

CUET Exam 2026: The result for the year 2026 is going to be released soon for lakhs of CBSE class 12th students. Along with the excitement about the results, there is also some worry among the students because only after this the real race for college admission begins. Especially to get admission in Delhi University, JNU and other top colleges of the country, students need good marks. According to reports, CBSE 12th result may be released by mid-May. However, the admission process into India’s top universities has changed significantly over the years, and board scores alone no longer decide admission to higher education.

Method of admission in DU, JNU and top colleges

Entrance exams like CUET are playing a major role for admission in big institutes like Delhi University and JNU, which is completely based on merit and entrance score. Whereas CBSE marks are now used only as an indication to show eligibility and educational level and not for final selection. On one hand, this change has made things clear among the students, but on the other hand it has also increased some confusion. Earlier there used to be a lot of worry about cut offs in colleges like Delhi University, now that pressure has reduced. But now it has become more important to do well in a single entrance exam, due to which the competition has increased further. Therefore, it is important for the students of 2026 to prepare equally for both board exams and entrance exams, so that they can remain in the race to get admission in good colleges.

Also read: Want to get a job in Facebook, know how much is the starting salary?

Role of board and CUET in DU

For UG admission of Delhi University in 2026, 12th board exam marks will not be used directly in making merit, but it will be necessary to pass the board exam. Admission will be solely based on the score of CUET (UG) 2026, which will be done through Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). However, if the CUET scores of two candidates are equal, then in such a situation the marks of 12th and now 10th will be used to break the tie. Apart from this, for some specific courses, the university can also say that it is necessary to have a minimum percentage in the board examination, completion of which will be mandatory.

Admission process in JNU and other colleges

Admission to most of the courses in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is based on CUET score. Here CBSE marks are mainly used only to check eligibility. However, students who have good academic standing often perform better in entrance exams. Therefore, many successful candidates get around 75 to 90 percent marks in CBSE, but this is not a mandatory condition. For admission in JNU, candidates are required to choose Section IA (English) and Section III (General Test) in CUET exam.

Method of admission in other universities

Similarly, the same method is adopted in Jamia Millia Islamia, Banaras Hindu University and many private universities. CBSE marks only reflect the aptitude and academic level, but the actual selection depends on the performance in CUET. Therefore, even if a student has normal marks in 12th, he can still get admission in a good college by scoring well in the entrance exam.

Every year millions of students prepare for admission to graduate courses at Delhi University (DU). This time in 2025, Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (Cuet UG 2025) is going to be organized for admission. This exam will be between 8 May to 1 June 2025. After this results, Delhi University will enroll students through its common seat allocation system (CSAS). But many times it happens that two students get the same marks in Cuet UG. In such a situation, the question arises that who will get admission again? For this, DU has made a tie breaker rule.

What is a tie breaker rule and when does it apply?

When the marks of two students in the CUET UG exam become the same and the seats in the college are less, then the tie breaker rule is used. This means that in such a situation, some special methods are adopted to decide which student will get admission. This rule is necessary because the number of seats in DU is limited every year and the crowd of students is very high. In such a situation, it becomes necessary to take a decision in the right and fair manner.

Under the tie breaker rule, the students’ 12th standard marks are first seen. The student who will have more marks in 12th, will get the first chance. Suppose two students have 600 marks in CUET UG, but one is 95% in 12th and 90% of the other, then 95% of the one who has 95% will be given priority. But if the 12th digits also become equal, then age is made the basis. In this, the student who will be older in age will be put forward. For example, if a student is 18 years old and the second 17 years old, then 18 years old will get preference.

Now what will happen if both 12th digit and age are uniform? In such a situation, DU resorts to lottery system. That is, luck is tried in a way and it is decided through lottery who will get a seat. This method is completely fair and there is no partiality in it.

How many colleges and courses are in DU?

A total of 79 colleges of Delhi University will be admitted to a total of 79 graduate courses based on the score of CUET UG 2025. These courses include many popular programs like BA, BSc, BCom. Apart from this, some colleges also offer diploma and certificate courses, in which admission will also be available through CUET score. That is, if you want to study in DU, then preparation of Cuet UG is very important.

Keep these things in mind before application

Due to 79 courses in DU, each course has different qualifications. Therefore, when the result of CUET will come and the applications start under CSAS, then the students should check well whether they fulfill the necessary conditions for the course in which they want to enroll. If you are not eligible, then there will be no use to apply. So first read the rules and then apply carefully. This will increase your chances of selection.

When and how will the CSAS process start?

The application process of Cuet UG 2025 has recently ended and now preparations for the exam are going on. Delhi University has made it clear that the process of CSAS will start as soon as the results of CUET come. In this process, students will have to register online. After this, they will be able to choose colleges and courses of their choice. That is, you have to decide in advance which colleges and courses you want to study, so that you can fill the right choice at the right time.

Admission to DU is the dream of every student, but for this the correct information and preparation is very important. The tie breaker rule makes this process more transparent. If you work hard and understand the rules, then your admission can be confirmed. So be ready, take the exam of Cuet UG 2025 and fulfill your dreams.
