The application process of CUET UG 2026 has started from 3 January 2026. Like every year, this time too lakhs of students are going to take this examination for admission in the top universities of the country. NTA has made it clear that applications for CUET UG 2026 will be accepted only in online mode.

This year the examination will be in hybrid mode and candidates can choose maximum 5 subjects only. Also, verification through Aadhar card and DigiLocker has been made mandatory. According to the statistics of previous years, mistakes are found in about 10 to 15 percent of the application forms. Some of these forms are later corrected in the correction window, but many applications are completely rejected. Do not make these mistakes while filling CUET UG 2026 form

1. Uploading wrong format of photo and signature – Many students take the photo and signature lightly, whereas this becomes the reason for most of the rejections. Therefore, the photo should be recent, about 80 percent of the face should be clearly visible. Background should be white. There should be a photo without mask and without glasses. Common mistakes include uploading selfies, uploading blurry or old photos, uploading photos while wearing glasses.

2. Use of old category certificate – This mistake can prove to be very dangerous for OBC-NCL and EWS category students. Therefore, keep in mind that the certificate should be recent. Only Central Format certificate will be valid. Many universities do not accept state format certificates, if your certificate is old, then get it renewed in time.

3. Mistake in name, date of birth or name of parents – The information filled in the CUET UG form should completely match your 10th mark sheet.
If the name in the Aadhaar card is different and the form is different, there is a small difference in spelling, there can be a risk of filling the date of birth wrongly. NTA has clearly said that if the information in Aadhaar and documents does not match, then the verification may fail. Therefore, it is better to get the Aadhar card updated before filling the form.

4. Selection of wrong subjects – The biggest problem of CUET UG is subject selection. Many students choose such subjects which they have not studied in class 12th. Its disadvantage is that many universities like Delhi University (DU) consider the scores of only those subjects which have been studied in class 12th. You may be thrown out of counseling if you choose the wrong subject.
Therefore, while choosing the subject, definitely check your 12th mark sheet.

5. Ignoring the fee payment and confirmation page – Many times students fill the complete form, but the fees are not paid properly. Unless the Confirmation Page is generated, the application is considered incomplete, mere deduction of fees is not enough. Therefore, download the confirmation page and keep its print or PDF safe.

Important dates of CUET UG 2026 application

CUET UG 2026 application starting date is 3 January 2026. The last date for application is 30 January 2026. Apart from this, the last date for depositing fees will be 31 January 2026. Also, the correction window will be from 2 February to 4 February 2026.

According to the notification issued by NTA, CUET UG 2026 exam will be conducted between 11 May to 31 May 2026. This examination will be in Computer Based Test (CBT Mode). There is no age limit for CUET UG 2026. Candidates who have passed class 12th or equivalent examination, or students who are going to appear for class 12th examination in 2026 can also apply. NIOS, Diploma, Pre-University, HSC (Vocational) pass candidates are also eligible. However, the university or college where admission is to be taken will have its own rules applicable.

This time, NTA has issued a new advisory regarding CUET 2026, in which information about the syllabus, possible dates of the exam, number of subjects and necessary documents related to the application process has been given. NTA has clearly said that the complete syllabus of CUET 2026 has been uploaded on the website. Different topics have been given for each subject and students will have to prepare based on them.

CUET syllabus is mainly based on NCERT books. Experts believe that mere memorization will not suffice, but it is important to understand the concepts well. Students who read NCERT books carefully and develop basic understanding of the subject will have higher chances of scoring good marks.

A total of 37 subjects will be conducted in CUET UG 2026. These include language subjects, domain subjects and a general aptitude test. CUET exam will be conducted in 13 languages, which include English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Urdu. A major change in CUET 2026 is that students will get the option to appear for the exam in only 5 subjects. The purpose of this change is to make the examination more simple and focused, so that students can prepare better according to their chosen course. NTA has issued notice on 27th December 2025 for the students appearing for CUET UG 2026. In this notice, instructions have been issued regarding important things related to the exam time limit, Aadhar card authentication and application process. These instructions have been made for the candidates appearing for the examination so that their registration can be done without any hassle. According to the notice, CUET-UG examination will be conducted in the third week of May 2026. The format to apply for CUET UG 2026 will be released on the official website of NTA. Candidates appearing for the examination have been advised to apply through the official portal only.

Fill the information given in Aadhar card

To solve the problems during registration, candidates have been advised to fill all the data of their Aadhar Card as per the instructions given in it while applying. If the name of the parents is not available then there is no need for the candidates to fill it.

Difference in name in document

If there is a difference in someone’s name in the Aadhar card and the 10th certificate, then he can easily correct it during the application process. By doing this there will be no hindrance in their registration.

There may be changes in the list of universities

You will get information about UG programs offered by Central University and other institutions on CUET UG portal. Changes may be possible in the list of universities, hence candidates are advised to regularly check the updates on the official website of NTA.
