Cyber Fraud Alert: Fake claims keep going viral on social media every day, but the surprising thing is that many people consider these claims to be true and fall into the trap of cyber fraudsters and lose their hard-earned money. In such a situation, even a small carelessness on your part can cause harm to you, hence some important things should be kept in mind.

Recently, such a case has come to light from Faridabad, Haryana, where a person was duped into giving Rs 1 crore in exchange for an old Rs 5 note. After which the person fell prey to cyber thugs and caused a loss worth lakhs of rupees.

Do you secretly check your partner’s phone? Know this important thing

What is the whole matter?

In fact, a person from Sector-8, Faridabad, Haryana saw an advertisement on the social media platform Facebook to give Rs 1 crore in exchange for an old Rs 5 note, after which the person called the number written on the advertisement, the person who picked up the phone introduced himself as a company official and asked the person for a picture of the Rs 5 note, after which the person sent him the picture of the note.

Then the thugs told him that he would now be given Rs 1 crore in exchange for this note. But for that he will have to first deposit GST, airport fees, sales tax and other charges. After this the person deposited Rs 1,02,267 from different bank accounts, but after this no money was given to the person. After which the person lodged a complaint at the police station.

What is the truth of this viral claim?

The claim going viral on social media that one will get Rs 1 crore in exchange of old Rs 5 note is completely fake. Reserve Bank of India i.e. RBI or Government of India does not give any amount in exchange for old notes. This claim is just to deceive people.

What should be done?

Do not trust viral claims being made in the name of RBI or any government institution.

Also, do not share your personal information by trusting any unknown person.

Do not click on links with viral claims appearing on social media platforms.

Such fake claims go viral every day, so it is better not to trust them blindly.

Do this as soon as you get cheated

If you become a victim of cyber fraud, then without wasting any time, first call the National Cyber Helpline number 1930.

Along with this, also file a complaint on the official cyber crime portal of the Government of India.

At the same time, inform the bank about the incident, so that the transactions from the account can be stopped.

Also keep all the necessary evidence related to transactions and chats with you.

All this information can be useful to you during investigation.

Train travel with children will be safe, follow these important tips
