If we talk about India, there has not been much impact on the supply in India and people are getting gas cylinders albeit with some delay, but in the meantime an important question arises that can you travel with LPG gas cylinder in the train?

Can we take cylinder in train?

The clear answer to this would be no, you cannot take LPG cylinder in the train. According to the rules of Indian Railways, passengers are not allowed to carry flammable materials. Sections 67,154,164 and 165 of the Indian Railways Act 1989 apply to this, which prohibit carrying such dangerous goods.

Why can’t the cylinder be taken?

There are many reasons behind this like…

• LPG gas is very flammable.
• There is also a danger of the cylinder bursting.
• If gas leaks, a major accident can occur.

For all these reasons, keeping in mind the safety of the passengers, a strict ban has been imposed on it.

What fine can be imposed?

Yes, if a person travels in a train carrying an LPG cylinder and is caught, then a fine of up to Rs 1000 can be imposed on him. The important thing is that it is not limited to just fines. Breaking the rules can result in a jail sentence of up to 3 years. Safety is the most important thing while traveling in a train, hence one should avoid carrying dangerous items like LPG gas cylinder, so that the journey of you and others remains safe and no incident happens.
