CBI has arrested Punjab Police’s Ropar Range DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar and a private person in a bribery case of Rs 8 lakh. The arrested officer is a 2009 batch IPS officer and was currently posted as DIG of Ropar Range. CBI recovered many luxury items during raids at DIG’s house and premises.

According to CBI, the DIG is accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 8 lakh from a businessman in exchange for settling the FIR registered against him and not taking any further police action. Apart from this, he was also demanding to take money illegally every month.

CBI played a game to catch DIG red handed

After receiving the complaint, CBI registered a case on October 16 and laid a trap in Sector-21, Chandigarh and caught the accused’s middleman red handed while taking Rs 8 lakh. CBI said that during the trap, the complainant made a controlled call to the DIG, in which the officer admitted receiving the money and called the middleman and the complainant to his office. After this the CBI team arrested the DIG from his office.

During the raid, CBI recovered huge amount of cash and valuables from the houses and hideouts of the DIG, which included about Rs 5 crore in cash (counting is still going on), 1.5 kg of gold and jewellery, several documents related to property in Punjab, keys of Mercedes and Audi cars and 22 expensive watches.

Foreign liquor bottles and guns also recovered

Apart from this, locker keys, 40 liter foreign liquor bottles, a double barrel gun, a pistol, a revolver, an air gun have been recovered from the house and premises. CBI has also recovered Rs 21 lakh cash from the middleman. Both the accused have been arrested and will be presented in the court on October 17. CBI has said that further search and investigation is going on in the case.

Imam’s wife and his two daughters were brutally murdered with a sharp weapon in a house built inside the mosque in Gangnauli village of Doghat police station area in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh. Bloody bodies of all three were found in a room, creating a sensation in the area. When the police tried to pick up the dead bodies, the angry crowd created a ruckus and assaulted the police.

After convincing the people, the police took possession of all three bodies and sent them for post-mortem. After the information, DIG Kalanidhi Naithani reached the spot and formed police teams to uncover the secret.

Stirred by triple murder

Ibrahim, a resident of Sunna village of Kandhla police station area of ​​Shamli district, has been the Imam in the Sheikh Wali Big Mosque in Gangnauli village for four years. Ibrahim lives in a room above the verandah in the mosque premises with his 30-year-old wife Israna, two-year-old daughter Sumaiya and five-year-old daughter Sophia.

Ibrahim’s wife Israna used to teach children at home. This morning Ibrahim had gone to Deoband. At 2.30 in the afternoon, when the children reached the Imam’s house in the mosque to study, when they saw the door of the room, they screamed. He ran downstairs in a dejected state.

When the children started making noise, the people nearby gathered in the mosque. Israna’s body was lying on the floor and the bloody bodies of the two girls were lying on a cot. All three were murdered with sharp weapons. The triple murder created a stir in the area.

Police arrived on information

After the information, SP Suraj Kumar Rai reached the spot with a large number of police forces and took information about the incident. When Imam Ibrahim was informed about the massacre, he asked to come to Gangnauli. On the other hand, when the police tried to pick up the three bodies, angry people created a ruckus and demanded the arrival of the Imam and the revelation of the incident. Amidst the tension, people even scuffled with the police.

After explanation, at around five o’clock the police took possession of all three bodies. The police seized the DVRs of two CCTV cameras installed in the mosque. On the other hand, DIG Kalanidhi Naithani reached the spot and took information from the police and villagers. Imam Ibrahim reached home at around 5.30 pm, after which the police took him and the village watchman to the police station for questioning.
