Employees working in Central Government are still waiting for their DA. The month of April 2026 is about to pass but till now no update has come from the government regarding this. In such a situation, there is a lot of anxiety among the employees. Ever since the Finance Ministry implemented the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission in June 2016, there has not been such a delay in announcing any dearness allowance increase. This is the first time that there is such a delay, so it is natural for the employees to get worried.

Break due to 8th Pay Commission?
There is currently a stir among the employees waiting for their Dearness Allowance i.e. DA. Due to such a delay in the announcement, it is also being speculated that this announcement may have been put on hold due to the meeting of the 8th Pay Commission. Actually, the drafting committee meeting of the National Council (Joint Consultative Machinery) is going to be held on 13 April 2026. In this meeting, the final proposal to be sent to the 8th Pay Commission is going to be discussed. In such a situation, speculations are being made that perhaps the Commission is currently waiting for this meeting and only after this the salary increase will be announced.

When was it first announced?
According to the records of the Finance Ministry, the proposal to increase DA in the year 2025 was made by the government on 28 March 2025. After which its official announcement was made on 2 April. Similarly, in the year 2024 also, an official announcement was made by the government on April 3 to increase the dearness allowance. Even during Covid, the government had frozen dearness allowance at 17% between October 14, 2019 and July 20, 2021, for which an order was issued on April 23, 2020.
