On Monday (September 22), on the famous Buleward Road on the banks of Dal Lake of Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, there was chaos when the security forces saw a suspicious item. A unit of CRPF posted near the Regional Passport Office at Dalgate detected the suspect, which also informed the local police station and bomb disposal squad (BDS). The Jammu and Kashmir Police later carried out a controlled explosion to neutralize a suspicious object according to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for such suspected explosive equipment.

Explosion occurred here during Operation Sindoor

Officials had revealed that on May 10, during Operation Sindoor, a Pakistani drone exploded in the same area of Dal Lake in the morning. The shell of this rocket was found during the cleanliness drive by the Lake Protection and Management Authority (LCMA) on Saturday and was taken to the nearest police station for further investigation.

A thorough search operation is being carried out in the Dal Lake area since the remains of a rocket shell during the cleanliness drive in the lake on Saturday.

Police siege

IGP Kashmir Vardi Kumar Birdi told ABP News that this item was a white football and it was found out during regular monitoring on the banks of the lake. After this discovery, the security personnel immediately laid siege to the area and took precautionary steps to ensure the safety of the local people and visitors.

He added, “A controlled explosion was carried out by the bomb disposal squad to eliminate any possible threat according to the standard operating process.” The police have started a detailed investigation to detect the nature and origin of the object and to find any mark of explosives.
