Chinese ambassador to India on dalai lama: Chinese Ambassador to India, Shoo Faihong, has issued a statement on Sunday (July 6, 2025) about the comments being made about the election and rebirth of the Dalai Lama. Chinese Ambassador Faihong said that we are focusing on the comments made about the rebirth of the Dalai Lama. We do not accept the intervention of anyone in this matter.

Chinese Ambassador Shoo Faihong shared a post on the social media platform X on Sunday (July 6). In the post, Faihongge said, “It has been noted that recently, comments have been made by some of India’s officials regarding the rebirth of the Dalai Lama. The Chinese government completely opposed the efforts to interfere with any foreign organization or person in this matter to intervene in the process of rebirth and to give any kind of guidelines.”

Shijang is an integral part of China- Faihong

Faihong said, “Shijang (Tibet) is an integral part of the Chinese region. Tibetan Buddhism is originated from the Chingahai-Tibetan plateau of China. Tibetan Buddhism has started mainly within China and the beginning of the tradition of Dalai Lama and developed in the Tibetan region of China.”

This is China’s internal case- Faihong

He said, “The Dalai Lama has the right to give religious beliefs and titles to all his living Buddhas only and only with the Central Government of China. Also, the Dalai Lama’s rebirth and their succession election is completely internal matter of China.”

He said, “The Chinese government emphasizes the principle of freedom and self -sufficiency in religious affairs. In addition, the government conducts the process of rebirth of all living Buddhas under the law under the law and China will not allow any external power to intervene in this process in this case.”

China on Kiren rijiju statement over dalai lama’s heir: On Friday (July 4, 2025), China objected to the remarks of Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju that the Dalai Lama should choose the successor as per his wish. China called upon India to work carefully on issues related to Tibet, so that it does not affect the improvement in bilateral relations.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning, while answering a question asked about Rijiju’s comments, said in a press conference that India should be clear towards the 14th Dalai Lama’s anti -China separatist nature and should respect its commitments on issues related to Shijang (Tibet). China mentions Tibet in the name of Shijang.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman objected to India

Mao said that India should be careful in its words and actions, should stop interfering with China’s internal affairs on issues related to Shijang and avoid issues affecting the improvement and development of China-India relations.

Government minister commented for the first time about the successor of Dalai Lama

Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Thursday (July 3) that the decision on the next Dalai Lama will be taken only by the established institution and the Dalai Lama. He said that no one else will be involved in this decision. This is the first response of a senior government official to the Dalai Lama’s comment on his successor.

The Tibetan spiritual guru Dalai Lama had said on Wednesday (June 2) that the Dalai Lama institution would continue and only the ‘Gaden Fodrang Trust’ would have the right to recognize his successor.

Rijiju’s remarks came after dismissing the succession scheme of China’s Nobel Peace Prize winner Dalai Lama and emphasizing that the future successor should get its approval.

Buddhist followers, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and his fellow Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh will represent the Government of India at the ceremony to be held on July 6 on the occasion of Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday at Dharamshala. Rijiju said that the birthday celebration is a religious event and it has nothing to do with politics.

Traditions and Chinese laws should be followed for the election of Dalai Lama- Mao

Mao reiterated the attitude of China that the Dalai Lama and the second largest religion guru of Tibetan Buddhism, Pancharen Lama, should be according to the domestic process, the fortune letter extracted from the golden urn and the approval of the central government according to the rigorous religious rituals and historical traditions.

He said that the current 14th Dalai Lama had gone through this process and the then central government had approved him. Mao said that while choosing the successor of the Dalai Lama, those principles should be maintained and followed religious rituals, historical traditions, Chinese laws and rules.

India and China have had many high level meetings due to improvement

Mao’s comments related to improvement and development in relations refer to efforts to normalize relations from both India and China after a deadlock for more than four years after Eastern Ladakh deadlock.

Last year, the relationship between the two countries was restored after the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, after which several high -level meetings were held.
