Delhi Capitals Qualify For The Playoffs Of WPL 2026: The last league match of the Women’s Premier League 2026 took place between Delhi Capitals and UP Warriors on Sunday 1 February. This match was played at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. In this match, Delhi Capitals defeated UP Warriors by 5 wickets and secured their place in the playoffs. Along with the UP team, Mumbai Indians are also out of this season. Mumbai team would have reached the playoffs only if UP won this match, but Delhi Capitals did not allow this to happen. Delhi team will now face Gujarat Giants in the eliminator match on Tuesday, 3 February.

Delhi Capitals restricted UP Warriors to a small score

UP Warriors, who came to bat first after losing the toss, could score only 122 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. UP Warriors’ innings looked under pressure from the very beginning. They lost wickets in the beginning and could not increase the run rate in the middle overs. Deepti Sharma scored the maximum 24 runs. Later, Shikha Pandey scored 23 runs in 13 balls and took the UP team beyond the score of 120. Simran Shaikh also could not go beyond 22 runs. Apart from these, no other UP batsman could touch the 20-run mark.

On the other hand, Marijane Kapp bowled brilliantly for Delhi Capitals and took maximum 3 wickets. Chinelle Henry also played an important role by taking 2 wickets. Both of them kept the UP batsmen tied and did not allow them to reach a big score. Shri Charani was also successful in taking 2 wickets, while Minnu Mani also took 1 wicket.

Delhi Capitals chased the target easily

Delhi Capitals made a strong start while chasing UP Warriors’ target of 123 runs. Laura Wolvaardt scored a brilliant 47 runs in 36 balls, which included 7 fours, while opener Shefali Verma laid the foundation of victory by scoring 29 runs. The partnership of 73 runs between the two made the match easy. Then captain Jemimah Rodrigues played a strong inning of 34 runs in 18 balls and led the team to victory. Now Delhi team will face Gujarat in the eliminator match on 3rd February and the team that wins this match will face Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final on 5th February.

The fourth edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2026) is underway, in which Royal Challengers Bangalore has reached the playoffs. The team has secured the top position in the points table and secured the ticket for the final, which will be played in Vadodara on 5th February. The hopes of all four teams (DC, GG, UPZ and MI) are still alive for the 2 spots of the playoff. Understand the complete equation of how which team can confirm its place in the playoffs.

18 matches have been played in the Women’s Premier League 2026. There are still 2 matches left in the league stage. Today (January 30) there is a match between Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians. The last match of the league will be played between Delhi Capitals and UP Warriors on Sunday.

Women’s Premier League 2026 format

Before the equation you have to understand the equation of WPL. A total of 5 teams are playing in this. First there is a double round robin, each team plays 8-8 matches. All teams play 2-2 matches against other teams. After this, the top team in the points table gets a direct ticket for the final, like in this edition RCB has reached the final. The second and third placed teams play eliminator matches and the fourth and fifth placed teams are eliminated from the tournament.

Mumbai Indians equation

If Mumbai Indians, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, beats Gujarat Giants today, the team will have 8 points equal to Gujarat, but Gujarat’s net run rate is minus (-0.271). In such a situation, Mumbai will win and qualify for the playoffs.

But if MI loses today then it needs UP Warriors to beat Delhi Capitals on 1st February. In this situation, Gujarat will qualify while other teams will have 6 points each. MI’s net run rate (+0.146) is better than other teams, so it will qualify.

Gujarat Giants equation

Gujarat Giants have 8 points and a net run rate of -0.271, which is less than the third and fourth placed teams but if the team wins today then it will qualify for the playoffs. In this situation, Gujarat will get 10 points, which other contending teams will not be able to achieve.

But if Gujarat Giants loses today then it would need UP Warriors to beat Delhi Capitals on Sunday. Because if Delhi wins then they too will have 8 points equal to Gujarat and on the basis of net run rate they are in a better position than Gujarat.

Delhi Capitals equation

Delhi Capitals is currently at fourth place in the points table, the team has 6 points and a net run rate of -0.164. Of course, Delhi is still at fourth position but the situation is better for it. Delhi will not be affected by the result of today’s match (MI vs GG), they just have to win their match. If Delhi beats UP then it will enter the eliminator otherwise it will be out of the tournament.

UP Warriors equation

The hope of reaching the playoffs of the Women’s Premier League 2026 is still alive for UP Warriors, but there is very little chance. If Mumbai Indians wins today then UP will be out of the tournament. UP should not only lose Mumbai but also lose by a huge margin. After this they will have to defeat Delhi Capitals by a big margin. However, UP reaching the playoffs would be nothing less than a miracle.
