Step 1: Wash with cold water

If hands or feet get burnt, immediately keep them under cold water. Doing this reduces irritation and provides relief to the skin. Keep adding water lightly for 10-15 minutes. This method is effective in minor burns. Keep in mind that the water should not be too hot or cold, otherwise the skin may get damaged.

Second rule: do not apply ice directly

Many people apply ice for quick relief, but this is wrong. Applying ice directly on the skin can cause more harm. Due to this the skin may burst or swell. If you want coolness then apply light fomentation with cold water. Use ice only when advised by your doctor.

Third precaution: Stay away from toothpaste

Some people think that applying toothpaste will cure the burning sensation, but this is an illusion. Toothpaste increases the risk of infection. Instead, cover the burnt area with a clean cloth and apply the antibiotic cream recommended by the doctor.

Step 4: Go to the doctor

If the burn is minor, like a finger or part of the palm, it can be cured at home with a bandage. If a large part of the leg, face or large part of the body gets burnt, go to the doctor immediately. First wash with cold water, then go to the hospital. Delay may increase the loss.

Fifth tip: cover with a clean cloth

Do not leave the burnt area exposed. Cover it with a clean and soft cloth or cotton strip. This will prevent infection from dust and soil. Keep in mind that the cloth should not be too tight, otherwise the pain will increase.

In Jharkhand, firecrackers will be burst only from 8 to 10 pm on Diwali. Citing the orders of the Supreme Court and the National Green Tribunal, the State Pollution Control Board has issued detailed guidelines regarding bursting of fireworks and firecrackers during Diwali and other festivals. According to the official information issued by the board, apart from Diwali, permission will be given to burst firecrackers only for two hours on Chhath and Guru Parv. Only thirty-five minutes have been set for bursting firecrackers on Christmas and New Year.

Guidelines issued for fireworks on festivals

Firecrackers will be allowed from 6 to 8 am on Chhath, from 8 to 10 pm on Guru Parva and from 11:55 pm to 12:30 pm on 31st December on Christmas and New Year.

In the instructions issued by the Pollution Control Board, it has been said that in those cities of Jharkhand where the air quality level is good or satisfactory, firecrackers can be burst only at the prescribed time. In such cities, only firecrackers with sound level less than 125 decibels can be sold.

Ban on these firecrackers

Sale and use of loud or illegal firecrackers will be completely banned. Action will be taken against those who violate these instructions under Section 188 of IPC and Air Pollution Prevention Control Act.

A letter has also been written to the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts of the state regarding this. To set up firecracker shops in the urban areas of the state, clusters are being formed in open spaces in the cities. Retailers will be able to set up shop in those clusters only.

Four to five clusters have been formed in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. Apart from these, the administration has also set some conditions for the sale of firecrackers. All sellers will have to follow this. License will have to be obtained for the sale of firecrackers.

Delhi Police has appealed to the common citizens to immediately inform the police about any suspicious person, vehicle or object. It has been advised to get verification of tenants and domestic helpers done. Besides, cyber and social media cells are constantly keeping an eye on suspicious online activities.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of festivals, security agencies are prepared to deal with any situation. Officers say that this is not the time for carelessness, but for vigilance. Every police station has been instructed to remain active up to the beat level and report any suspicious activity immediately.
