Dhanteras 2025 Diya: The festival of lights starts from the Trayodashi of Kartik Krishna i.e. today, 18 October 2025, the day of Dhanteras and it is considered to be the first festival of lights. Along with the worship of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Dhanvantari on the day of Dhanteras, the special importance of donating lamps is also mentioned in the scriptures. It is believed that if 13 lamps are lit on the evening of Dhanteras, it eliminates poverty in the house, increases wealth and brings happiness and prosperity throughout the year.

Importance of lighting lamps on Dhanteras

There is a religious belief that the night of Dhanteras indicates the happiness of Yamraj and the arrival of Goddess Lakshmi. Therefore, on this day, Goddess Lakshmi and Dhanvantari are worshiped during Pradoshkaal and at night a lamp is lit in the name of Yamraj, the god of death, which is called Yama Deep. Along with lighting the Yama lamp, there is a tradition of lighting 13 lamps on Dhanteras. These 13 lamps destroy sin, fear and disease and provide 13 types of happiness. where to burn these 13 Lamp

At the main gate- Today, light two lamps of ghee at the main entrance of the house.

Near Tulsi- Light a lamp near Tulsi. This brings health and peace in the house.

In the kitchen- Light a lamp in the kitchen in the name of Mother Annapurna, so that food and prosperity never decrease.

In the home temple- Light a lamp in front of Lakshmi-Ganesh, which brings permanent wealth into the house.

In place of safe or place of keeping money- Light a lamp and request Goddess Lakshmi to ensure growth and stability in wealth.

On the courtyard or terrace- Light a lamp and offer it to protect the directions.

near water- Light a lamp near a place with water so that diseases, defects and negativity stay away.

bathroom- Lighting a lamp near the bathroom on the day of Dhanteras maintains cleanliness and health in the house.

In the form of Yama Deepdaan- Light a lamp outside the house in the south direction. It is dedicated to Yamraj.
