DRDO India: India has achieved great success in the defense sector. DRDO and Indian Navy have jointly launched a successful salvo of Naval Anti-Ship Missile (Short Range) for the first time. This test was conducted in the Bay of Bengal near the coast of Odisha, which is considered an important achievement for the military strength of the country.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force and industry, including DCPP partners, on this success. He said that the development of this missile will significantly increase the capability of the armed forces and will further strengthen the maritime security of the country.

Big increase in defense capability

This successful test is being considered a big step in terms of India’s military strength. This will significantly increase the firepower and strategic strength of the Indian Armed Forces, especially in the maritime domain.

Defense Ministry gave technical information

According to the Defense Ministry, these state-of-the-art platforms have been designed keeping in mind the future operational needs of the Indian Armed Forces. Both vehicles are fitted with a 30 mm crewless turret developed with indigenous technology, which includes modern features to ensure better mobility, firepower and security. These platforms are equipped with high-power engines and automatic transmission systems, which improve their speed and performance. They can easily cross difficult paths, high slopes and obstacles.

For safety, they have been provided with modular blast and ballistic protection up to STANAG Level-4 and Level-5, along with modular protective shield all around. Hydro jet technology has been used in the vehicles, which makes them capable of crossing obstacles present in water and increases operational flexibility.

The ministry said that the 7.62 mm PKT gun fitted with a 30 mm crewless turret has also been designed to launch anti-tank guided missiles. Their base design is of multi-role capability, meaning they can be used in different military operations as per requirement. At present, about 65 percent indigenous content has been used in these platforms, which is planned to be further increased to 90 percent.

The beginning of January 2026 has been very bad for India’s space mission and the reason for this is that ISRO’s 64th space mission has failed in the third stage. Due to this, Anvesha satellite made by Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) along with 15 other satellites have also been lost in space, which is being considered a big blow for India.

The most reliable rocket of Indian Space Research Organization i.e. ISRO is PSLV, its full name is Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle. The world also recognizes the efficiency of PSLV because its success average is more than 95 percent. Through this, 63 missions of ISRO have been completely successful. Be it Chandrayaan-1 or Mangalyaan, Aditya-L1 or Astrosat, PSLV has successfully completed its missions. Apart from this, in the year 2017, PSLV had also created a world record by launching 104 satellites simultaneously.

A total of 16 satellites were to be launched from PSLV-C62.

In view of this success, PSLV-C62 was launched on Monday (January 12, 2026) from the space center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. There were a total of 16 satellites with it. One of these satellites was EOS-N1 built by DRDO, which was called Anvesha in common language. Satellite was an important weapon for the Indian Army, through which Pakistan and China could be monitored and intelligence information could be gathered.

This satellite could monitor the enemy country even from a height of 600 km from the earth, could capture photographs and could create new routes for the Indian Army. There were also 14 satellites with this PSLV, which were to be installed in Sun-Synchronous Orbit i.e. SSO at an altitude of 512 km from the earth.

At which stage did India’s space mission fail?

This entire mission was of 6485.14 seconds, in which there were a total of four stages. PSLV continued to work properly for two stages, but in the third stage there was a malfunction around 494 seconds and PSLV got lost in space. Along with this, its satellites also got lost in space.

Elaborating on this incident, ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan said that there was a disturbance in the third stage of the rocket launching, due to which it lost its way.

India suffered a loss of Rs 800 crore due to mission failure

It is believed that due to this failure, India has suffered a loss of about Rs 800 crore. However, this is not the first time that ISRO has suffered such a big setback. Even before this, the same thing had happened with ISRO’s PSLV-C61 mission on May 18, 2025. Even then, an important satellite earth observation of India was going in that mission, which was to be established in sun-synchronous polar orbit 524 km above the earth. Even then it was going smoothly for two stages and due to losing its way in the third stage, it too was lost in space.

Repeated failure of PSLV may affect ISRO

ISRO has suffered a major setback due to failure of two consecutive missions of PSLV and now ISRO is investigating it again, but this failure has raised questions on ISRO. Because this time the Anvesha satellite which was with PSLV was a very important satellite for the Indian Army. Now even that satellite is no more. In such a situation, ISRO used to take satellites of countries around the world into space through PSLV, now other countries will think twice before handing over their satellites to ISRO. Apart from this, ISRO also has missions like Gaganyaan and Chandrayaan this year, which may suffer a setback due to this failure of ISRO.

The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) successfully launched two Pralay missiles from the same launcher off the coast of Odisha on Wednesday (December 31, 2025) at around 10:30 am. The Defense Ministry has issued a statement and given information in this regard. The ministry has also shared the picture of the missile launch.

At the same time, regarding the Pralay missile test, the Defense Ministry said that this flight test was conducted as a part of user evaluation tests. The Defense Ministry said that both the missiles followed the prescribed trajectory and met all flight objectives. This was confirmed through tracking sensors deployed by the Integrated Test Range (ITR) located in Chandipur. At the same time, telemetry systems installed on ships deployed near the target area have also confirmed the terminal incidents.

Can accurately attack the enemy up to 150-500 km range

Pralay is an indigenously developed solid propellant based semi-ballistic tactical missile using state-of-the-art guidance and navigation systems to ensure high accuracy. This missile is also capable of carrying different types of warheads to hit multiple targets, with a range of 150 to 500 kilometers. It will be used to destroy enemy border command and control centres, radar systems, cantonments and airfields.

However, due to the ‘no first use’ policy, the test of Pralay missile is very important. Because this missile helps in filling the gap of conventional and ballistic missiles.

China already has two types of stealth aircraft.

What will be indigenous Amca project,

Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), a medium-weight multi-roll, two-in-in aircraft, a two-engine aircraft, has been designed by DRDO’s Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA). The Cabinet Committee on Security Affairs (CCS), led by PM Narendra Modi, has allocated 15 thousand crores for the project of this fifth category fighter aircraft of about 25 tonnes.

In the beginning, ADA was preparing to make indigenous Emka in association with DRDO and HAL. But it can take about a decade to make it, that is, before 2035, its first flying was difficult. This is the reason that the Ministry of Defense has now included private companies in it.

DRDO claims that when Emka is ready, it will be one of the most modern and deadly stealth fighter jets of its category. It is believed that it will prove to be extremely fatal for the enemy with Artificial Intelligence ie AI’s power pilot, Nettric Warfare System, Integrated Vehicle Health Management and Internal-Bey. The AI-power electronic pilot has a multi sensor data fusion so that the surrounding situation can be completely monitored. Along with this, the pilot can also take immediate action and the target should also be put accurate. Operations can be done with Emka in very low visuality.

In February this year, ADA displayed the full-scale model of AMCA at the Aero-India exhibition held in Bengaluru. This model will be converted into real Emka.

America and Russia want to give their fifth generation fighter jet

Russia’s SU-57e Stealth Fighter Jet and America’s Fifth Generation Fighter Jet F-35 Lightning attended Aero-India. In such a situation, it started to speculate whether India is planning to take any one of them. This is because indigenous Emka may take a whole decade to join the Indian Air Force. However, CCS has given five years to prepare prototypes.

India has not yet prepared a plan to buy stealth fighter jets or make it with anyone else, but Russia has extended his hand to help in designing the fifth class fighter jet. Russia said that if needed, SU-57 can also be constructed in India under Make in India.

The US has not directly made the F-35 offer, but a major objective of participating in Aero-India was that India should be interested in buying stealth fighter jets.

Two-front challenge in aerospace sector in front of India

In November last year, China introduced its second stealth fighter Jet J-35 ‘Sheenyang’ in front of the world. Fifth Generation Aircraft J-35 was officially introduced by China in ‘Zuhai Air Show’ (12-17 November 2024).

China wants to field its J-35 in the US against F-35. Before Zuhai Air Show, by sharing pictures and videos on social media, China had also expressed his intention to export countries like Pakistan. It was believed that China would export J-35A to friendly countries.

The Pakistani Air Force already uses China’s JF-17 and J-10 fighter jets. The inclusion of J-35 is expected to increase the strength of the Pakistani Air Force significantly. It is believed that Pakistani fighter pilot has started taking training on J-35 in China.
