Delhi’s air has once again become poisonous. The situation is such that even breathing is becoming difficult here. On Saturday (November 8) evening, the average air quality index (AQI) of the capital reached 372, which falls in the poor category. The situation is even worse in many areas of Delhi. AQI was recorded at 417 in Alipore, 408 at ITO, 407 in Nehru Nagar, 403 in Patparganj and 404 in Punjabi Bagh.

According to the data of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) Sameer App, AQI was 361 till 4 pm, which increased to 372 within a few hours. This means that the air quality in many parts of the capital has reached dangerous levels. After these figures, Delhi became the most polluted city in the country.

The situation in the National Capital Region (NCR) is also worrying. AQI has reached 354 in Noida and very poor level in Gurugram also. Data was recorded from 39 monitoring stations of the city through the Central Pollution Control Board Sameer App.

AQI of these areas is beyond 400

This figure has crossed 400 in these areas of Delhi. These include Alipur (417), ITO (408), Punjabi Bagh (404), Nehru Nagar (407), Patparganj (403), Ashok Vihar (402), Sonia Vihar (401), Jahangirpuri (409), Rohini (408), Vivek Vihar (415), Narela (412), Wazirpur (424), Bawana (424), Chandni Chowk (400). And reached the level of Burari crossing (420).

Air Quality Index in Delhi-NCR

In the National Capital Region, 354 cases were recorded in Noida, 336 in Greater Noida and 339 in Ghaziabad. It has reached very dangerous levels in all these areas. Let us tell you, on Friday the air quality index in Delhi was measured at 322.

Due to which the capital came on top among the most polluted cities. According to the Air Quality Early Warning System, the air quality of the city is expected to remain very poor for the next several days. According to CPCB standards, if AQI is between 0 to 50 then it is considered in the category of ‘good’, 51-100 ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 ‘moderate’, 201-300 ‘poor’, 301-400 ‘very poor’ and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.

After the air quality in Delhi reached poor category, many schools have taken suo motu cognizance and stopped outdoor school activities. Many schools are preparing to close. At present no such order has been issued by the government. The schools have taken this decision on their own. Under the Winter Action Plan, the government and private schools have issued guidelines to reduce pollution keeping in mind the health of children.

Indoor activities for children’s health

Keeping in mind the health of children, indoor activities are being conducted inside schools only. Masks have been made mandatory for everyone. Besides, activities for clean air are being organized in the club itself. Most of the schools have also decided not to hold morning prayers in the open grounds. Along with this, air purifiers are also being used in schools.

What is the AQI of Delhi?

Delhi’s air quality saw a slight improvement on Wednesday (November 5), although the air quality index (AQI) still remained in the ‘poor’ category at 273. In Shadipur it has reached ‘very poor’ category with a level of 308. According to the ‘Sameer App’ of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality in 27 monitoring stations has been recorded in the ‘poor’ category.

This was the weather in the capital

On Tuesday (November 4) night the air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 291. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature was recorded at 18.4 degrees Celsius. Which is 3.1 degrees more than the average of the season, while the humidity was recorded at 89 percent at 8.30 in the morning.

According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 30 degrees Celsius. According to Central Pollution Control Board classification, AQI between 0 to 50 is considered good, 51 to 100 is considered satisfactory, 101 to 200 is moderate, 201 to 300 is considered poor, 301 to 400 is considered very poor and 401 to 500 is considered severe.

According to the Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS) for Delhi, the wind speed from the north-west direction reduced to eight kilometers per hour during the evening and night and this reduced pollution. AQEWS said the air quality is likely to remain in the ‘severe’ category on Tuesday.

respiratory distress

According to CPCB, the concentration of PM 2.5 was 155 micrograms per cubic meter and the concentration of PM 10 was 278 micrograms per cubic meter. At this level, these pollutants can cause breathing problems and can have a particularly severe effect on people suffering from lung or heart disease, including children and the elderly.

AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’ and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.

Delhi Pollution: As soon as the festival of Diwali ends, the air of Delhi has...

Delhi Pollution: As soon as the festival of Diwali ends, the air of Delhi has become poisonous. On Tuesday morning, ‘very poor’ or ‘severe’ air quality index (AQI) was recorded in most areas of Delhi. On Monday night, the pollution level was recorded in the ‘red zone’ in most of the monitoring centres. AQI 417 was recorded in Dwarka, 404 in Ashok Vihar, 423 in Wazirpur and 404 in Anand Vihar. According to media reports, the air quality in 36 out of 36 places remained in the ‘very poor’ to ‘severe’ level. Let us tell you which diseases are likely to occur in such polluted air.

respiratory and lung diseases

The first effect of bad air is on the lungs. Constant exposure to bad air can increase your problems like cough, chest tightness, shortness of breath and asthma. People who already have problems with bronchitis or asthma, their condition may worsen. This pollution is most dangerous for children and the elderly because their immunity is weak.

risk of heart disease

Many researches show that staying in polluted air for a long time also increases the risk of heart disease. This includes problems like heart attack, increased blood pressure and blood clotting. Pollution can cause blood to thicken, which reduces blood flow to the heart.

risk of cancer

According to WHO, prolonged exposure to toxic air also increases the risk of lung cancer. Particulate matter present in the air (PM 2.5 and PM 10) enters the body and damages the cells and can gradually cause cancer.

Effect on skin and eyes

The direct effect of pollution is also visible on eyes and skin. Problems like irritation, watering and allergies in the eyes increase. At the same time, allergies, itching and rashes on the skin become common. Due to continuous exposure to toxic air, skin aging also happens faster.

How to prevent this?

If you are in Delhi and you want to protect yourself from this dangerous pollution, then you will have to follow some rules. For example, avoid leaving the house unless necessary. Along with this, wear an N95 or N99 mask while leaving the house. Use air purifiers at home as much as possible. Apart from this, drink as much water as possible so that the toxins can be flushed out. If you are facing any problem, then contact the doctor immediately, otherwise it can have a serious impact on your health.

Also read: Side effects of hair color: If you get your hair colored every month, then stop it immediately, otherwise so many types of cancer will make a home in the body.
