Yes… the system is choked. Such a choke that the water raining from the sky does not find a way out and the common man remains trapped in the cocktail of gutters and rain water. Rain is a gift that is waited for by everyone, from farmers to people living in cities. Clouds rain, dry earth gets relief, trees and plants get new life and crops get life. But in our cities rain does not bring relief but brings disaster. As soon as it rains continuously for two hours, the pace of the metros stops. Roads become ponds, vehicles stop and people become afraid of leaving their homes.

Thursday morning was similar in Delhi-NCR also. After overnight rain, roads in Noida, Ghaziabad and Delhi were submerged in water. The most surprising thing was that despite the worsening situation, schools opened on time in many places. In Ghaziabad, the administration announced holiday when the school buses had left with the children. Many schools in Noida called the children and later had to dismiss them early due to lack of electricity. The question is that when the Meteorological Department had already warned of heavy rain, then why was the decision not taken in time?

Somewhere traffic jam, somewhere death due to electric shock

The pictures of Ghaziabad were revealing the reality of the system. There are flats worth crores of rupees in posh areas like Vasundhara and Indirapuram, but after the first rain all the shine has faded. Roads turned into drains. Cars, bikes, buses and pedestrians were seen struggling with gutters and rain water. There was also news of death of one person due to electrocution in Indirapuram. An Amity School bus got stuck on the road and people pushed it out. The only saving grace was that there were no children in the bus at that time. On the other hand, an auto stopped in the middle of the road and small school children were seen pushing it. This scene was not just a picture, but a big question on administrative preparation.

The situation was no different in Noida, which is claimed to be a modern and planned city. The road outside Father Agnel School had turned into a river. The children had reached school, but after an hour due to power failure a message of dismissal was suddenly sent. People going to office in the morning were stuck in traffic for hours. Many vehicles got stuck in the water and people kept searching for a way out in the water flowing on the road.

It is repeatedly said that the drainage system of Delhi-NCR is old. This is also correct. The current drainage system of Delhi was prepared about 50 years ago. According to available reports, the Drainage Master Plan of 1976 was designed keeping in mind the population at that time and 50 mm rainfall in 24 hours. But the question is that on July 8, Delhi received only 26 mm of rain, that is, less than the capacity of the system, yet why was there waterlogging from Sadar Bazaar to the residences of MPs? This simply means that the problem is not only about the old drainage, but also about its care, cleaning and timely maintenance.

In Delhi, the Meteorological Department had issued a red alert for three hours in the morning. Despite this, sewers were seen overflowing in areas like Rajghat, BD Marg, Laxmi Nagar and Sadar Bazaar. Gutter water was flowing on the road near Rajghat. Traffic started crawling in Lakshmi Nagar even before seven in the morning. At many places, parents had to carry small children in their laps and cross water-filled roads.

Delhi government says that a control room has been set up to deal with waterlogging and the situation is better than before. It is also true that this time some places like Minto Road and Prahladpur Underpass, which used to get submerged every year, were not in the same situation as before. That means efforts have been made to improve. But it is equally true that the first big rain once again proved that distribution of responsibilities among different agencies is also a big problem. The drainage and sewage system in Delhi is divided among several agencies like MCD, NDMC, PWD, DDA and Delhi Jal Board. When accountability is divided, the answer also gets lost.

The situation is not limited to cities only. The mood of the weather is also changing rapidly. Due to climate change the term “new normal” is now being used. That means the old weather pattern has now changed. Now if it is hot, it will break records, if it rains, it will be torrential in a short time and if winter comes, it will bring colder than usual. This is the reason why incidents like sudden cloud bursts in the mountains and overflowing drains are increasing continuously.

At many places in Uttarakhand, people had to risk their lives to cross the roads amid overflowing drains. A man was seen crossing a fast flowing drain with a small child tied with a cloth on his back. This picture shows how dangerous the weather is now becoming.

Shocking pictures from across the country

A surprising picture also emerged from Raigarh in Maharashtra. After heavy rains, thousands of LPG gas cylinders were seen flowing in the Patalganga river. Actually, due to water logging in the warehouse, about three thousand cylinders were washed away in the river. The administration had to appeal to the people that if anyone found a cylinder, it should be returned.

An alert of heavy to very heavy rain has been issued in Uttarakhand for the next 48 hours. The Meteorological Department has issued warnings in many districts including Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital and Champawat. 71 roads have already been closed at the beginning of monsoon and the situation may become more challenging in the coming days.

Simply put, the same picture is visible from Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad to the mountains. Rain is not the problem, the problem is lack of preparation. Every year before the arrival of monsoon, crores of rupees are spent on cleaning of drains, drainage system and drainage schemes. But the very first heavy rain exposes those claims.

Governments will have to modernize drainage systems, establish better coordination between agencies and take timely decisions. At the same time, citizens will also have to avoid habits like throwing garbage in drains. Because until administrative preparation and citizen responsibility do not come together, the same picture of cities will continue to emerge every rainy season – there will be less rainfall and more failure of the system.

These days the weather patterns are constantly changing in Delhi. Sometimes there is strong sunshine, sometimes there are clouds and rain, the reason for this fluctuation is being considered to be Western Disturbance. According to the Meteorological Department, the coming days will also be full of similar changes. Talking about the last 24 hours, the weather in the capital and surrounding areas was quite pleasant. It remained cloudy throughout the day and there was light rain, due to which the temperature dropped and people got relief from the heat.

The weather is expected to be clear today (April 1). There may be strong sunshine during the day, although light clouds will also be visible at times. There is no possibility of rain or storm today.

Temperature will increase today and tomorrow

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature will increase on 1 and 2 April. The maximum temperature can reach around 37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 20-21 degrees. That means people will start feeling slight heat. But on 3rd and 4th April the weather will change once again.

There is a possibility of thunderstorm and rain with strong winds in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad. Due to this the temperature will drop and the maximum temperature can reach around 30 degrees.

It may rain in many parts of the country till April 10

Meteorologists say that the effect of Western Disturbance will still persist, especially in the hilly areas. Due to this, there may be intermittent rain in many parts of the country till April 10. At the same time, if we talk about pollution, the air quality in Delhi remains in the moderate category. AQI 171 has been recorded. March 2026 was the most polluted in the last four years, with an average AQI of 181.

The weather has once again taken a turn in Delhi. On the morning of 26 March, clouds have camped in the capital. The morning temperature was recorded around 20°C, while it can reach 33°C during the day. It is believed that today it will be cloudy throughout the day and there is a possibility of light rain, lightning and dust storm in some areas.

Let us tell you that after one or two days of mild heat in Delhi, this change in the weather is giving relief to the people. On March 26, winds may blow at a speed of 20 to 30 km per hour and thunder clouds may form. The minimum temperature is likely to be 18°C and the maximum temperature is 34°C, due to which both humidity and slight relief can be felt during the day.

Temperature and conditions of the previous day

The bright sunshine on Wednesday made people feel the heat. The maximum temperature was recorded at 33.5°C, 2 degrees more than normal, while the minimum temperature was 16.4°C. The humidity level in the air was recorded between 94 and 33 percent. The maximum temperature in Mungeshpur was 30°C, while the minimum temperature in Lodhi Road and Ayanagar was 15.7°C.

reason for changing weather

According to meteorologists, unusual rains are being seen this time in March. The main reason for this is the active series of western disturbances. The system active since March 15 is affecting lower altitude than normal. An area of cyclonic winds has formed in and around central Pakistan.

According to experts, there are chances of dust storm and light rain on Thursday, although it will not have much immediate impact on the temperature. There is a possibility of widespread rainfall in many parts of the country between 29th and 31st March, due to which the temperature will drop and by the end of the month the day temperature may reach around 20°C. Meanwhile, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 183, which falls in the ‘moderate’ category. The air quality is likely to remain in this category till March 28.

As soon as the weather changed in the capital Delhi, a significant improvement in the health of the air has been recorded. Light rains and favorable weather conditions have brought down the pollution levels, which has brought great relief to the people. Due to this, the administration has removed the first phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), which has happened for the first time this year.

After the rain on Sunday (15 March), Delhi’s air quality has seen continuous improvement. On Monday (March 16), the air quality index was recorded at 119, which falls in the ‘normal’ category, while it had reached 97 in the morning. For the last one week, the pollution level was gradually decreasing, due to which the air condition seemed to be moving from bad to better category.

Clear air due to weather

According to the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), AQI 119 was recorded at 4 pm on March 16. Officials say that favorable weather, such as light rain and strong winds, has played an important role in reducing pollution. Also, after reviewing the forecasts of IMD and IITM, the current situation was considered satisfactory.

In view of the improvement in air quality, the restrictions imposed under GRAP Stage-1 implemented in Delhi-NCR have been removed with immediate effect. However, officials have clarified that this relief may be temporary, therefore, state governments and concerned agencies have been instructed to strictly follow all the guidelines so that pollution does not increase again.

Weather became pleasant due to light rain and wind

One day’s light rain has made the weather pleasant in the capital. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light rain between March 18 and 20. Yellow alert has been issued for March 20, warning of rain with strong winds. Due to this the temperature may drop by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius.

feeling of slight warmth during the day

On Monday (16 March), cold winds kept the weather pleasant in the morning and evening, while the sun felt a little strong during the day.
Now a lot of change has started to be seen in the weather of Delhi-NCR. Which has also affected the air quality. At present, the chances of rain in Delhi have also increased. There will be light clouds in the sky in the capital within a day or two.

If we talk about the weather in Delhi-NCR on Tuesday (March 17), then there may be some relief in the morning, but there is a possibility of increase in heat during the day. 63 humidity can be seen in the weather of Delhi on Tuesday. The wind speed is expected to be 6 kilometers per hour. There are very less chances of rain in Delhi today. The weather department has said that there is only a 10 percent chance of rain.

What will be the temperature of Delhi?

The minimum temperature in Delhi on Tuesday will be 17 degrees. The maximum temperature can reach up to 32 degrees. Due to change in weather, significant improvement in air quality has been recorded. Due to cool winds and clear weather, the Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached better levels in most areas of Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad.

The weather department gave these indications

However, the Meteorological Department has indicated that the weather patterns may change once again from March 19. According to the forecast, it will be partly cloudy that day and there may be rain or thundershowers at one or two places. There is a possibility of partly cloudy sky and light rain on March 20, while on March 21, it may be generally cloudy with light rain.

Due to this change in weather, the level of pollution has reduced and the air has become cleaner. Experts say that if rains and strong winds continue, then people of NCR can get the benefit of clean air in the coming days also.

March has just started and the heat of May-June is beginning to be felt in the capital. Last day, i.e. March 6, was recorded as the hottest day of this season so far. The maximum temperature in the capital reached 34.4 degrees Celsius, which is about 7 degrees more than normal. The increasing heat in the beginning of March itself has surprised people and the effect of strong sunlight is clearly being felt in the afternoon.

The night temperature also increased along with the day.

In Delhi, not only the day temperature but also the night temperature has been recorded higher than normal. Due to this, warmth is being felt instead of slight coolness even in the morning and evening. The minimum temperature recorded at Safdarjung weather station was 17 degrees Celsius, which is 3.6 degrees more than normal. The minimum temperature in Lodhi Road area was 16.3 degrees Celsius, which is 4.3 degrees above normal.

Usually, in the beginning of March, there is a slight coolness in the morning and night, but this time due to the high temperature, the morning and evening are also feeling hot. At present, the air of the capital remains in the moderate category and the air quality index has been recorded at 171.

Indications that the weather will remain like this for the next 10 days

According to weather experts, the weather trend in Delhi and surrounding areas may remain almost the same in the coming days. Due to clear sky and strong sunlight, the temperature is expected to increase gradually.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of any major weather activity in Delhi and surrounding states like Punjab for the next 10 days. During this period, along with day temperature, an increase in morning and evening temperatures can also be seen. Besides, there are indications of increase in wind speed in the coming days, due to which the weather may remain dry.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday compared the air quality index (AQI) of the national capital Delhi to a “gas chamber”, saying that despite the rapid development in the state, there is no “suffocating atmosphere”. Yogi Adityanath said that the degree of the state’s first Forestry and Horticulture University, which is going to be built in Campierganj, will guarantee jobs for the youth.

In a program organized in Gorakhpur, Adityanath said that the biggest challenge facing the world today is environmental degradation. He said, “You see how good the environment is here, there is no pollution. If there is no pollution, there is no disease. Whenever there is pollution, it will also harm the lungs. If the machine supplying oxygen gets damaged, the whole body will get damaged.

There is a gas chamber in Delhi- CM Yogi

While addressing the inauguration ceremony of the rebuilt Development Officer office in Jungle Kauria development block of Gorakhpur, the Chief Minister drew attention towards the air quality in Delhi. He said, “You go to Delhi.” What is the condition? It looks like there is a gas chamber there. The condition is bad. You will not be able to breathe air and your eyes will feel irritated. The doctors there say that those suffering from asthma and other diseases, the elderly and children, should not go out of the house. Is this life?

Adityanath said that whenever there is any tampering with the environment, a similar situation will arise. He said, “We are lucky that there is development here, but there is no suffocating environment.”

According to Central Pollution Control Board data, the AQI of the national capital Delhi was recorded at 214 at 9 am on Saturday, which falls in the “poor” category. According to an official statement, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the degree of the state’s first Forestry and Horticulture University, which is going to be built in Campierganj, will guarantee jobs for the youth.

When intentions are clear, results come automatically – CM Yogi

He said that there will be vast employment opportunities in the country and the world for the youth coming out of this university with degrees and diplomas. Besides, this university will also play an important role in increasing the income of Annadata farmers. Discussing the development of the state and Gorakhpur after 2017, the Chief Minister said that when intentions are clear, results come automatically. Due to the efforts made in the right direction, today the fertilizer factory has become operational in Gorakhpur.

CM remembered former block chief late Rampati Yadav

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also respectfully remembered the former block chief of Jangal Kauria, late Rampati Yadav. He said that Rampati Yadav, who was associated with Gorakshpeeth since 1952, became the head of Jangal Kauria in 1962 and only then this block headquarters was established. He served the people for a long time with decency and ease.

The second hottest day of this month was recorded on January 19, when the maximum temperature was 26.7 degrees Celsius, while the average maximum temperature so far for January has been 20.4 degrees Celsius.

Delhi’s air is still ‘very bad’

Even on Thursday, January 22, the air quality remained in the ‘very poor’ category. Some relief is expected due to rain and thundershowers on January 23. The city’s 24-hour average AQI was recorded at 313.

In many cities including Delhi-NCR, the impact of increasing pollution and cold has deeply hurt the health of the people. The situation is such that patients suffering from diseases like asthma, bronchitis and COPD are increasing rapidly and its direct impact is visible on the sales of medicines. According to a recently published report, the sales of respiratory medicines will cross Rs 1950 crore in December 2025, which is the highest in the last three years.

Pollution and cold increased the business of medicines

According to media reports, the sales of respiratory medicines in December 2025 were 10 percent more than December 2024 and 18 percent more than December 2023. Between October and December, when pollution is at its peak, sales recorded an increase of 14 percent compared to 2024 and 8 percent compared to 2023. Anti-asthma and COPD medicines were a major part of this increase.

Risk increases with increasing age

Talking to the team of ABP Live, Dr. Arun, Senior Consultant of Respiratory Diseases at Artemis Hospitals, says that diseases like asthma are generally seen more in people above 50 years of age. Due to high muscle strength in childhood, the situation gets controlled, but with increasing age, muscle strength decreases and problems start increasing. Due to weak immunity, the problem becomes more serious due to changing weather, cold and pollution.

The young generation is also vulnerable

According to Dr. Arun, the problem which was earlier limited to the elderly, has now started appearing in the younger generation as well. Smoking habits are increasing in both males and females. This year the level of pollution is higher and the cold is also more, due to which an increase of about 10 to 15 percent has been seen in respiratory diseases.

Dangerous combination of Delhi air and cigarette

It has been told in many researches and articles that if a person smokes one pack of cigarettes a day, then breathing the air of Delhi is equivalent to smoking 7 to 8 cigarettes. That is, if the same person breathes polluted air after smoking a packet of cigarettes, then the effect is not equal to 17 but about 70 cigarettes. After the age of 50, lung function decreases and smoking damages it at twice the rate.

Children, pregnant women and the elderly are most affected.

Like every year, this time too children, pregnant women and senior citizens have been affected the most. A new thing that has come to light this year is that the number of youth has also increased rapidly, who are reaching the hospital with respiratory problems.

Doctors’ advice for asthma patients

According to doctors, people who have asthma should stay away from cold and polluted areas for 3 to 4 months in winter. It is beneficial to go to relatively clean and warm areas like Goa, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Those who cannot go out for long periods of time are advised to wear masks regularly, exercise at home and do light physical activity in the park between 4 and 5 pm in the evening.

Negligence in diet and medicine can prove costly

According to doctors, it is very important to eat antioxidants like dry fruits, salads and drink enough water. There should not be a gap in medicines, because medical stores close early in winter and an emergency situation can arise if your health suddenly deteriorates at night or in the morning.

There is also a risk of bronchitis, heart attack and stroke

Due to pollution and cold, cases of bronchitis have increased rapidly, in which the respiratory tract gets swollen and more mucus starts forming. Due to increase in humidity in the air, the virus spreads quickly and there is a risk of infection from one person to the entire family. In this season, cases of skin problems, stroke and heart attack also increase, because physical activities reduce and the possibility of clot formation increases.

What do chemists say?

Robin Sharma, owner of the famous Empire Chemist Shop in Dwarka, says that the sales at his 25-year-old shop have increased by about 30 percent in 2025 as compared to the last two years. Small children, youth and the elderly are all involved in this. This time, there have been more cases of fever along with shortness of breath and many patients have to take medicine for 15 to 20 days.

These medicines are in highest demand

According to Robin Sharma, Actolin, Seroflo and Aerocot inhalers have been sold the most. The demand for Budacort and Dualin Respules, Montek LC and Acebrohyaline has also increased rapidly. There has been a huge increase in the consumption of not only respiratory medicines, but also antibiotics and children’s syrups.

It is dangerous to take medicine on your own

Both chemists and doctors insist that medicines are not toffee or chocolate. Taking medicine without doctor’s advice can be harmful. Even if the disease is the same, each member of the family needs different tests and medicines. There is a risk of side effects by taking the medicine for a long time, hence the time and quantity prescribed by the doctor should be followed only.

Responsibility of both government and citizens

Experts say that controlling pollution is not only the responsibility of the government but of every citizen. Planting trees at home, carpooling, reducing the use of non-essential electric appliances and getting children into the habit of planting trees can be small but effective steps. The need of the hour is to promote no-combustion zones and electric vehicles around schools and hospitals.

If your health is not good then your income is useless.

The doctors’ warning is clear that if action is not taken now, the money we are trying to earn will be spent on treatment. Maintaining hydration in winter, going to the park at the right time and regular use of mask is the biggest protection. In the end, more than medicines, only your caution and vigilance can keep you safe.
