Actually, till now women used to travel for free in buses through ‘Pink Ticket’, but now they will have to carry One Delhi Smart Card with them.

The only main objective of the Delhi government through this decision is to make the transport system completely transparent for the future. At the same time, women were facing many problems while traveling with pink tickets. According to the information, the Delhi government did not have any accurate data of how many women had traveled on which route and at what time. However, with the advent of smart cards, the government will continue to get accurate information related to women’s travel. Under this scheme, along with increasing the number of buses, a major improvement will be made in all the route management of the capital.

Know here what is ‘One Delhi’ smart card?

It is being said that this is a kind of multi-modal card which can be used very easily in both bus and metro. Apart from this, specially registered cards will also be issued to women by the bus administration for free ride. Women will have to take special care that as soon as they board the bus, they will have to immediately place their card on the machine. During this period, no money will be deducted from their account, but their entire journey will be recorded.

What benefit will women get from smart card?

There are many benefits of getting a smart card. Where, first of all, women will not have to buy tickets in long queues. Along with this, Delhi government will also keep getting information about which areas have the highest number of women, so that maximum number of buses can be operated in those areas. Apart from this, tracking the journey through the card will further increase the safety of women.

How can women get their smart card made?

Delhi government will soon organize special camps to get this card made. Not only this, registration facility will also be provided at all the bus depots, metro stations of Delhi and through ‘One Delhi’ app. However, for this you may most likely need to carry Aadhar card and residence certificate of Delhi with you.

At present, this very important step of Delhi Government will not only strengthen the safety of women as before but it is also expected to bring a major improvement in many route managements of Delhi. Apart from this, the Delhi government has especially appealed to the women to keep an eye on the official announcements related to this card as soon as possible and get the smart card made in time.

A big facility is coming for the women of Delhi in 2026. Delhi government will end the Pink Ticket system and start Pink Saheli Smart Card.

With this card, women will be able to travel free in Delhi buses. While boarding the bus, the card will have to be tapped on the conductor’s ETM machine. To avail the benefits of the scheme, the woman must be at least 12 years of age and her permanent address must be in Delhi.

Aadhaar card with Delhi address will be mandatory. This facility will be available only for women living in Delhi. The government is planning to implement it from January 26, 2026. Smart cards will be made by DTC at special counters. This is a digital, transparent and misuse-free version of the Pink Ticket of 2019.
