Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway on Tuesday. Before this, he will go to inspect a wildlife corridor in Uttar Pradesh and will also offer prayers at a Kali temple in Uttarakhand. An official said in a statement that the Prime Minister will review the wildlife corridor in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

According to the information, Prime Minister Modi will visit and worship at Jai Maa Daat Kali temple located near Dehradun at around 11.40 am. After this, at around 12.30 pm, he will inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor in a public function in Dehradun and address the gathering on this occasion. Along with this, the 213 km long six-lane access-controlled Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor has been developed at a cost of more than Rs 12,000 crore.

Instead of 6 hours, now only 2.30 hours

The statement said that this corridor passes through the states of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and this will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from more than six hours at present to about two and a half hours. The implementation of this project also includes construction of 10 interchanges, three Railway Over Bridges (ROBs), four major bridges and 12 wayside facilities to enable seamless high-speed connectivity.

At the same time, Advanced Traffic Management System (ATM) has been installed in the corridor to provide passengers a safer and more efficient travel experience. It said that keeping in mind the ecological sensitivity of the area, rich biodiversity and wildlife, the corridor has been designed with several features aimed at reducing man-animal conflict to a great extent.

To ensure unhindered movement of wild animals, several special measures for wildlife conservation have been included in the project. These also include the 12 kilometer long Wildlife Upgrade Corridor, which is one of the longest corridors in Asia. This corridor also includes eight paths for animals, two 200 meter long underpasses for elephants and a 370 meter long tunnel near the Daat Kali temple.

Expressway will increase tourism

The Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor will play an important role in strengthening regional economic development by enhancing connectivity between major tourism and economic hubs as well as opening new avenues of trade and development across the region.

A statement issued by the PMO said that this project reflects the vision of Prime Minister Modi to develop next generation infrastructure that combines high-speed connectivity with environmental sustainability and better quality of life for citizens.
