Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (14 April 2026) inaugurated the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway built at a cost of about Rs 12 thousand crores. Through the six-lane 213 kilometer long expressway, the journey between the two cities will be reduced to two and a half hours. Earlier, PM Modi held a road show in Dehradun in which a huge crowd of people gathered on both sides of the road to see him.

Why did PM Modi apologize to the people?

PM Modi said, ‘First of all, I apologize to you all. I also apologize to the people associated with the program in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. It took me more than an hour to reach here. You guys had to wait for a long time. I left on time, but there was so much excitement during the road show of about 12 kilometers that it became difficult to drive fast. Slowly and gradually taking the blessings of the people, it took me more than an hour to reach here.

Delhi-Dehradun Expressway a big achievement: PM Modi

PM Modi said, ‘Uttarakhand has completed 25 years of its establishment and has entered its 26th year. Today, with the inauguration of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, another major achievement has been added to this progress. After seeing Baba Kedar, it spontaneously came out of my mouth that the third decade of this century will be the decade of Uttarakhand. I am very happy that with the double engine policies of the government and the hard work of the people of Uttarakhand, this young state is adding new dimensions of development. This project will also give new impetus to the progress of the state.

The entire area will be rejuvenated: PM Modi

He said, ‘These economic corridors are new doors, gateways, doors to progress. There is also a thread of hope attached to them. Apart from roads, these economic corridors create routes for new trade and business, and prepare the base for warehouses and factories. This entire area is also going to be rejuvenated through the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor.
