There is a good news for the daughters of the capital Delhi. The Delhi government has announced that about 40 thousand beneficiaries of Ladli scheme will be paid on 1 October. This amount will be distributed in a special program to be held at Talkatora Stadium during Seva Pakhwara.

For the last few months, many families were waiting for payment. The government conducted a special investigation campaign in all the districts to remove this delay. The officials made a list of girls whose application process was incomplete, who had changed the school or left the study in the middle. Now the preparations for payment have been completed by dealing with all the stuck cases.

Start and benefit of the plan

The Ladli scheme was started in Delhi in January 2008. Its purpose is to encourage the birth of daughters and give them financial support at every stage of studies. Under the scheme, Rs 11,000 is given for birth in the institute, and an amount of Rs 10,000 is given for birth at home. After this, Rs 5,000 is paid for admission in classes 1, 6, 9 and 10.

When will you get money?

This amount is not found directly in the hand. It is deposited as a term deposit in SBI (State Bank of India) Life Insurance. The family can withdraw this amount with interest after completing the girl’s 18 years or completing 10th studies. It can be used to start higher education, skill training or small enterprise of the baby.

Who are the characters?

Only those girls who have been born in Delhi will get the benefit of Ladli scheme and whose families have been living in Delhi for at least three years. The annual income of the family should be less than one lakh rupees and only two daughters can come under the purview of this scheme. Also, the girl’s name is necessary to be in a Delhi government, MCD or NDMC recognized school.

Why is the plan special?

The Delhi government believes that this scheme will not only promote the education of girls, but will also create a positive atmosphere regarding the birth of daughters in families. Also, this effort will help reduce the number of girl students who leave school and give them financial security for the future.

Where else is the Ladli sister scheme going on in the country?

Ladli schemes in different states of India have been started to promote the birth and education of daughters. Every state applied it to a different time according to its need and policy. As –

Delhi Ladli Yojana – Delhi government started this scheme from 1 January 2008. Its purpose is to provide financial support to daughters from birth to education.

Ladli Laxmi Yojana (Madhya Pradesh) – This scheme was implemented in Madhya Pradesh in 2007. Emphasis has been laid on the education and future security of girls here.

Ladli Laxmi Yojana (Goa) – Government of Goa launched this scheme on 6 July 2012. Under this, daughters are given financial help for marriage and education.

Chief Minister Ladli Bahna Yojana (Madhya Pradesh) – This scheme was announced to implement on 28 January 2023. Through this, financial assistance is given to women and daughters.

It is clear that these schemes started at different times in different states give the same message- daughters are not burden, the strength of society.

In which states plans

Statistics show that Rajasthan and West Bengal are considered at the top of this list. There are about 48 schemes related to women and daughters in Rajasthan, while around 47 schemes are being run in West Bengal. For years, these two states have put a series of schemes for daughters at every level from education to marriage and security.

Rajasthan’s initiative

In Rajasthan, Mukhyamantri Rajshree Yojana, Girls Education Promotion Scheme and many scholarship programs encourage girls for education. Apart from this, assistance is provided from financial support to secondary and higher education on the birth of daughter. The focus of the state government is to reduce the dropout rate of girls and motivate them for higher education.

Kanyashree Project of West Bengal

The Kanyashree Project Scheme of the West Bengal government has also been recognized internationally. The objective of this scheme is to stop child marriage and provide financial help to girls for studies. Daughters of poor families are given financial assistance every year for class 8 to 12 and special incentives are received on continuing to study till graduation. This scheme has changed the lives of millions of girls so far.

Plans of other states

Ladli Laxmi Yojana of Madhya Pradesh provides financial assistance from birth to graduation to daughters of poor families. Under the Ladli scheme in Delhi, girls are given assistance to school education. The Bangaru Talli scheme of Andhra Pradesh also provides economic security from birth to completion of education. In Tamil Nadu, initiatives like Chief Minister Balika Suraksha Yojana are going on, which emphasize social and economic security for daughters.

Talking about Uttar Pradesh, the main plan here is the Chief Minister Kanya Sumangla Yojana, which provides financial assistance at every stage from the birth of the daughter to her graduation. Apart from this, there is also a subsidy scheme for the wedding of daughters of widows and destitute women, which is useful in their marriage.

There are challenges of every state

In such a situation, it is clear that Rajasthan and West Bengal are counted among the most schemes for girls. However, initiatives of other states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi and Tamil Nadu are also notable. Rajasthan and West Bengal are at the forefront of the number, but in terms of impact and implementation, every state has its own specialty and challenges.
