Delhi’s air has once again become poisonous. The situation is such that even breathing is becoming difficult here. On Saturday (November 8) evening, the average air quality index (AQI) of the capital reached 372, which falls in the poor category. The situation is even worse in many areas of Delhi. AQI was recorded at 417 in Alipore, 408 at ITO, 407 in Nehru Nagar, 403 in Patparganj and 404 in Punjabi Bagh.

According to the data of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) Sameer App, AQI was 361 till 4 pm, which increased to 372 within a few hours. This means that the air quality in many parts of the capital has reached dangerous levels. After these figures, Delhi became the most polluted city in the country.

The situation in the National Capital Region (NCR) is also worrying. AQI has reached 354 in Noida and very poor level in Gurugram also. Data was recorded from 39 monitoring stations of the city through the Central Pollution Control Board Sameer App.

AQI of these areas is beyond 400

This figure has crossed 400 in these areas of Delhi. These include Alipur (417), ITO (408), Punjabi Bagh (404), Nehru Nagar (407), Patparganj (403), Ashok Vihar (402), Sonia Vihar (401), Jahangirpuri (409), Rohini (408), Vivek Vihar (415), Narela (412), Wazirpur (424), Bawana (424), Chandni Chowk (400). And reached the level of Burari crossing (420).

Air Quality Index in Delhi-NCR

In the National Capital Region, 354 cases were recorded in Noida, 336 in Greater Noida and 339 in Ghaziabad. It has reached very dangerous levels in all these areas. Let us tell you, on Friday the air quality index in Delhi was measured at 322.

Due to which the capital came on top among the most polluted cities. According to the Air Quality Early Warning System, the air quality of the city is expected to remain very poor for the next several days. According to CPCB standards, if AQI is between 0 to 50 then it is considered in the category of ‘good’, 51-100 ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 ‘moderate’, 201-300 ‘poor’, 301-400 ‘very poor’ and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.

Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University is once again surrounded by violence and allegations. A general body meeting was held on 15 October at the School of Social Sciences of JNU. During this, a heated clash broke out between two groups of students. According to the information, many students have been injured in this clash, including female students.

SFI and AISA, which are left-affiliated organizations, allege that ABVP members turned the meeting violent. Whereas ABVP says that the fight started after the objectionable remarks of the leftist councillor. Who had said derogatory things about the students of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Both groups of students are accusing each other of violence.

ABVP accused leftist organization

ABVP has launched a scathing attack on leftist groups regarding this violence. In a statement issued by the ABVP student organization, it has been said that there was a general body meeting in the School of Social Sciences of JNU, in which a counselor associated with the leftist group made extremely discriminatory remarks.

It is alleged that the counselor said in the meeting that students from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and people associated with ABVP are not eligible to come to JNU, they should be thrown out of the auditorium and this campus. After this statement the atmosphere of GBM became tense.

Female students also accused of assault

When students associated with ABVP protested peacefully and tried to present their views democratically, they were attacked by leftist students. Many students were injured in this violence, including female students. ABVP termed the attack on female students by leftist groups as extremely shameful and condemnable.

At the same time, ABVP and JNU administration also strongly condemned this entire incident and said that this incident is a direct attack on the democratic and intellectual traditions of JNU. JNU Students Union Joint Secretary Vaibhav Meena said that it is natural to have differences of opinion, but spreading violence and regional hatred in response to disagreement is against democracy.

Students coming from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar or any state have equal dignity. No one has the right to insult or attack anyone on the basis of region, ideology or organization.

Controlling the passenger crowd at the railway stations and Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) of the capital Delhi during festivals is a big challenge, to deal with which the Railways and Transport Department have made special arrangements for passenger management at the stations and bus terminals so that uncontrolled crowding on the platforms and bus stands is not created and passengers can be ensured safe travel.

In view of the increasing crowd during the festive season, a new system is being implemented for crowd control at New Delhi Railway Station, under which now passengers with reserved tickets will also be kept in the ‘holding area’ for some time before reaching the platform.

Temporary Holding Zone for Reserved Passengers

Railways is preparing a temporary holding area towards Ajmeri Gate, where passengers with reserved tickets will be kept 60 to 90 minutes before the train departure. Only after this they will be given entry on the platform. This system is being implemented keeping security in mind after the overcrowding incident in February.

According to railway officials, this will prevent chaos at the station and the movement of passengers will remain controlled.

Apart from this, the permanent holding area already prepared for passengers with unreserved tickets has been made more convenient. Railways plans to depart most of the unreserved trains from platform number 16, so that passengers do not have to cross the foot overbridge and can directly reach their platform. Additional deployment of RPF soldiers will also be done in this area.

Security arrangements will be strengthened

In view of the crowd on the occasion of festival, Railways has decided to deploy additional RPF force at New Delhi and Anand Vihar stations. CCTV cameras are being installed in the temporary and permanent holding areas of both the stations. At the same time, new X-ray machines have also been installed in the permanent holding area to check luggage.

Railway officials say that this time equal emphasis has been given on both security and management so that passengers do not face any inconvenience.

Delhi Division DRM Pushpesh Tripathi inspected the Ajmeri Gate holding area on Friday. This area is almost ready and the inspection report has been sent to the ministry. It is expected that it will be formally inaugurated in the next two to three days. Officials say that this new system will play an important role in crowd management at railway stations during the upcoming festivals.

Strong arrangements for crowd control at ISBT also

Special arrangements are also being made in view of the festivals at major inter-state bus terminals of Delhi, such as Kashmere Gate (Maharana Pratap ISBT), Sarai Kale Khan ISBT, and Anand Vihar ISBT. Under this, to improve the movement of passengers and buses at Kashmiri Gate ISBT, separate entry-exit routes have been made so that the crowd can be directed.

At Sarai Kale Khan ISBT, safe and extended waiting areas have been created for waiting passengers, and line management will be done by installing barriers and railings. At the same time, since Anand Vihar is connected to ISBT railway station, arrangements have been made to operate the passenger stream in a coordinated manner so that there is no jam in passenger transition (bus to train or train to bus).

If BJP’s vote theft is stopped, Congress will win Delhi Corporation by-election, Devendra Yadav’s big claim
