The process of heavy rains continues in Delhi since this morning. There is water logging on the roads, which has put a brake on the speed of the capital. Traffic is disrupted due to waterlogging in many parts like ITO, Dhaula Kuan, Patel Nagar and Rohini. In the busy morning, this rain became a problem for the people. On the other hand, there has been a huge jam near Akshardham Setu on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. Vehicles are moving forward crawling due to jam.

Due to heavy rains on the previous day, water was flooded on the streets of Delhi, due to which the office and school going to the school had to face a lot of problems. After the rain, many videos are going viral on social media. One of these videos was also shared by former Delhi CM and AAP leader Atishi on X.

In the video, the water filled on the streets of Kamla Nagar Market is clearly visible. Commenting on this, Atishi wrote, “This is the condition of Kamla Nagar after 10 minutes of rain! This is the amazing 4 engine government!” He tagged Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and PWD Minister Parvesh Verma and raised the question- “Where are the Chief Minister, where is PWD Minister?”

What does the meteorological department estimate?

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the capital recorded 8 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. On Tuesday morning, the minimum temperature was 26.8 degrees Celsius, which is 0.5 degrees below the average. The Meteorological Department has predicted moderate rain and cloudy today, while the maximum temperature is expected to be around 30 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was 87 at 9 am, which falls in the ‘satisfactory’ category. According to CPCB, AQI 0-50 is considered ‘good’, 51-100 is considered ‘satisfactory’ and 101-200 is considered ‘moderate’. Heavy rains gave some relief in air pollution, but the public was troubled by waterlogging and traffic jam.

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding heavy rains and thunderstorms in many states. On behalf of the department, people have been appealed to take precautions while leaving the house. It has also been advised to avoid non -essential travel. This alert has been issued regarding East Rajasthan, Western and East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar and West Bengal by posing on X by the Meteorological Department.

It has been said by the Meteorological Department that there is a possibility of strong storm in these states. It has also been told that incidents like lightning may also occur in some areas. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert stating that there is a possibility of strong wind in Assam, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, southern Karnataka and Uttarakhand at a speed of 50-60 kmph and there is a possibility of storm in these states.

Rain in Delhi broke many years record

Some areas of Himachal Pradesh are likely to blow strong winds at different places in West Bengal and Sikkim at a speed of 40-50 kmph. A warning of hailstorm has been issued in different areas of Odisha and southern Karnataka.

It has been told by Nagpur Meteorological Department that there is a possibility of strong storms in Gondia, Bhandra, Nagpur, Wardha, Amravati, Yavatmal and many other cities of Vidarbha. There is a possibility of wind in these places at a speed of 30-40 km per hour and light rain may also occur. Meanwhile, the capital Delhi recorded 78 mm of rain till 8:30 am on Friday. Since 1901, so much rain has made a new record in just 24 hours in May.

Imd weather update: The temperature in India is expected to be higher than normal from April to June and can run more days in Central and Eastern India as well as northwest plains. This was stated by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday (March 31, 2025).

IMD chief Mrityunjay Mahapatra said that the maximum temperature in most parts of the country except some areas of western and eastern India will be higher than normal. The temperature is likely to be normal in both these areas. Mahapatra said, “From April to June, most parts of North and Eastern India, Central India and North-West India’s plains are likely to run two to four days more than normal.” Usually, India is used for four to seven days from April to June.

Possibility of higher temperature than normal

He said that the minimum temperature in most areas is also likely to be higher than normal. An IMD official had earlier said that the number of heat days during summer in northwest India can double. During the summer season in this area, the heat is usually five to six days.

Lu will run in these states

The states where there are expected of heat -troops for more than normal include Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and the northern parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

In April, most parts of India are expected to be higher than normal. However, temperatures may be normal in some areas of far southern and northwest areas. Mahapatra said that the minimum temperature in most parts of the country would be higher than normal, except in some places in northwest and northeast, where the temperature can be normal or slightly lower than normal.

Electricity consumption will increase

Experts have said that India should be prepared for an increase of 9 to 10 percent in the demand for electricity in the summer season this year. Last year, the maximum demand for electricity across the country crossed 250 GW on 30 May, which was 6.3 percent more than the estimates made earlier. Climate change is one of the major factors that increase electricity demand.
