The condition of pollution in Delhi is not hidden from anyone. Many times the situation becomes such that even breathing becomes difficult. But in the month of November, not Delhi but Ghaziabad of Uttar Pradesh was the most polluted city in the country. This shocking claim has been made in a report.

The monthly average PM 2.5 concentration in Ghaziabad in November was 224 micrograms per cubic meter and the air quality remained above national standards for all 30 days. In fact, the report of think tank ‘Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air’ states that Noida, Bahadurgarh, Delhi, Hapur, Greater Noida, Baghpat, Sonipat, Meerut and Rohtak were included in the 10 most polluted cities along with Ghaziabad.

According to the report, six of these cities were from Uttar Pradesh. After that there were three places of Haryana and Delhi. Except Delhi, all other cities included in the top 10 recorded higher PM 2.5 levels compared to last year.

Delhi stood fourth

Delhi was the fourth most polluted city in November, with the monthly average PM 2.5 concentration at 215 micrograms per cubic metre, almost double the October average of 107. The city experienced 23 very bad days, six severe days and one poor day.

CREA said that the impact of stubble burning was less this year, its share in Delhi’s pollution in November was on average 7 percent, whereas last year it was 20 percent. CREA said that this year the maximum effect of stubble burning was 22 percent, which is much less than the 38 percent recorded last year.

The wind was not good as per the standards even for a day

Barring Bahadurgarh, the air in none of these 10 cities remained within the safe daily limits under national standards for even a single day. Many other cities including Charkhi Dadri, Bulandshahr, Jind, Muzaffarnagar, Gurugram, Khurja, Bhiwani, Karnal, Yamunanagar and Faridabad also recorded PM 2.5 levels above the limit every day.

Pollution increased compared to last year

CREA analyst Manoj Kumar said, “Despite a significant reduction in the impact of stubble burning, 20 out of 29 cities in NCR recorded higher pollution levels than last year and in many cities not a single day was still recorded within the NAAQS limits. This clearly indicates that the major drivers are year-round sources such as transportation, industry, power plants and other combustion sources. “Without sector-specific emissions reductions, cities will continue to violate the standards.”

More pollution in 23 cities of Rajasthan

At the state level, Rajasthan had the highest number of polluted cities, with pollution levels exceeding the national limit in 23 out of 34 cities in November. Haryana had 22 out of 25 cities where pollution levels were above the national standard, while 14 out of 20 cities in Uttar Pradesh, 9 out of 12 cities in Madhya Pradesh, 9 out of 14 cities in Odisha and 7 out of 8 cities in Punjab also reported high levels.

Delhi High Court has expressed strong displeasure over the negligence being done regarding the repair and safety of drains in Delhi. The court clearly said that this is not just an administrative issue, but a matter related to people’s lives. The court reprimanded both MCD and Delhi Jal Board and directed them to take immediate action.

During the hearing, the court was told that MCD does not have enough money for essential works like covering the flood chamber, installing barricades along the drains and preventing waterlogging. On this, the High Court directed the Delhi Government to immediately investigate the financial condition of the corporation.

MCD Commissioner Ashwini Kumar told the court that the corporation is going through a serious financial crisis and it is becoming difficult to implement many of the court’s instructions.

The matter is actually related to the suo motu cognizance which was taken on waterlogging in a residential colony in Delhi. The court was told that as per earlier instructions, porous drains have been made so that water does not stagnate, but the work of barricading has stopped due to lack of budget.

MCD Commissioner said that Rs 1 to 1.5 crore is required for covering the drains and barricading. The corporation has liabilities of about Rs 15,791 crore. The Finance Commission has not even been constituted. MCD says that it is trying to raise resources at its level, but the economic situation is very bad.

High Court made strict remarks

Expressing concern over the arguments of MCD, the court said that this situation directly impacts the safety of children, elderly and common people. Justice Prabhat M. Singh said during the hearing that you have to hold your hand at every step, it is very difficult. The court issued a tender and ordered to complete the work of covering the drain and barricading within three months.

Delhi Jal Board also fell under attack

Delhi Jal Board (DJB) also got reprimanded in the hearing. The court said that DJB did not raise objection in time, and is now bringing to light the existence of two big pipelines at the site of reconstruction of the drain.

The court directed that MCD and DJB should work together. Find solutions instead of blaming each other. The court made it clear that such disputes halt work and cause harm to the public. The High Court has fixed the next hearing of the case for December 19 and expressed hope that by then both MCD and Delhi Jal Board will show concrete progress.

SP MP Dimple Yadav has expressed concern over the crisis of delay and cancellation of Indigo flights that continues for the fourth consecutive day at Delhi Airport. He said that the kind of environment created in the airlines is causing a lot of trouble to the passengers and the government should immediately intervene. Yadav clearly said that whatever support is required from the government to Indigo, it should be given so that the problems of the passengers can be reduced.

IndiGo’s turmoil has affected thousands of passengers at major airports across the country. More than 400 flights were reported canceled on Friday, December 5, 2025 alone. Delays and cancellations over the past four days have caused massive congestion, long queues and anger among passengers. The airline has issued an apology saying that its team is working to normalize operations as soon as possible.

What does Indigo say on canceled flights?

Indigo has attributed its delays and canceled flights to several reasons. According to the company, minor technology glitches, winter schedule changes, bad weather, air traffic congestion and new FDTL crew rostering rules have had a compounding negative impact on the entire system. The airline also said that it was not possible to anticipate such an impact, hence the sudden pressure on operations. On December 4, IndiGo’s on-time performance at six metro airports was only 8.5%.

Steps should be taken immediately – Dimple Yadav

Dimple Yadav asked the government to take immediate steps to provide relief to the passengers. He says that the sooner the airline gets technical, operational and staffing support, the sooner the situation will improve. According to ANI, he also added that passengers are facing the most problems at this time and the government’s priority should be to provide them facilities. Keeping in mind the interests of passengers, this issue is being considered serious at the national level and updates are being issued continuously by the airlines till the situation becomes normal.

The level of pollution in the national capital Delhi is not showing any signs of decreasing. On Thursday morning, December 4, the air quality index was recorded in the ‘hazardous’ category with 335. This level indicates a very bad situation for the fourth consecutive day, due to which the serious threat to people’s health has increased. According to CPCB, the situation may remain worse for the next few days.

In many areas of Delhi, AQI was recorded at 372 on Tuesday and 342 on Wednesday. In Nehru Nagar this level had reached 378 on Tuesday. The air quality in RK Puram, Burari, Anand Vihar, Mundka, Bawana, Vivek Vihar, Alipore, Shadipur and North Campus remained in the ‘very poor’ category.

Delhi’s air will not improve!

According to the air quality early warning system, the AQI in the capital is expected to remain ‘very poor’ for the next few days. The effect of pollution may increase further due to fog at night and less wind during the day. On Wednesday, the contribution of smoke emanating from vehicles was recorded at 16 percent, while on Thursday it is estimated to be 14.3 percent. In today’s air quality of major cities, AQI 278 was recorded in Delhi, Noida 268, Ghaziabad 313, Gurugram 276 and Greater Noida 274.

Drop in temperature, coldest day recorded

Whereas in Delhi-NCR, Wednesday 3rd December was the coldest day of December, when the maximum temperature was recorded at 23.7 degrees Celsius, which is 1.6 degrees less than normal. The minimum temperature fell to 5.1 degrees Celsius, which is 4 degrees below normal. IMD has predicted moderate fog on Thursday also and the maximum temperature will be 23 degrees and the minimum temperature will be six degrees.

According to senior scientists of IMD, the period of severe winter is going to start in NCR. According to the Meteorological Department, after December 4, the night temperature may suddenly drop to record levels and cold winds during the day may bring the temperature further down. The minimum temperature in Delhi today is expected to be 5 degrees, while in Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad and Greater Noida it will be around 8 degrees. The maximum day temperature will also be around 22 degrees. In such a situation, the coming 48 hours may prove to be challenging for Delhi-NCR in terms of both pollution and cold.

There is great news for those traveling from Delhi to Dehradun. The Delhi portion of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway has now been opened for public on trial basis from Akshardham to Loni Border. With the opening of this route, uninterrupted high speed traffic has become possible in the most congested areas across the Yamuna and the goal of reaching Dehradun in 2.5 hours now appears closer than ever.

32 km. This long section connects the interchanges of Delhi-Meerut and Delhi-Dehradun Expressways and significantly reduces the total travel time. Let us know about this expressway in details.

No toll applicable inside Delhi

Starting from Akshardham till Loni Border and the first cut of Eastern Peripheral, this entire stretch is providing uninterrupted connectivity. This approximately 14.75 km long section in the Delhi border has been developed on two levels as elevated at the top and main carriageway at the bottom. The expressway has a speed limit of 100 km/h and no toll is applicable within Delhi. The distance from Akshardham to Loni border is being covered comfortably in just 20–25 minutes, while CCTV, sound barrier and full surveillance systems have been installed on the entire route which ensures security and smooth traffic flow.

The biggest hurdle of this project was the 6.4-6.5 km elevated flyover of Geeta Colony, which has now been completely opened for traffic. Earlier, trains had to pass through extremely congested areas like lower local roads, Pusta Road and Gandhinagar market, where it was difficult to maintain the speed above 20-30 km/h. Now this 9 km journey is being completed in just 10 minutes. With the opening of this elevated track, congested areas like Gandhinagar, Shastri Park, Seelampur, Khajuri Khas and Bhajanpura have practically “disappeared from above” and the traffic congestion below is only visible, not felt.

What else are the features?

The entire route has been designed as a 12-lane high speed corridor, with a 6-lane elevated track at the top and the main carriageway and service lanes at the bottom. Lane marking, road reflectors, sound barriers and anti-glare screens have been installed at various places. Multi-level infrastructure is now ready in areas like Yamuna crossing, where there is local road at the bottom, Metro Pink Line in the middle and expressway at the top. Many footover bridges have also been built to provide safe crossing to pedestrians, due to which there is no impact on high speed traffic.

In terms of toll, at present no fee is being charged in the Delhi part. As soon as vehicles cross the Loni border and enter UP, the first toll plaza comes up, although toll collection has not started yet as the entire project is going on in the trial phase. As the remaining parts are ready in the coming months, the toll policy will also be implemented.

When the entire expressway is ready, a target has been set to cover the distance of 210 km from Akshardham to Dehradun in about 2.5 hours. This corridor will also provide connectivity to Haridwar, Rishikesh and further Chardham route. This means that the journey from Delhi to religious and tourist places of Uttarakhand is now going to be fast, safe and without any interruption. It is estimated that the entire route will be opened to the public by February 2026.

Last month, the maximum demand for electricity reached 4,486 MW on November 28, which is the highest demand of that month so far. Electricity distribution companies gave this information on Wednesday (December 3).

It is likely that the situation of electricity demand will remain the same in December also. In the first three days of this month, Delhi’s maximum power demand has crossed 4,200 MW. During this period in the last four years, the demand had never gone above 4,000 MW.

State Load Dispatch Center released data

According to the data of State Load Despatch Center (SLDC), Delhi, the maximum power demand of Delhi on Wednesday (December 3) was 4,299 MW. Distribution companies Tata Power DDL and BSES claimed that they are meeting this demand and are fully prepared to provide reliable electricity to the consumers.

Distribution companies said that this year on Friday (November 28) the maximum demand was recorded at about 4,486 MW, which is the highest figure for the month of November. Last year in November, the maximum power demand was 4,259 MW on November 8, 2024. Whereas in 2023 it was 4,320 MW, in 2022 it was 3,941 MW and in 2021 it was 3,831 MW.

BSES spokesperson gave this information

BSES spokesperson said, “The demand for electricity during winter in Delhi is creating new records. BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and BSES (Yamuna Power Limited) BYPL successfully met the power demand of 1865 MW and 890 MW respectively in their areas.

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd., which distributes electricity in North Delhi. (Tata Power DDL) said in the statement, “Electricity consumption in the second fortnight of November was the highest recorded compared to the same fortnight in the last five years.

BSES spokesperson further said, “BSES distribution companies have made elaborate arrangements to ensure uninterrupted and quality power supply during winters. This includes long-term collaboration and green energy sources to storage and AI-based forecasting.

He said, “The estimated demand this season in BRPL and BYPL areas is around 3,900 MW. Out of this, more than 50 percent demand will be met from renewable and clean energy sources.

maximum demand recorded

The maximum demand recorded this season in the company’s distribution area was 1,455 MW, which is much higher than the highest demand recorded in November in recent years. During summer this year, a record electricity demand of 8,442 MW was recorded in Delhi.

According to SLDC estimates, Delhi’s maximum power demand this winter is expected to reach around 6000 MW, which is more than last year’s maximum demand of 5,655 MW.

There is a very good news for those traveling between Delhi-Dehradun. Trial run has started on Delhi-Saharanpur-Dehradun Expressway. The foundation stone of this 210 km long project was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 4 December 2021.

Whose work has now been completed and now it has been opened for vehicular movement on a trial basis at 12 o’clock last Sunday night. Earlier, the barricades of the expressway near Geeta Colony were removed. After the completion of the trial run, it will be completely opened for public use.

With the opening of this expressway, the distance from Delhi to Dehradun will now be covered quickly and in a very short time. Whereas earlier it used to take 6 hours to go from Delhi to Dehradun, now with this the journey from Delhi to Dehradun can be completed in just two and a half hours.

Vehicle pressure will be reduced, Will get relief from jam

According to officials, this expressway will reduce the traffic pressure in the National Capital Region (NCT) of Delhi, especially Khajuri Khas and its surrounding areas and will reduce the burden on other major routes including the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. With the full operation of the highway, the travel time will be halved, which will provide great relief to the passengers and the number of tourists visiting Uttarakhand will also increase.

12 The journey will be completed in two and a half hours through the high-speed expressway built at a cost of thousand crores.

This state-of-the-art expressway will start from Delhi’s Akshardham Temple metro station from where it connects to the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, passing through Baghpat, Baraut, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli and Saharanpur of Uttar Pradesh and reach Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. This expressway starts as an elevated corridor from Geeta Colony, due to which the vehicles of Delhi will get relief from the jam.

This high-speed expressway, built at a cost of Rs 11,800 crore, will reduce the travel time from the current 6.5 hours to just 2.5 hours. Its maximum speed limit has been fixed at 100 kilometers per hour. The project also has a provision for a separate route to Haridwar which will also connect to the Char Dham Highway, which will make access to the hill stations and religious places of Uttarakhand and Western Uttar Pradesh even easier.

Asia’s longest elevated wildlife corridor

Keeping in mind the environmental sensitivity, Asia’s longest, 12 km elevated corridor has also been built within the Rajaji National Park in this project, so that the wildlife will be able to move easily below and they will not face any kind of threat from fast-moving vehicles.

To ensure safe movement of monkeys, special monkey ladders have been prepared by connecting trees so that they can cross comfortably without coming down on the road and accidents can be prevented. Protective fencing has been installed to prevent the entry of wild animals on the main road, which will reduce possible conflicts between vehicles and wildlife. Additionally, non-intrusive yellow lighting has been used to prevent attracting insects. To reduce noise pollution, sound barriers have also been installed on the sides of the expressway.

This ambitious project will not only bring a revolutionary change in the connectivity of North India, but will also give a new impetus to environment, pilgrimage and economic development.

A leader close to Arvind Kejriwal has reacted after the announcement of Awadh Ojha, a famous teacher and who contested the assembly elections in Delhi from the Aam Aadmi Party, announced his retirement from politics. Former minister in Delhi government and AAP leader Somnath Bharti said that Awadh Ojha ji did not do the right thing.

He said that a mature and distinguished person like you should have considered options before entering politics with AAP. We were confident that you would continue to work with us regardless of the election outcome.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Somnath Bharti wrote on social media platform

I have personal respect for you @OjhaAvadh57 Ji but politics is not a short term project and a person of your maturity and prominence should have weighed options before stepping into Politics and that too with @AamAadmiParty,

There were many who have worked hard since beginning… https://t.co/zjBNWfPkpD

— Somnath Bharti (@attorneybharti) December 2, 2025

‘Someone else could have been given ticket from Patparganj’

He further said, “Many people who worked hard from the beginning could have been given tickets from Patparganj, but the party gave you this opportunity with the belief that you will work with us regardless of the election results. AAP is the future of India and we should work hard to make it successful in all the states.

‘Nobody talks about people’s basic concerns’

Somnath Bharti asked, “Which party talks about improving education, healthcare and other basic needs of the common people, who form more than 90 per cent of India’s population?” Please listen to the speeches of BJP and Congress leaders, no one talks about the basic concerns of the common people.

After leaving politics, I am happier than before – Awadh Ojha

Let us tell you that well-known teacher Avadh Ojha has now completely distanced himself from politics. Recently he had announced his retirement from politics. He called this decision the best decision of his life. He believes that after leaving politics he is happier than before because now he has complete freedom to speak his mind.

In a post, he described the decision to retire from politics as personal and also called Arvind Kejriwal a great leader. It is noteworthy that Awadh Ojha had joined AAP just before the assembly elections in Delhi. The party had given him ticket from Patparganj assembly seat but he had to face defeat.
