Taking advantage of the elderly man’s amnesia, the accused transferred about Rs 2.57 lakh to the accounts of his associates through UPI transaction. According to the police, this fraud was committed between April 4, 2026 and April 15, 2026. Complainant Nitin Goyal had complained to the NCRP portal and cyber police station that suspicious online transactions were continuously taking place from his father’s bank account.

Shocking revelation made in investigation

Initially the family thought that some cyber thug had hacked the account, but as the investigation progressed, the shocking truth came to light. Investigation revealed that the accused was Devinder, who was working as a driver and domestic help in the family for the last 15 years. He was the one behind this incident.

The accused was fully aware of the old man’s illness and weak memory. As soon as he got a chance, he would use the old man’s mobile phone and transfer money through UPI. He was confident that due to Alzheimer’s the victim would not remember these transactions.

Cyber ​​police caught the young man during technical investigation

Police said that after the incident, the accused suddenly left the job on May 5 and absconded, so that no one could doubt him. After this, Cyber ​​​​Station Police started technical investigation. After scrutinizing the details of bank accounts, digital transactions and beneficiary accounts, the entire financial trail led to the accused.

The police team arrested the accused on May 8 from GTB Nagar area. During interrogation the accused confessed to his crime. He told that after winning the trust of the family, he got easy access to the house and mobile. Taking advantage of this, he transferred money secretly for several days. At present, the police is recovering the defrauded amount and further investigating the matter.
