In view of the new academic session, preparations for admission of small children in private schools of Delhi have started. The Directorate of Education has announced detailed rules and dates for parents waiting for admission in Nursery, KG and Class 1. The application process will start from 4th December and 27th December will be the last day.

Strictness on schools from keeping forms available to fee limit

The Directorate of Education has directed all recognized private schools to ensure that admission forms are available till the end and not more than Rs 25 should be charged for registration. Every school has the freedom to decide its own point system and eligibility criteria, but it has been made mandatory to upload all these details on the departmental website by November 28, so that there is no ambiguity in the process.

Selection will be based on 100 marks system

Admission will be completely based on point system out of 100 marks. Marks will be decided on parameters like distance, sibling, alumni etc. Every school will have to display this clearly on its website and notice board. This information will also be made available on the department’s portal.

First list in January, second in February

According to the Directorate of Education, the first selection list will be released on 23 January 2026. Whereas the second list will be released on 9 February 2026. Besides, the waiting list and marks given to the children will also be made public. No school will be able to change the fixed timetable.

Apart from online and offline, registration can also be done through QR code.

This time, many schools are also providing the facility of application through QR code to save the parents from long queues. Keeping in mind the instructions of the High Court, both online and offline mediums have been kept open. The objective of which is to make the entire process fair and transparent.

Clear age limit, avoid confusion

Age will be calculated considering 31st March 2026 as the base.

Nursery: 3–4 years

KG: 4–5 years

Class 1: 6–7 years

Parents are appealed to double-check the age limit of the child before filling the form, so that the application is not rejected later.

Draw process: Videography is mandatory in the presence of parents

Schools will have to ensure that if lottery has to be conducted for seats, the entire draw is conducted either through computer or through the traditional chit method, but only in the presence of parents. For which it is necessary to give information through email and notice board two days in advance. Videography of draws has also been made mandatory, and the slips will be shown to parents before being put in the box.

important dates

4 December 2025: Admission process started

27 December 2025: Last date of application

9 January 2026: Upload data of applicants for open seats

16 January 2026: Upload points for each child

5 March 2026: Next list if needed

19 March 2026: termination of process

Keep the documents organized in advance so that there is no delay in the application

It is mandatory to have these documents at the time of application.

Monitoring cell formed in every district, keeping a close eye on the rules

The directorate has constituted a monitoring cell in every district, whose responsibility is to ensure that schools upload their criteria on time.

Delhi private school news: The Delhi government has taken a tough stance on the arbitrary and random fees hike of private recognized non-aasted schools in the capital Delhi. The Directorate of Education was constantly receiving complaints from students and parents that many schools are increasing fees without any rules, due to which the parents are facing huge financial burden.

Taking these complaints seriously, the Directorate of Education has formed inspection committees at the district level. These committees are chaired by SDMs of the concerned area and along with the Deputy Director, Accounts Officer and Principal of government schools of the district and zone, their job is to conduct physical inspection of all private schools, especially those schools against whom complaints have been filed.

Over 600 schools inspected so far
More than 600 private schools in Delhi have been inspected by 16 April 2025 and the investigation of the remaining schools is going on fast. Strict action is being initiated against the schools which have been found to be arbitrary and who are accused of earning or commercialization.

The Directorate of Education has so far issued a show cause notice to more than 10 schools under Section 24 (3) of the Delhi School Education Act (DSEAR), 1973. In some cases, the process of canceling school recognition or taking control of management has also been initiated.

Many private schools did not give audit report
Inspection also revealed that many private schools are neither filing their fees details on time nor audit report, which is mandatory under the law, apart from this, complaints of dummy schooling in schools have also come to light. So far 20 such schools have been identified and action has also been initiated against them.

The Department of Education has also ensured that free books, uniforms and stationery to the economically weaker section (EWS), disadvantaged group (DG) and disabled students (CWSN) are the legal responsibility of all schools which are not following these rules, action will be taken against them under RTE Act, 2009 and DSEAR, 1973.

‘Will not be relaxed’
The Directorate of Education has reiterated that all private schools should maintain transparency in fees and follow the regulatory provisions completely. Recently, Delhi Public School Dwarka was reprimanded by the Delhi High Court for inhuman behavior with the students and as per the orders of the Education Department, the school was asked to desist from such activities.

Delhi news: Politics has become hot due to schools in Delhi. Ashish Sood, a minister in Rekha Gupta government, has retaliated by the Aam Aadmi Party’s charge. Ashish Sood said, our first priority is that commercialization of any kind of schools in Delhi will not tolerate, it is the priority of the Delhi government.

Amid the ongoing politics on private schools in Delhi, Rekha Gupta government will conduct audit of all 1677 private schools in Delhi. The team of three members will audit the SDM. In 10 days, the education department will post data on the website. Which school has increased the fees of Delhi government in the last 10 years.

At the same time, on the arbitrariness of schools, parents can send a complaint directly from the Delhi government on ddeact1@gmail.com mail ID. Whatever school children will be cut, action will be taken.

Ashish Sood said, our first priority is that commercialization of any kind of schools in Delhi will not tolerate, it is the priority of the Delhi government. He said, we are running the government on the burden of expectations and the entire cabinet is working. Instead of giving the previous government, we are all engaged in what we should do. But if you want to call you again and again, what should we do. What were the leaders of the previous government doing corruption in the Education Minister. Unemployed leaders have to do something. Everyday your leaders do something that we open their pole.

‘If you do well, the public does not beat’
Ashish Sood said that there is no consistency. Earlier, he used to say that CBI is B team and now CBI is speaking for investigation. He said that I am challenging Manish Sisodia and go to the police station with evidence and get an FIR lodged. Do not treat the media like unemployed leader. If you did so well, then Delhi’s knowing does not know.

Minister Ashish Sood also said that there are 1 thousand 677 schools in Delhi, of which 375 are on government land and they have to get permission from the government. Till date, you have heard about the school running on private land. We are accusing us that they are conspiring to increase the fees.

He said, “The BJP will investigate who used to take bribe earlier. We would not allow the immoral increase in any way. The school has been scammed by 15 crores and you approved to increase the government by 15 percent. Similarly, during Atishi’s tenure, 13 percent fees increased in this school. One was allowed to increase the fees instead of scorching 15 crores.”

‘Audit should be held every year’
Minister Sood said, “2 private schools were accused of scandal but even after this, they had increased the fees and the Atishi government did not take any action. Today Atishi said and Manish Sisodia was saying that he will get the CAG an audit, but Manish Sisodia should conduct an audit of 75 schools only every year under Delhi Education Act, while Manish Sisodia will get an audit every year in 10 years.
