These days the weather patterns are constantly changing in Delhi. Sometimes there is strong sunshine, sometimes there are clouds and rain, the reason for this fluctuation is being considered to be Western Disturbance. According to the Meteorological Department, the coming days will also be full of similar changes. Talking about the last 24 hours, the weather in the capital and surrounding areas was quite pleasant. It remained cloudy throughout the day and there was light rain, due to which the temperature dropped and people got relief from the heat.

The weather is expected to be clear today (April 1). There may be strong sunshine during the day, although light clouds will also be visible at times. There is no possibility of rain or storm today.

Temperature will increase today and tomorrow

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature will increase on 1 and 2 April. The maximum temperature can reach around 37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 20-21 degrees. That means people will start feeling slight heat. But on 3rd and 4th April the weather will change once again.

There is a possibility of thunderstorm and rain with strong winds in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad. Due to this the temperature will drop and the maximum temperature can reach around 30 degrees.

It may rain in many parts of the country till April 10

Meteorologists say that the effect of Western Disturbance will still persist, especially in the hilly areas. Due to this, there may be intermittent rain in many parts of the country till April 10. At the same time, if we talk about pollution, the air quality in Delhi remains in the moderate category. AQI 171 has been recorded. March 2026 was the most polluted in the last four years, with an average AQI of 181.

Life became disrupted in the country’s capital Delhi on Wednesday (18 March) evening due to dust storm and rain with thunder. After this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for the city. IMD has sent an alert to all State Disaster Management Authorities (SDMAs). There is a possibility of bad weather in Central, Eastern, New Delhi, Northern, Northeastern, Northwestern, Shahdara, Southern, Southeastern, Southwestern and Western districts. At least 16 flights were diverted at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).

What did the weather department say?

According to the India Meteorological Department, ‘Orange Alert’ means ‘be prepared’. This means that the general public should be prepared for inclement weather, which may disrupt normal life. The Meteorological Department said in a statement, “During the next three hours, light to moderate rain, thundershowers and winds at a speed of 40-50 kilometers per hour are expected at many places in some parts of Delhi, the speed of which can go up to 60 kilometers per hour.”

Delhi News: Demand for audio traffic signal raised, visually impaired and elderly people will get support

Wind blowing at a speed of 65 km per hour

Around 7 pm in Palam, winds blew at a speed of 35 kilometers per hour, the speed of which later reached 50 kilometers per hour. The highest wind speed in the capital was recorded at Pragati Maidan of 68 kilometers per hour. Whereas in Pusa the wind speed reached 65 kilometers per hour.

There was power failure in many areas

Strong winds also blew in other parts of the city. Wind speed was 50 km per hour at Palam, 46 km per hour at Lodhi Road, 44 km per hour at Ignou, 41 km per hour at Naraina and 33 km per hour at Pitampura, indicating the widespread impact of the storm in the Delhi region. Due to strong winds, there was power failure in many areas of the capital and work was disrupted.

Palam fire incident: Government will give compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased, financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to the injured.

IMD issued advisory to people

The IMD issued several advisories urging people to stay indoors and away from weak or unsafe structures. People were warned to stay away from windows, electric poles and power lines. Farmers have been asked to temporarily stop work and take their animals to safer places. Drivers stranded in the storm have been asked to stop at a safe place and stay inside their vehicles instead of driving in the strong winds.

The weather remained largely clear in Delhi-NCR during the last 24 hours. There was less effect of mist and smog in the air, which brought some relief to the people. Cold winds kept blowing continuously at a speed of 18 to 20 kilometers per hour, which further increased the feeling of cold. Cold was felt more in the morning and night, but there was some relief due to sunlight during the day.

On Monday (January 26), the week also started with the movement of clouds. Even today strong and icy winds will continue to blow. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature may drop to 4 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is expected to be around 16 degrees Celsius. Due to strong winds, the cold will feel more stinging, especially in the morning and late night.

Air quality index i.e. AQI 228 has been recorded in Delhi today. This level still falls in the ‘bad’ category, although the situation can be said to be a little better as compared to the last few days. Due to cold and strong winds, the pollution particles have scattered to some extent, due to which the air feels a little cleaner.

The weather will worsen tomorrow

The weather of Delhi-NCR is going to deteriorate once again on Tuesday (January 27). There is a possibility of thunderstorm and rain due to the effect of an active western disturbance.

India Meteorological Department has issued forecast of rain in the morning, afternoon and night for 27 January. This means that the weather may remain changeable throughout the day and light to moderate rain may occur in many areas.

Yellow alert issued

The Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow alert regarding storm and rain on January 27. During this period, winds are likely to blow at a speed of 30 to 50 kilometers per hour. People have been advised to be cautious especially in open areas.

Effect of winter till 31st January

At present, till January 31, the havoc of winter does not seem to be subsiding in Delhi-NCR. It will remain cold due to temperature fluctuations and strong winds. People are being advised to wear warm clothes and keep an eye on weather updates.
