The car bomb blast that took place near the Red Fort in Delhi on the evening of 10 November has shaken the entire country. There was a huge explosion in an i20 car parked at a traffic signal on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Marg. The explosion took place at the Red Light near the Red Fort and at least six vehicles nearby were hit by the fire and explosion. So far, nine people are said to have died and more than 20 people are injured in this blast.

According to reports, initial investigation indicated that the car which exploded and the person sitting in it caused the explosion in a suicidal manner and hence it is being called a suicide attack. Such a pattern is being linked to a suicide attack as the motive behind the attack appears to be complete and suicidal. In such a situation, the word suicide attack is being heard again and again. What is the meaning of suicide attack?

Fidayeen is an Arabic word. Its meaning is one who sacrifices his life. A suicide attack is an attack in which the attacker deliberately sacrifices his life so as to cause maximum damage or to hit a specific target. In other words, it is a suicide attack where the attacker does not care about his death.

How is it carried out?

To carry out a suicide attack, the attacker himself goes to any place with explosives. Sometimes a vehicle is used, that is, the attacker reaches the target place with explosives in a car or van. In some incidents, the attacker has targeted a protected or large area, so that the damage can have a huge impact. Often, before attacking, targets are infiltrated quietly. Like buying a vehicle, hiding it in a parking lot or gathering near a building so that a timely attack can be made. If a suicide attacker reaches too close to the target, it becomes very difficult for the security forces to stop him. These attacks are often carried out at strategic or large places. Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired two review meetings on Tuesday to take stock of the security situation in the national capital and other parts of the country in the wake of the blast near the Red Fort. Amit Shah held a meeting in the morning and chaired another meeting in the afternoon. He said that instructions have been given to arrest each and every culprit behind this incident.

‘Each culprit will have to face consequences’

Home Secretary, NIA DG and officials of investigating agencies were present in this meeting. The Home Ministry has handed over the responsibility of investigating this blast to NIA. The Union Home Minister warned that every criminal will be brought to justice. He said, “In the review meeting with senior officials, instructions were given to search for the culprits. All those involved in this act will be given the harshest punishment.”

Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat also participated in this meeting through online medium. During the meeting, top officials gave information on the situation after the blast. The Home Ministry has also handed over the investigation of the blast to the NIA. This is a clear indication that the government has considered this blast as a terrorist act, because NIA has the authority to investigate only terrorist cases.

NIA is doing Delhi blast investigation of

The death toll in this blast has increased to 12. The Home Minister has said that top investigating agencies are investigating the blast and they will get to the bottom of the incident. Delhi Police on Tuesday (November 11, 2025) registered an FIR under UAPA in connection with the explosion near the Red Fort and conducted raids at several places in Delhi. The driver of the car which exploded on Monday evening allegedly had links with a Faridabad-based terrorist module.
