CTI Letter to PM Modi: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) in Delhi has claimed that the business of the capital has been badly affected due to continuous massive protests and security arrangements. The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding this issue, demanding an early solution.

The organization says that the number of customers in the markets has decreased rapidly, business has been affected and its widespread impact is being seen on the hotels, restaurants and service sectors along with the traders.

CTI Chairman Brijesh Goyal has said in a letter sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the ongoing protests in Delhi are having a direct impact on business and economy. According to the organization, there is a decline of about 70 percent in the daily business of about Rs 500 crore in the capital. CTI has urged the central government to find a solution by holding talks with the protesters.

Claim of business loss of Rs 1500 crore in 5 days

On the basis of information collected by CTI from major markets, hotels and restaurants, it has been claimed that there has been a loss of business worth about Rs 1500 crore in Delhi during the last five days. The organization says that during this period, the movement of customers in markets, hotels and restaurants has decreased by about 70 percent, due to which business activities have been seriously affected.

The number of customers coming from outside states also decreased

According to the organization, on normal days, about three lakh people come from outside every day for shopping in the markets of Delhi, but in the current situation their number has reduced drastically. This is affecting both wholesale and retail business.

Problems increased due to closure of 16 metro stations and jams

CTI said that the movement of people has been affected due to the closure of 16 metro stations due to security reasons. At the same time, due to continuous traffic jams in Jantar Mantar, Sansad Marg, Connaught Place and surrounding areas, customers are avoiding reaching the markets. This is having a direct impact on business activities.

National conference of traders also had to be postponed

CTI has also had to postpone its proposed business conference due to protests and traffic disruption. The conference was to be held on July 25 at the NDMC Convention Centre, in which more than 2000 businessmen from across the country were expected to attend.

Respect democracy, but business should also be avoided: Brijesh Goyal

CTI Chairman Brijesh Goyal said that Delhi is the largest business center of the country, where lakhs of people travel daily. He says that due to the ongoing protests at Jantar Mantar for the last five days and closure of metro stations, the work of about 15 lakh traders and 10 lakh MSME units has been affected.

He said that the organization respects democracy and the right to peaceful demonstration, but the central government should find a solution quickly through dialogue so that the impact on trade, tourism and employment can be reduced.

CTI placed two major demands before the government

CTI has made two major demands from the central government. First, an early solution to the ongoing dharna at Jantar Mantar should be found by holding immediate talks with the protesters so that normal activities can be resumed. Secondly, there should be a ban on demonstrations of more than one thousand people in Jantar Mantar and major government and commercial areas and a permanent place for protests should be developed in outer Delhi.

The organization has expressed hope that the government will take a quick decision on this issue and take necessary steps to provide relief to the traders, business establishments and common people of the capital.
