The traffic system in Delhi-NCR collapsed due to sudden change in weather on Tuesday (7th July) evening. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy rain, thunder and lightning and winds blowing at a speed of 30-40 km per hour for the next few hours. As soon as the rain started, there was a jam of about 10 kilometers long on the Gurugram-Delhi Expressway, while vehicles were seen crawling on many major routes including Dhaula Kuan, ITO, Ashram Chowk, Ring Road, Minto Bridge Underpass and Sarhaul Border.

Many underpasses are likely to be affected due to waterlogging, which may further worsen the traffic. The administration has appealed to the people to avoid unnecessary travel, not to take vehicles on waterlogged roads and adopt safe alternative routes. Long lines of vehicles are being seen at some places, due to which people may take more time than usual to reach home.

Delhi News: New cooperative policy will come in Delhi, there will be a big change in services from banking to transportation.

You will get relief if you go through these paths.

To reduce the traffic pressure, Barapula Flyover, Mayur Vihar Link Road, Akshardham Route and Peripheral Expressway can be a better option for those going towards outer Delhi. However, before leaving, be sure to check live traffic updates, because the situation can change rapidly with the weather.

Keep these things in mind while traveling

During rain, control the speed of your vehicle and drive with headlights on. Do not take the risk of passing through waterlogged underpasses or roads. Avoid stopping under trees and electric poles due to the possibility of strong wind and lightning. If there is no urgent work then it may be wise to wait for some time.

Many trees fell due to rain and storm in Delhi, vehicles buried in Greater Kailash, see pictures

The impact of bad weather in Delhi-NCR may persist on traffic till late evening. In such a situation, keeping an eye on weather and traffic updates before returning home can save both your time and trouble.

The traffic police has issued a special advisory regarding the IPL 2026 match to be held on Friday, May 8 in Delhi. In such a situation, Delhi Traffic Police has issued important guidelines regarding diversion, parking and entry on many routes.

There will be maximum traffic pressure on these routes

According to the traffic police, during and after the match, I.P. from Rajghat on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, JLN Marg, Asaf Ali Road and Ring Road. Vehicular movement may be affected in the stretch up to the flyover. If needed, diversions and traffic restrictions can be implemented from 5 pm to 12 midnight.

Apart from this, entry of heavy and commercial vehicles will be completely banned on some major routes. These include the area from Daryaganj to Delhi Gate Chowk, Delhi Gate to Guru Nanak Chowk and ITO to Delhi Gate Chowk.

Delhi News: Robbery on medicines of government hospitals, fake medicine factory was running in Delhi.

Which routes are advised to the travelers to avoid?

Delhi Traffic Police has advised people to avoid JLN Marg, Asaf Ali Road and Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and use alternative routes. Especially people returning from office and spectators going towards the stadium have been asked to leave with extra time.

Police say that more use of public transport will help in reducing traffic pressure. Commuters using metro and bus services may face less hassle.

Entry plan for those reaching the stadium

Routes to enter the stadium have been decided according to different gates. Spectators going from gate number 1 to 8 will get entry through BSZ route. Those reaching gate number 10 to 15 will have to enter from JLN route. For gate numbers 16 to 18, entry will be given from the petrol pump part of BSZ route. The traffic police has appealed to the spectators to choose the route according to the gate number written on their ticket, so that unnecessary crowd and jam can be avoided.

Park-and-ride facility will provide relief

Parking of normal vehicles will not be allowed around the stadium. Only authorized and labeled vehicles will be allowed entry into designated parking spaces. Special parking arrangements have been made for labeled vehicles near JP Park, Vikram Nagar, near JJB/Prayas office and between Gate No. 7-8. Apart from this, free parking and park-and-ride facility will be available for the general public on Mata Sundari Road, Rajghat Power House Road and Velodrome Road.

The traffic police has advised people to use the park-and-ride facility. Under this, people will be able to reach the stadium through shuttle buses by parking their vehicles at designated parking spots. This service will start about two hours before the start of the match and will continue till one hour after the end of the match. Bus services will also be available from Shanti Van parking and nearby service lanes.

Pick-up and drop points for app based taxis

Separate arrangements have also been made for passengers taking online cab services. The pick-up and drop point of app based taxi is near Gate No. 2, Maulana Azad Medical College, Rajghat Chowk and I.P. The flyover has been built on the service lane of the ring road between Rajghat. The police have appealed to the people to use only the designated places, so that the traffic system is not affected.

It is clearly stated in the advisory that vehicles parked on restricted roads will be immediately towed and legal action will also be taken as per the rules. The traffic police will keep a constant vigil and if needed, additional police force will also be deployed on the spot.

What kind of hooliganism is going on in the country? Sanjay Singh got angry when slogans were raised against Mahua Moitra in the flight.

Delhi Traffic Police has informed the general public that in view of the construction work of the metro station, a part of Pandit Pant Marg will remain closed for general traffic from February 23. This closure will be applicable from GRG circle to PM circle.

People are requested to be careful while traveling on the road during this period and use public transport as much as possible.

Use this route instead of Pandit Pant Marg

Due to closure of Pandit Pant Marg, arrangements for traffic diversion have been made. Vehicles coming from Gol Post Office towards Pandit Pant Marg have been advised to use Dr. Bishamber Das Marg and Gurudwara Rakabganj Road to reach Church Road.

At the same time, vehicles going from Church Road towards Pandit Pant Marg have been advised to use Gurudwara Rakabganj Road, Talkatora Road and Church Lane. The traffic police have included Sansad Marg, Patel Chowk Roundabout, Ashok Road, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Bishamber Das Road, Gurudwara Rakabganj Road and Mahadev Road among the suggested routes.

Fear of getting stuck in traffic jam

Also, travelers have been urged to avoid or bypass these roads if possible. Additionally, people who are heading towards ISBT, railway station or airport have been advised to allow adequate time and plan their journey carefully. The traffic police has also said that there may be a problem of traffic jam during the construction work and it can be reduced with the cooperation of the public.

Delhi Police helpline number

People can get latest information through Delhi Traffic Police website, Facebook page, Instagram and WhatsApp. Apart from this, for traffic related help, helpline numbers 1095 and 011-25844444 can be contacted.

Appeal to people to be careful

Officials said that this closure and diversion is temporary and Pandit Pant Marg will be reopened normally after the completion of the construction work. During this period, the need for safe and cautious travel has been emphasized. Delhi Traffic Police has appealed to all drivers and passengers for understanding and cooperation, so that the construction work is completed safely and traffic is not affected.

It is clear from this instruction that due to the construction of Metro in Delhi, there have been changes in the traffic arrangements and people will have to be careful while traveling.

India AI Impact Summit is being organized at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. In which former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak gave an address on Thursday (19 February). In his speech, he said such a thing about the traffic problem of Delhi that the people present there started laughing. Sunak said that AI can do many things, but cannot solve the traffic problem of the national capital (New Delhi).

What did Rishi Sunak say?

According to PTI report, former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said, ‘Sorry, we were late by a few minutes, it is completely my fault. As we’ve heard this week, AI can do many things, but it can’t solve Delhi’s traffic problem yet. So, a lot of work still remains to be done. The people present there laughed at Sunak’s comment.

Traffic jam problem in Delhi

This statement of Rishi Sunak came when reports of heavy traffic jams on many routes of New Delhi have come to light during the ongoing India AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam. Due to heavy traffic jams and route diversions during the summit, thousands of passengers are facing difficulties in commuting every day. Vehicles were seen crawling in many major areas. Many people complained that the problem of traffic jam has increased due to VIP security arrangements.

People are posting about the jam on social media

Traffic system is also getting affected due to VVIP movement. Delhi Police had already issued a traffic advisory, however, even after this, traffic jams are being seen on many routes. Long queues of vehicles were seen especially in Central Delhi. People are also posting about the jam on social media. AAP’s Delhi state president Saurabh Bhardwaj had also targeted the situation of the traffic jam. Wrote on X, ‘What are we showing to the international guests coming to this AI Summit? The central government needs some basic information about traffic management around the AI summit which is more important than AI.”

Preparations are in full swing in the capital for the AI Summit going to be held in Delhi from 16 to 20 February. Delhi Police and Traffic Police have implemented a special traffic plan around the venue Bharat Mandapam and in large parts of Lutyens’ Delhi. The reason is clear, there will be a lot of VVIP movement in these 4 days, hence there will be diversions and restrictions on many important roads.

34 schools within 5 kilometer radius will be affected

A total of 34 schools come within a radius of 5 kilometers of Bharat Mandapam. The traffic plan will affect all of them. According to Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Additional Commissioner of Traffic Police, nodal officers will be deployed by the Education Department and Traffic Police to ensure that there is no problem in the movement of children.

Out of these 34 schools, 10 schools are board examination centres. About 2,943 students will come here to take the examination. Since some schools are very close to the VVIP route, there is a possibility of high traffic pressure there.

There may be problem of traffic jam or slow speed around the remaining 24 schools also. The administration says that separate arrangements are being made to reach the students to the examination center on time.

Advisory to schools, online classes also considered

The Directorate of Education has issued a circular to all the affected schools. It has been said that they should maintain coordination with the traffic police and make alternative arrangements if needed.

Some schools are also considering conducting regular classes online as a precaution, so that children and parents do not have to face problems. Although there will be offline arrangements for the examination centres, it is advised to leave early to reach there.

There will be increased activity around big hotels

Many major hotels in the capital have been booked to accommodate the delegates coming from India and abroad for the summit. These include Oberoi New Delhi, Taj Mahal Hotel, Claridge’s, Le Meridien, Hotel Imperial, Leela Palace New Delhi, Taj Palace New Delhi, ITC Maurya, Hyatt Regency and Hotel Ashok. There will be tight security arrangements around these hotels and traffic may be affected more than on normal days.

These routes will be affected

According to the traffic police, traffic may be affected between Zoo to Tilak Marg on Mathura Road. People passing through here can use Ring Road or Lala Lajpat Rai Marg via Sarai Kale Khan-Ashram. Those following the Subramaniam Bharati route have been advised to take the Archbishop Markarius route or the Maharishi Raman route.

Ring Road (ITO-Ashram Section) and Pragati Maidan Tunnel have been suggested as better options for those traveling via Bhairon Marg. Movement may also be limited on Rajesh Pilot Marg. In such a situation, it has been advised to go via Safdarjung Marg or Aurobindo Marg.

There will be pressure on many roads of Lutyens Delhi

Traffic arrangements will also be changed on Akbar Road, Teen Murti Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Sardar Patel Marg, Janpath, Firoz Shah Road, Shanti Path, Satya Marg, Africa Avenue, Kamal Ataturk Marg, APJ Abdul Kalam Road, C-Hexagon, Dr. Zakir Hussain Marg, Mahatma Gandhi Marg (from Bhikaji Cama Place to Moti Bagh Flyover) and Sikandar Road.

Alternative routes include Motilal Nehru Marg, Dara Shikoh Marg, Talkatora Road, San Martin Marg, Tolstoy Marg, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Niti Marg, Nyay Marg, RTR Marg, Lodhi Road, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg and Man Singh Road.

Traffic police appealed to the people

The traffic police has appealed to the people to check the traffic updates before travelling, and if possible, use public transport like metro. Especially students going to appear for exams should leave home before time. There will be some variation in traffic in this part of the capital for 4 days, but the administration claims that with better coordination, full care will be taken to ensure that the common people face minimal problems.

An atmosphere of surprise and excitement was created on the roads of Delhi when suddenly supercars started appearing one after the other amidst the normal traffic. Usually, where people see cars, bikes and buses everyday, this time such a sight was seen on the road which forced everyone to stop and watch. Colorful sports cars, gleaming supercars and long lines of luxury vehicles made the roads of Delhi like an international car show. This entire scene looked no less than a scene from a movie. The video is viral and everyone is surprised after watching it.

Supercar convoy on Delhi roads

Many people often have to face problems due to traffic signal in big cities. Especially in cities like Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida, traffic signal failure causes a situation like jam and accidents. In such a situation, Delhi Traffic Police is taking a big step to prevent accidents due to traffic signal in Delhi. Soon the Delhi Police may add a new feature to the traffic sentinel app. Through which common people will be able to complain about poor traffic signal immediately. Through this feature, information about the malfunction of the signal will reach the direct police, which will be able to do the repair work fast and there will be a decrease in the jam and accidents on the roads.

Complaint through unique ID of traffic signal

Delhi Traffic Police has given unique ID on all traffic signals in the city. This ID number is written directly on the signal pole. Due to which it is easy for any driver to identify a bad signal. In such a situation, if the traffic signal of your area stops working, then you just have to not do the ID written on the pole. After this, a complaint can be lodged by calling the number 1095 of the traffic control room directly, the traffic police contact the concerned agency and make the signal correct as soon as possible.

Traffic sentinel app will also help

The Delhi Traffic Police is considering adding a new feature to its traffic sentinel app. Through this, common people will not only be able to share information about traffic rules, but will also be able to put complaints directly in the system of poor traffic signals. Officials believe that it will speed up the repair process and in a long time there will be better monitoring of signals.

How to complain?

If the signal of your area is bad, then after the new feature comes, you will be able to share photos and locations in a few clicks. So that your complaint will reach the control room of the traffic police directly and the maintenance team will be sent immediately from there. At the same time, different avenues were also adopted for complaints of bad signal. So far, a call on the helpline number for complaints is sometimes posted on social media or a complaint is made to the patrolling team. Due to this, the work of repair gets late and the risk of accident increases.
