The country’s capital Delhi was once again put to shame when a student of Delhi University was attacked with acid in broad daylight. This incident took place on Sunday (26 October) morning near Lakshmibai College in Ashok Vihar area, where the student was going for her extra classes.

Suddenly a bike rider threw acid on him. The student tried to save herself. His face was saved, but both his hands were badly burnt.

The one who threw acid was known to the student

Passersby immediately took him to the hospital. First he was taken to Deepchand Bandhu Hospital and later admitted to RML Hospital due to severe burns. According to doctors, the condition of the student is stable and the injuries are not life threatening.

Police investigation has revealed that the main accused was an acquaintance of the student. The accused Jitendra, who lives in Mukundpur area, used to stalk the student. About a month ago, there was a fight between the two over some issue, after which Jitendra started harassing her.

It is claimed that he along with two of his friends committed this crime on Sunday. According to the police, Ishaan gave the bottle to Armaan and he threw the acid.

Questions on women’s safety in Delhi

After the attack, the three accused fled from the spot. However, the police have identified him on the basis of nearby CCTV footage and several teams are conducting raids in search of him. This incident has once again raised serious questions on the safety of women in Delhi.

Protest by NSUI and SFI

Organizations active in student politics of Delhi University have strongly condemned this incident. National Students Union of India (NSUI) national president Varun Chaudhary said, “Acid was thrown on a Delhi University student in broad daylight, this is not just a crime but a proof of the failure of governance. If the BJP government and Delhi Police had really given priority to women’s safety, such incidents would have stopped. The culprits should be arrested immediately and they should be given strict punishment.”

Varun Chaudhary further said that NSUI stands with the victim and her family and the organization will continue to raise its voice until justice is provided.

SFI raised questions on the working style of police

At the same time, Students Federation of India (SFI), Delhi University unit also issued a statement saying that this incident is not just a crime but a symbol of ‘administrative insensitivity and government failure’. The organization said, “It is shocking that such an attack could happen in broad daylight, in front of a women’s college in the capital. The Delhi government and the police have repeatedly failed in such cases. Unless the culprits are given stringent punishment and security is not increased around college campuses, such incidents will continue.”

SFI also said, “In the past years, acid-related incidents were also reported near Miranda House, but concrete steps were never taken. This negligence has now become a threat to women.”

ABVP put this demand before the administration

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has described this incident as extremely unfortunate and condemnable and has demanded strict action from the administration against the culprits who carried out this attack.

ABVP says that such incidents in and around the university campus are a matter of serious concern from the safety point of view of girl students. ABVP has demanded from the university administration that such incidents should not be repeated, for this security arrangements should be strictly implemented around the campus, the number of CCTV cameras should be increased and police patrolling should be made more active.

Dissatisfaction among university students

Delhi Police has registered an FIR in the matter and said that action will be taken against the criminals under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). According to police officials, several teams have been sent to arrest the accused and technical surveillance has been increased.

After this attack, students protested in colleges and asked ‘How safe are the daughters of Delhi?’ As if the questions started echoing again. Seeing the attacks on women in the capital, people’s anger is clearly visible, because even after repeated such cases, the security situation is not changing.

School and college days are that golden time period for everyone, which is remembered throughout...

School and college days are that golden time period for everyone, which is remembered throughout the life and the mind becomes happy remembering those moments. You can also guess this by looking at the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

Actually, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya is on her first visit to India after assuming the post. During this time, along with his work, he also took out time for the place where he spent the essential years of his life. In such a situation, he also visited his college and relieved all the moments. In such a situation, let us know from which college in Delhi the Sri Lankan PM has studied.

Dr. Harini reached the classroom after many years

Sri Lankan PM Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has studied from Hindu College of Delhi University. This incident happened 31 years ago, when Harini was doing her graduation in sociology from Hindu College. Today, after coming to India after so many years, she took out some time from her busy schedule for Hindu College and went to her classroom. Not only this, she also chatted with college students and even sat on this bench, where she often used to make notes.

History of Hindu College

Hindu College of DU is quite old. This college is also associated with the freedom struggle. In fact, this college, established in 1899, has been considered a stronghold of nationalists in the freedom movement. This college has given great leaders to the country from time to time. The special thing about this college is that it also has a Students Parliament, which was formed in the year 1935.

How to take admission in Hindu College?

Hindu College is one of the top colleges in India. In such a situation, it is very difficult to get admission in it because the competition is very high. For admission in this, first of all students have to appear in CUET exam. After this they have to fill preferences for Delhi University Common Seat Allocation. Admission here is based on your CUET score, your chosen course and availability of seats.

Amidst the possibility of another round of the first mist of the winter season in...

Amidst the possibility of another round of the first mist of the winter season in Delhi, fungal particles in the air inside the houses have found 12 times more than the safety limit of WHO, causing skin allergies, difficulty in breathing. This has been revealed in the report of a research.

Research conducted by Satyavati College of Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia and South Dakota State University in America has also revealed that the level of bacteria was recorded 10 times more than the World Health Organization (WHO) security limit.

What happened in research,

The study published in the Frontiers in Public Health, 2025 states that the air inside the house in many parts of Delhi becomes almost as harmful as the fog in many parts of Delhi. The study also found that most of the fungal particles were smaller than 2.5 microns, which could cause permanent damage to the respiratory system by entering the lungs.

A clear seasonal pattern was seen in it. The level of fungus increased continuously from winter and between September to November, i.e. in Delhi, it reached the highest level of about 6,050 cfu meters in the first season just before the mist.

What physical problems people complained,

According to the study, the level of bacteria increased from winter to summer, which was at its peak in August and then decreased in winter. About 33 percent of residents repeatedly headed, 23 percent complained of eye irritation, 22 percent experienced cough and shortness of breathing and suffered 18 percent sneezing and allergic rhinitis (also known as hell-divers). Researchers said that about 15 percent complained of skin irritation and itching.

He said, ‘Children and youth have emerged as the most unsafe groups. The study found that about 28 percent of children under the age of 12 and 25 percent of the age of 18 to 30 years complained of symptoms related to shortness of breath, cough or allergy.

What was the conclusion of research,

He said that the rate of irritation in the eyes and skin was also found in women, which is about 60 percent of all the complaints related to the skin and eyes. This is probably because they stay indoors for a long time. Research concluded that pollution inside the house, especially the pollution generated from fungal bioerosol, shows an invisible but large health risk in the ongoing air quality crisis in Delhi.

It also read: ‘CEC did not answer Rahul Gandhi’s questions’, Congress accused the Election Commission

Runak Khatri, the former students union president of Delhi University (DU), has been threatened with death. He gave this information himself. According to the information received so far, this threat has been given by the notorious Rohit Godara. The person associated with the gang has sent a message to Raunak’s WhatsApp and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore.

Raunak Khatri was constantly threatened messages and calls on WhatsApp. The threatening person said in clear terms, “Give five crore rupees, otherwise get ready to die.” The message has come from a foreign number.

The crook furious over not picking up the phone

The threatener has also called Raunak Khatri several times on WhatsApp. However, after not getting the answer from Raunak, the person further wrote, “If you are not picking up the phone, be ready to eat the bullet.” In this regard, Raunak has lodged a police complaint.

Threat of serious consequences for not giving 5 crores

It has been said in the complaint that he has been called several times from the unknown number and a message of five crore rupees has been sent by sending a message on WhatsApp. The sender of the threatening said that serious consequences will have to be suffered if the demand is not met.

Police engaged in investigating the connection of Godara gang

The police has started investigating this entire case. At the moment, the police is trying to find out whether this threat has actually been given by Rohit Godara gang or someone else is trying to spread the fear. The cyber wing and crime branch of Delhi Police have been handed over the investigation into the case.

Raunak Khatri made three demands

After receiving the threat, former DUSU president Raunak Khatri has demanded security from the police. Raunak Khatri has demanded from the police to trace the number as soon as possible and find out the accused. Apart from this, he has made three necessary demands.

Raunak Khatri said, “I have three demands-
1. First of all register an FIR.
2. After this I got police security, because my family is most important for me. Police should be stationed near the house.
3. I demand police protection for myself until this case is solved. “

In the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) election 2025, Aryan Mann won the post of president. This victory of Aryan has not only strengthened his organization ABVP but has also shown how hard work, discipline in sports and dedication towards studies can create a strong leadership. Aryan’s journey started from school like any ordinary student, but today he has become the voice of thousands of students of Delhi University.

Where did you start studies?

Aryan Mann is a resident of Lova Kalan village in Jhajjar district of Haryana. His early studies were from St. Thomas School in Bahadurgarh. Here he not only achieved good marks in studies, but also proved himself in sports and social activities. While studying at St. Thomas School, his leadership qualities were coming to the fore.

Aryan was always ahead in school cultural programs, sports competitions and other activities. His dialogue ability, teamwork and the habit of motivating others made him popular among classmates. This experience was very useful in his college life and student politics.

This renowned school gave a special stage

After completing his 10th studies, Aryan enrolled in GD Goenka School in Vasant Kunj, Delhi. From here he completed his 12th studies. Along with studying in well-known school like GD Goenka, he got a chance to move forward in sports and other activities.

Aryan further enhanced his leadership and team spirit by joining the school’s football team. His performance on the football ground was such that he soon got admission in Delhi University under sports quota. This was a big turn of his life because from here he moved towards student politics.

New identity from football

Aryan Mann was not only active in studies and politics, but he also made his mark on the playground. He has been a national level player of football and also became part of the Delhi team. The experience of playing at the national level taught him discipline, patience and determination. Later, this quality started appearing in his personality and the students started seeing a strong leader in them.

Aryan was always active from class to ground. His interest in sports and constant hard work made him popular among colleagues. The same popularity changed into votes in the election and today he has become the president of Delhi University Students Union.

The Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) will vote for the election 2025 on Thursday (September 18) for the election. The fate of about 20 candidates of different panels is going to be captured in EVMs today.

Voting will be done in two shifts for DUSU election. First voting will be held from 8:30 am to 1 pm. In the second shift, votes will be cast from 3 pm to 7:30 pm. At the same time, the result of this election will be declared on Friday (September 19).

Impact of strictness of court

At the same time, the strictness of Delhi High Court on DUSU elections has been clearly seen in the North Campus of Delhi University. The case is during the DUSU election 2024 last year, when the Delhi High Court reprimanded the student organizations for the dirt from posters, pamphlets and walls on the campus.

The court had clearly stated that action should be taken against those who dirty the campus and pollution from publicity materials should be stopped. The result of the same rebuke is that every year in the electoral atmosphere, the roads, walls and sails and promotional materials of the campus were read every year, this time the entire North Campus campus has been seen very clean.

Main contest between ABVP-NSUI

A total of 20 candidates are trying their luck for the four important posts of Dusu- President, Vice President, Secretary and Joint Secretary. Apart from Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), National Students Union of India (NSUI), AISA, SFI and some other student organizations are also in the fray in this election.

The ABP News team interacted with the students of North Campus of Delhi University, on the basis of which it can be said that like every time, this time too, it is also seen between ABVP and NSUI. Both these prominent student organizations have fielded four of their candidates.

ABVP candidates

Chairman: Aryan Mann

Vice President: Govind Tanwar

Secretary: Kunal Chaudhary

Joint Secretary: Deepika Jha

NSUI candidates

Chairman: Josalin Nandita Chaudhary

Vice President: Rahul Jhansal

Secretary: Kabir

Joint Secretary: Lavkush Bhadana

Strong security arrangements

In a special conversation with ABP News, Dr. Rajesh Singh, the Chief Returning Officer of DUSU Election Committee, gave detailed information on the preparations for the voting and the procedure. He said, “We have got full support from Delhi Police to get DUSU Election 2025 in a peaceful and fair manner. Strong security arrangements have been made. This time a total of 52 calling centers have been set up so that students do not have any problem in casting their votes.”

EVM will vote

Dr. Singh also clarified that Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) will be used for DUSU election, while ballot paper for college counselors will be cast. This time more than 2.75 lakh students will exercise their franchise in DUSU election 2025. The results of the election will be declared by the evening of 19 September.

Dusu Elections 2025: There is a lot of excitement in Delhi University (DU) regarding the student union elections. Meanwhile, NSUI and ABVP workers were assaulted on Tuesday (September 16) at Kirodimal College.

Congress MP Deepender Hooda and NSUI National President Varun Chaudhary, Delhi University South Campus had come to campaign for DUSU elections. During this, while addressing the crowd, Deepender Hooda expressed full confidence in the victory of the NSUI panel. According to the information, after Hooda’s statement, ABVP students objected and on seeing this, the matter reached the fight.

What did Hooda say?

Hooda said, “I am confident that the NSUI panel will win the DUSU election.” He further said, “While RSS-BJP is engaged in strengthening the roots of hatred in our country, NSUI is committed to spreading the message of love and unity. We will again open a ‘love shop’ in Delhi University Campus.”

Ajay Rai’s program

NSUI’s side was a program of Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai’s KMC College (Kirodimal College), Delhi University tour, where students from Purvanchal were waiting to welcome him. Just before his arrival, the ABVP alleged that the NSUI’s Purvanchal student supporters tried unsuccessfully to disrupt the program.

Ajay Rai sent a video message to the students and assured that no fear and threat can weaken their spirits. He is currently coming towards college and will soon reach the campus. ABVP strongly condemns this hooliganism. Remember, students will answer this violence and threat with the strength of their vote.

Ajay Rai said, “ABVP is scared of the huge support being received by NSUI. The violence in KMC is proof of this. I am coming to stand with you.”
