Waterlogging in delhi news: Before the monsoon, the Delhi government has made complete preparations to free the capital from waterlogging. This time under the supervision of the Public Works Department (PWD) of the Delhi government (PWD) and Water Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma, the responsibility has been fixed at every waterlogging point and a clear order has been given that if the water is filled during the rains, the concerned engineer will be suspended.

According to PWD, this time 445 waterlogging points have been identified by the Delhi Traffic Police. Of these, the responsibility of 335 points comes under PWD. On all these points, AE and JE level engineers have been appointed local incharge, which will ensure drainage, availability of equipment and emergency preparations.

Of these, 7 major points will be monitored by Engineer-in-Chiff. On every point, the project engineer has been made “Review Officer”, while the pump operators will be posted in three shifts. Temporary housing is also being arranged for these during the monsoon.

PWD and Water Minister Pravesh Verma of Delhi Government has warned that if negligence is found at any point, strict action will be taken against the responsible engineer. “Freeing Delhi from waterlogging is not just a goal,” as well as cleaning the drainage system in Delhi is also going on fast.

Discilting work has been started by dividing Delhi into 35 zones. So far, 50 km drains have been cleaned and the target of cleaning up to 1400 kilometers till 31 May. The PWD report will be sent daily to Minister Pravesh Verma. The government claims that Delhi will be fully prepared before the first monsoon rains.
