Temperature will increase today and tomorrow

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature will increase on 1 and 2 April. The maximum temperature can reach around 37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will be around 20-21 degrees. That means people will start feeling slight heat. But on 3rd and 4th April the weather will change once again.

There is a possibility of thunderstorm and rain with strong winds in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad. Due to this the temperature will drop and the maximum temperature can reach around 30 degrees.

It may rain in many parts of the country till April 10

Meteorologists say that the effect of Western Disturbance will still persist, especially in the hilly areas. Due to this, there may be intermittent rain in many parts of the country till April 10. At the same time, if we talk about pollution, the air quality in Delhi remains in the moderate category. AQI 171 has been recorded. March 2026 was the most polluted in the last four years, with an average AQI of 181.

The morning of March 13 in Delhi has broken all the records of this year as this morning has been recorded as the hottest morning of the year 2026. The minimum temperature recorded was 20.4 degrees Celsius. This temperature is 5.3 degrees above normal. People in Delhi-NCR had to face hotter than normal weather on Friday morning. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in the capital was recorded about 5 degrees above normal. The department has also indicated that there may be a change in the weather around March 15 and there is a possibility of light rain. This is expected to bring down the temperature and provide some relief from the humid heat.

Temperature conditions in different areas

According to the centre-wise data of the Meteorological Department, the temperature was recorded above normal in different parts of the capital. The minimum temperature in Palam was 18.4 degrees Celsius, which is 3.3 degrees above normal. Lodhi Road recorded 19.2 degrees Celsius and Ridge area recorded 19 degrees Celsius, which are 5.2 and 3.1 degrees above normal respectively. Whereas in Ayanagar the minimum temperature was recorded at 19.8 degrees Celsius, which is 5.1 degrees more than normal.

Air quality also remained bad

At 9 am, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 200, which falls in the ‘poor’ category. According to the ‘Sameer’ app of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), air quality was in the ‘poor’ category at 18 monitoring centres, while it was recorded as ‘moderate’ at 26 centres. According to CPCB standards, AQI between 0 to 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’ and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.

March has just started and the heat of May-June is beginning to be felt in the capital. Last day, i.e. March 6, was recorded as the hottest day of this season so far. The maximum temperature in the capital reached 34.4 degrees Celsius, which is about 7 degrees more than normal. The minimum temperature recorded at Safdarjung weather station was 17 degrees Celsius, which is 3.6 degrees more than normal. The minimum temperature in Lodhi Road area was 16.3 degrees Celsius, which is 4.3 degrees above normal.

Usually, in the beginning of March, there is a slight coolness in the morning and night, but this time due to the high temperature, the morning and evening are also feeling hot. At present, the air of the capital remains in the moderate category and the air quality index has been recorded at 171.

Indications that the weather will remain like this for the next 10 days

According to weather experts, the weather trend in Delhi and surrounding areas may remain almost the same in the coming days. Due to clear sky and strong sunlight, the temperature is expected to increase gradually.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of any major weather activity in Delhi and surrounding states like Punjab for the next 10 days. During this period, along with day temperature, an increase in morning and evening temperatures can also be seen. Besides, there are indications of increase in wind speed in the coming days, due to which the weather may remain dry.

While heavy rains continue to wreak havoc in most parts of North India, the capital Delhi is still troubled by humidity and heat. The previous day (August 6) recorded a maximum temperature of 34.8 degrees Celsius, which was 1.4 degrees below normal, but heat and humidity disturbed people.
