After a long time, there was a movement going on in the country regarding education. Pradhan said, ‘I have decided to step down to prevent anti-national forces from spreading confusion and taking advantage of the situation.’

Pradhan, who has emerged as a trusted Union Minister of the BJP government in the last few years, is also recognized as a skilled organizer, a minister and a political manager. He is one of the few people from Odisha who left his mark on the national stage of politics. But look at the game of destiny, the issue of education on which he had made a political issue 29 years ago, took him to office.

His political career started with a paper leak movement. The year was 1997. There was a Congress government in the state. Its Chief Minister was Vallabh Patnaik. The issue of paper leak was heated in the entire state. At that time Pradhan was the National Secretary of ABVP and was studying Anthropology from Utkal University. Under the leadership of 28 year old Dharmendra Pradhan, 1500 students surrounded the State Secretariat of Bhubaneswar. During this, the police brutally lathicharged the protesters. Pradhan was seriously injured in this. The bones of his body were broken. Even today it is said that Pradhan is alive today only because of his luck.

Pradhan was also the national secretary of ABVP twice.

At the age of 18, he entered Ranjiti as a student. Pradhan made his mark as an active organizer in the RSS’s student organization ABVP. He was also the national secretary of ABVP twice between 1994 and 1997.

After this historic movement of Odisha in 1997, he joined BJP. He strengthened the roots of BJP. Its result will be visible in the year 2024. BJP ended Naveen Patnaik’s 24-year-old Biju Janata Dal rule in Odisha. BJP formed the government for the first time this year. After handling important ministries like Petroleum and Skill Development at the Centre, he was made the Education Minister of the country in 2021.
