How To Improve Heart Recovery After Heart Attack: Most people believe that brushing and flossing is necessary only to keep teeth clean and avoid bad breath. But a new study shows that oral health can also have a profound impact on the heart, especially after a heart attack. Let us tell you what came out of the study.
Recovery after heart attack difficult

A study by Tokyo Medical and Dental University of Japan, published in the International Journal of Oral Science, has revealed a surprising relationship. It has been told that a common bacteria found in the mouth can affect the healing process of the heart. That means, if oral health is bad, recovery after a heart attack can be difficult.

Heart tries to recover

After a heart attack, the body tries to heal itself. There is an important process in this, which is called autophagy. In this, the cells clean the damaged parts accumulated inside them and reuse them, which helps in healing the heart. The researchers especially paid attention to a bacteria named Porphyromonas gingivalis. This bacteria is found in the mouth and causes gum disease. If timely treatment is not done, the gums become swollen, start bleeding and teeth may also fall out.

What is gingipain?

Scientists already knew that this bacteria can reach other parts of the body as well, but it was not clear how it affects the heart. To understand this, he studied a substance called gingipain, which this bacteria produces. Gingipain is a type of protein, which helps in preventing damage to body tissues and escaping from the body’s immune system. The researcher tried to know what effect it has on the heart cells.

What was the result?

For this, he prepared a form of bacteria in which gingipain was not produced. Then it was compared with normal bacteria. The results were clear that the cells which were affected by the bacteria without gingipain remained healthier. Whereas the cells that came in contact with normal bacteria suffered more damage. The same thing came to light in the experiment conducted on rats. In rats that had normal bacteria, there was more damage to the heart after a heart attack. Research found that gingipain inhibits the process of autophagy. Due to this, harmful substances start accumulating inside the cells, which slows down the repair of the heart. This is the reason why the heart takes more time to heal and the damage increases.

We all use a toothbrush to clean teeth daily. But do you know that if you do not change your toothbrush on time, it can be quite dangerous for your oral health? According to doctors and dental experts, it is very important to change the toothbrush every 3-4 months. Let us tell you why it is so and if you do not change then what is its effect on our health.

Danger of bacteria on toothbrush

The risk of the most risk is toothbrush, when used for a long time, it becomes home to bacteria and viruses. Every time you clean the teeth, pieces of food and mucus sticks on bristles. Over time, these bacteria start growing. If you use such a toothbrush, this gum can cause infection, mouth smell and tooth decay. Which later becomes dangerous for your health.

Loss of Brasles

Brales of old toothbrushes start falling or turn. Due to this, cleaning of teeth is not done properly. Also, strict and crooked bristles can hurt the gums. This can become a more serious problem in innocent children and the elderly. Apart from this, cleaning of teeth from them is not as much as before.

How to recognize that the time has come to change the toothbrush?

If your toothbrush has been used for more than 3-4 months, the Brasles are bent or there is bad odor in the toothbrush, then change it immediately. Especially in the winter and flu season, the old toothbrush further increases the risk of diseases.

Tips for good oral health

Change toothbrush every 3-4 months.

After use toothbrush, wash and dry it thoroughly.

Keep the toothbrush covered so that dust and germs are not applied.

Use a new toothbrush in case of flu or cold.

It is very important to change the child’s toothbrush at regular time.

Oral health is not limited to cleaning teeth. Timely changes of toothbrush, right brushing technology and balanced diet also play an important role in this. Old toothbrush can damage your teeth and gums, so do not ignore it. To keep your and family smile healthy, it is necessary to change regular toothbrushes.
