He got a lot of popularity from the film Gully Boy released in 2019 and after this he got a line of great projects. But when everything came to a halt during the lockdown, Vijay Verma became a victim of depression. Then Aamir Khan&#8217;s daughter Ayra Khan and her actor Gulshan Devaiah helped him to overcome it.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">While talking to Rhea Chakraborty recently, Vijay Verma recalled his period of depression. The actor said- &#8216;I was all alone in an apartment in Mumbai. Luckily I had a small roof. I could see the sky, live with the natural elements. Otherwise I would go crazy. To be honest, I went crazy.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>&#8216;Ayra and Gulshan are a small support system&#8230;&#8217;<br /></strong>Vijay Verma further said- &#8216;And then one day I realized why I was not able to move from my sofa for four days? What is happening? Then Ayra and Gulshan were like a small support system for me. Ayra was assisting in Dahar and we all became good friends during the shooting. We used to make video calls to each other on Zoom and have dinner. This was our only scope. But my condition was worsening. Ayra was the first to say that Vijay, I think you should start moving a little.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Vijay Verma was unable to move<br /></strong>The actor said- &#8216;Finally I talked to a therapist because I was not able to move. I met him on Zoom and was diagnosed with stress and depression. He was quite serious at that time. He said that if it comes under control then it is fine, otherwise we will think of taking medicine. I said I will see. After this, Vijay tells that a lot got better due to therapy and yoga.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">He said- &#8216;Both of them brought everything to the surface. I would lie down on my yoga mat, and by the third or fourth Surya Namaskar, I would pass out, crying for hours for no reason. It was a deep depression, which also included unresolved emotions and unresolved guilt.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Ayra Khan helped in recovering from depression<br /></strong>Vijay Verma further explains- &#8216;It was Ayra who said that Vijay, you have to start walking. And they included me in Zoom classes and trained me. He said that therapy is not bad. You should definitely try therapy.</p>

<p><strong>1. Breathing Technique</strong></p>
<p>Breathing technique is considered to be the simplest and easiest. Whenever you feel tension or restlessness, try 4-7-8 breathing technique. For this, take a deep breath through the nose for 4 seconds, then hold the breath for 7 seconds and after that slowly exhale through the mouth for 8 seconds. Repeating this 3 to 5 times calms the mind and makes the body feel relaxed.</p>
<p><strong>2. Progressive Muscle Relaxation</strong></p>
<p>When you feel stress in the body, you can adopt progressive muscle relaxation technique. For this, sit in a quiet place and tighten and release the muscles of each part of the body one by one. Start it from the feet and then go to the thighs, stomach, shoulders and neck. This exercise makes the body stress free and brings the mind into relaxed mode.</p>
<p><strong>3. Mindfulness Meditation</strong></p>
<p>Mindfulness meditation can reduce the stress of your entire day in just 5 to 10 minutes. For this, sit in a quiet place, close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing. After this, whatever thoughts come to your mind, do not judge them, just let them come and go. This method connects you to the present and removes negative thoughts.</p>
<p><strong>4. Embrace yourself</strong></p>
<p>Hugging yourself during times of stress is considered a very effective way to reduce stress. For this, slowly hold yourself tightly with both hands and remain like this for a few seconds. In this way the mind feels security and peace. This technique releases oxytocin hormone in the body which improves the mood.</p>
<p><strong>5. Do doodling or creative activities</strong></p>
<p>When your mind feels very heavy, make some drawings on paper, color, write your thoughts or start gardening. This creative work shifts your focus from stress to something positive. This makes the mind feel light immediately.</p>
<p><strong>6. Take a mindful walk and try music therapy</strong></p>
<p>Just a 10-minute walk can change your mood.  While walking, pay attention to the sound of your footsteps, the coolness of the air and the rhythm of your breathing. This mindful walk brings you into the present and can reduce mental stress. Apart from this, music has a direct impact on our mood. This research suggests that the risk of asthma and mental health problems in children born between 2008 and 2017 is increasing rapidly, which is a danger bell for the future.</p>
