A study found that eating sweets after dinner worsens blood sugar levels, and its effect can last till the next morning. The doctor also warned that eating sweets on an empty stomach can cause blood sugar to rise very quickly, and this can be especially harmful for people suffering from problems like diabetes, prediabetes, insulin resistance, obesity or metabolic syndrome. Overall, there is no need to give up sweets completely, just pay attention to the time of eating them. </p>
