He said, “Ranveer had come to ‘Dhurandhar’ with a low fixed fee and a backend deal, due to which he got the benefit of that agreement. Aditya also chose low fixed fees and backend. They got good profits by working with us. This is how you distribute both risk and reward.

He said, ‘We bet completely for Dhurandhar. The cost of making the film was almost double what we had initially thought. But later it changed into two parts. In the end we all got good benefits from it.

He said, ‘Dhurandhar was written as a single story. It was conceived and budgeted as a film. But when we completed the first shooting schedule, we realized that the budget had increased much more than originally estimated. He said, ‘The footage that came from the first schedule was amazing. Looking at the story, we felt that it had so much potential that it could be made into a two-part film.

He said, ‘Initially it was completely based on Pakistan. We were talking about the ‘deep state’, which is a concept that has been around for years. He also said that explaining a geopolitical thought to a general audience was a big challenge in itself, and this is what drew him towards this project.
