Diabetes Treatment: World Diabetes Day is celebrated every year on 14 November, the purpose of which is to make people aware about it. Increase in sugar i.e. blood sugar does not happen just by eating sweets. There are many reasons which have nothing to do with sweets or sweets. People keep asking the question, “Why does my sugar increase even though I don’t eat sweets?” According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are different reasons for its increase, in which our lifestyle is most responsible. Let us tell you why blood sugar increases even if you do not eat sweets.

According to signs, there are 8 major reasons for increasing blood sugar, in which sugar keeps increasing even without eating sweets. In these-

morning sugar rise

Between 4 and 8 in the morning, the body produces certain hormones, such as cortisol and growth hormone. This tells your liver to make more glucose so you can wake up. If you have diabetes, your body is not able to produce enough insulin, so sugar increases in the morning.

Effect of reduced sugar at night

If sugar levels drop too low at night, the body produces more glucose in the morning to compensate. Because of this, sugar increases as soon as you wake up in the morning. This mostly happens in people taking insulin.

cold, cough or flu

When you have a viral or cold, the body releases stress hormones, which increase blood sugar.

Tension

Too much tension, worry, less sleep, too much heat, cold or sunburn, all these put the body under stress. Due to stress, cortisol increases and this also increases blood sugar.

lack of water in the body

Blood becomes thick when there is less water. Glucose is not high, but due to less water the blood sugar level appears increased. Additionally, excess sugar increases urination, which leads to further dehydration.

Periods and menopause

During these days, estrogen is low, due to which the body does not respond properly to insulin. This may increase blood sugar.

steroid medicines

Steroid medicines given in case of inflammation or any disease, such as prednisone, increase glucose in the liver and reduce the ability of insulin – this increases sugar.

not taking medicine at the right time

If diabetes medicine or insulin is not taken on time, or is taken in less quantity, then sugar increases automatically.

Blood sugar testing is an essential part of diabetes care. Each test tells you how your body is reacting to food, medicines, physical activity and stress. If you do these tests regularly and at the right time, it helps you understand the patterns of fluctuations in your sugar level and by understanding these patterns, you can prevent problems and keep your treatment in the right direction.

It is very important for everyone to know how often blood sugar should be tested, although it depends on your type of diabetes, use of medicines, sugar control and lifestyle. In such a situation, let us know how often to do blood sugar test and what is the right time for it.

Why is blood sugar test important?

1. Fluctuations are revealed – Blood sugar level always changes in diabetes. Morning sugar may appear normal, but may suddenly increase after eating. Similarly, levels may appear normal before sleeping at night, but may be very low in the morning. With regular checkups, you can detect these changes in time.

2. Correct quantity of medicines and insulin – InPatients taking Sulin check their blood sugar to adjust their dosage, and those taking medications to see if the medication is working.

3. For security – Regular checkups give patients a sense of control over their health and they can take informed decisions instead of guessing.

Blood sugar test guidelines

According to RSSDI, the timing of blood sugar test depends on your type of diabetes, medication and level of control.

1. Type 1 Diabetes – In this type the sugar level can change very quickly. In this, it is advised to get tested 5 to 8 times a day. Which includes before eating, 2 hours after eating, before sleeping and sometimes at 3 o’clock in the night.

2. Type 2 Diabetes – In this, the time of investigation depends on the method of your treatment. Those who are only on medicines should get tested at least 4 times a day. Especially if you are taking sulfonylureas or meglitinides. In addition, in a stable or controlled condition, get tested at least 4 times a week, once on an empty stomach and the remaining 3 times after eating. Those who are on insulin should get themselves tested at least 4 times a day. Which includes before eating, after and before sleeping. Apart from this, get tested 4 times a week in stable condition, which includes FBG and three post-meal tests.

3. Diabetes during pregnancy – Sugar balance in pregnant women is important for both mother and child. If you are on insulin or OADs then get tested 4 times a day. If you are only on diet and exercise, then get the profile test done for at least 1 full day in a week.

It not only helps in keeping the heart healthy, but also keeps digestive system right. Consumption of chiku also provides relief in problems like gas, stomach irritation, pain, constipation and diarrhea.

Especially beneficial in summer

Vaidya experts believe that Chiku helps in drying the boils and boils in summer and keeps the body temperature balanced. This sweet fruit has inflammation -reducing properties, which relieves the swelling of the body. The rich calcium present in the chiku makes bones strong and helps to remove the weakness of the body. Also, it is also beneficial in increasing immunity and controlling blood pressure.

Caution is also important

Although Chiku is beneficial for health, its intake is not suitable for all people. Especially diabetes patients should be careful in eating it.
