Now you can cure your diabetes by undergoing a surgery of just two hours. This is the claim of Dr. Manjunath, Additional Professor, Department of Surgery, AIIMS. He told that in the last one year, 35 patients got this surgery done and all the patients got relief from diabetes. An MP is also among the patients who recovered after undergoing surgery.

The results of this experiment conducted on patients have now become a topic of discussion, because the recovery is fast and the patients are able to return home within 24 hours. This technology has emerged as a hope at a time when diabetes is increasing rapidly in the country. According to doctors, this surgery was for the treatment of obesity but now diabetes can also be cured with this surgery. AIIMS has clarified that this special surgery is not for every diabetes patient.

• HbA1C is consistently greater than 7.5
• Sugar is not controlled even after three medicines

This surgery should not be done to those patients

• Those who have been suffering from diabetes for more than 15 years
• Those who have to take up to 100 units of insulin

How is the surgery done?

According to doctors, this surgery is not done on the pancreas but on the stomach and small intestine. In metabolic surgery, first of all the size of the stomach is reduced and it is given a tube-like shape. Because of this, the parts of the body where different types of hormones are being produced are prevented from entering the food pipe. After this, the small intestine is connected to this modified stomach in such a way that after the food enters the stomach, it crosses the duodenum and reaches the next intestine directly.
