Petrol-Diesel Limit: To prevent loss in revenue of government oil companies, the government has completely banned buying fuel in bulk at petrol pumps. That is, under the new rules, wholesale buyers will no longer be able to buy oil from retail petrol pumps.

Till now, malls, hospitals, big factories, travel agencies and private bus operators, who earlier used to buy diesel in huge quantities from retail pumps, will no longer be able to do so. They will be allowed to buy diesel only from bulk sale points.

What is the limit fixed?

Besides, a maximum limit of 200 liters per vehicle per day has also been fixed. Due to this, the general public and even small commercial vehicles will not be able to buy more than 200 liters of diesel at one time or in a day at petrol pumps.

This decision will prevent huge crowd at common petrol pumps and sudden oil shortage, due to which common drivers will continue to get fuel easily. Meanwhile, on Friday, the international price of crude oil fell below $ 86 per barrel due to the news of the agreement between America and Iran.

Why was the ban imposed?

This time especially the sale of diesel has been banned. The notification states, “Retail outlet dealers will provide HSD (High Speed ​​Diesel or Diesel) only in the vehicle tank or PESO approved container. Not more than 200 liters of diesel will be supplied to a customer or vehicle in a day and this HSD cannot be resold.” This order has come into effect immediately and has been issued for a maximum of three months.

Officials and executives of government oil marketing companies (OMCs) said on condition of anonymity that this step has been taken to ensure availability of petrol and diesel to genuine customers and to prevent misuse (diversion) of auto fuel as there is a huge difference between the pump price and the wholesale price. The price of diesel at the pumps in Delhi is Rs 95.20 per liter, while its wholesale price is Rs 134.50 per liter.
