Identification from water test: Put turmeric powder in a glass of water and leave it for a while. If the turmeric sits down and the water remains clean from the top, then it is real. But if the color of the water becomes too deep, then it is adulterated.

Rubbing on the hand: Rub turmeric on your palm or white cloth. The color of real turmeric is easily cleaned, while fake turmeric stains stick for long.

Soap test: dissolve a little turmeric in water and add soap foam to it. If the color of turmeric becomes even deeper, then it can be adulterated. The color of real turmeric does not change much with foam.

Iodine Test: Put a few drops of iodine in one teaspoon turmeric powder. If its color turns blue or black, then understand that starch has been adulterated in it.

Identification with fragrance and taste: Real turmeric has a natural fragrance like light soil and its taste is slightly bitter. Whereas fake turmeric can have a sharp smell.

Lemon Test: Put a few drops of lemon in turmeric powder. If foam or bubbles start forming, then adulteration is confirmed. Lemon is not affected by real turmeric.
