Vice President JD Vance and his wife Melania Trump were also present in this program along with Donald Trump. A statement was issued by the US Secret Service saying that President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Melania Trump and the entire cabinet were evacuated and everyone is completely safe.

Panic spread due to firing

The firing incident took place in the room just above the ballroom. On hearing the sound, Secret Service personnel immediately surrounded President Trump and pulled him out safely from the stage. In the video of the firing that has surfaced, it can be seen that the firing took place in front of Trump. Trump was sitting on the stage and suddenly there was firing and immediately the security personnel surrounded him. During this time many people hid under the table.

The Associated Press reported that officers ran through a crowd of guests toward the dinner table and heard someone yelling “Get out of the way, sir.” AFP quoted a cabinet member as saying that shots were fired at the White House during the dinner, but there were no reports of injuries.

Regarding the shooting incident, Donald Trump posted on his social media handle and wrote, “It was a very noisy evening in DC. The Secret Service and security agencies did their job brilliantly. They showed great bravery and agility. The shooter has been caught. I have recommended that we should continue the program but we will take further decisions completely according to the security agencies. This evening was not as expected and we will have to organize it again.

According to news agency AFP, a suspicious person has been detained after the incident and currently the investigation of the case is going on. Security agencies are investigating the entire matter. After this incident, questions have started being raised regarding the safety of the people present in the program.
