A peaceful protest organized outside the Bangladesh High Commission in London ended in controversy when a group of Khalistani supporters disrupted it. This demonstration was organized under the leadership of the Hindu community, the purpose of which was to protest against the death of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh. However, Khalistani groups started showing anti-India slogans and Khalistani flags.

Hindu protesters present outside the Bangladesh High Commission said that the event was completely peaceful and humanitarian, which had nothing to do with the internal politics of any country. He said that in recent months, incidents of violence against religious minorities, especially Hindus, have increased worryingly in Bangladesh.

The protesters on the occasion specifically mentioned the murder of Dipu Chandra Das, a 29-year-old garment factory worker in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. It is alleged that following alleged blasphemy charges, he was beaten to death by the mob, then his body was hanged from a tree and burnt. The incident is reported to have taken place on December 18 and caused deep outrage within and outside Bangladesh. The protesters also raised the issue of Amrit Mandal’s death in Rajbari on Christmas eve. Although Bangladeshi officials said Amrit Mandal was involved in a criminal activity and died during a clash with locals, protesters say such cases raise serious questions about the safety of minorities.

Manu Khajuria, associated with the UK Insight group, reacted strongly to the incident and said, “It was extremely shocking that fundamentalist elements tried to silence those who talked about harmony and minority rights.” He clarified that this demonstration was not for any political agenda, but in support of human rights and peace.

Colleagues who could not get jobs took revenge by spreading false allegations of blasphemy against him. The eyewitness said, “This rumor was spread deliberately to instigate the crowd. Later the administration also clarified that no evidence of blasphemy was found against Dipu Chandra Das, but by then the situation had gone out of hand.”

According to the eyewitness, at that time not only the factory employees but also some people from outside were present there. The mob attacked Dipu Chandra Das as soon as he came out. He was beaten with sticks and punches, and was repeatedly attacked on his face and body. He became drenched in blood, but the violence of the mob did not stop here.

According to eyewitnesses, Dipu Chandra Das was dragged for about a kilometer, then tied to a tree and burnt alive. All this happened openly, but no one could come forward due to fear.

This incident took place in the house of expatriates Jayanti Sangha and Babu Shukusheel in Chattogram.

Banner in Bengali openly threatens Hindus

The banner reads in Bengali that the Hindu residents of this area are informed that you are being kept under strict surveillance. You are accused of being involved in activities against Islam and the Muslim community. You are warned to immediately stop your movements, gatherings and activities. It threatens that if members of the Hindu community do not follow the instructions, their homes, properties and businesses will not be spared and no one will be able to protect them. Tension has once again increased in Bangladesh after the death of fundamentalist leader Sharif Usman Hadi in a hospital in Singapore.
