Mahayuti has scored a hat-trick of victories by registering a spectacular victory in the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections in Maharashtra. Earlier, Mahayuti had performed strongly in the Municipal Council, Nagar Panchayat and then Municipal Corporation elections also. Now, with the success achieved in Zilla Parishad-Panchayat Samiti, Mahayuti has made it clear that the public trust in the local self-government institutions is strongly linked with it.

Public trust in Shiv Sena

Responding to the election results, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the public has given full support to Shiv Sena in these elections. He said that this victory is not just a victory of statistics but of public trust. We will live up to the trust that the public has placed on Shiv Sena and development at the grassroots level will be further accelerated.

Strong base in rural areas also

Deputy Chief Minister Shinde said that the huge support given to Shiv Sena by the people of Maharashtra shows that even in rural areas, the party’s base is now stronger than ever.

Referring to the victory in districts like Raigarh and Ratnagiri, he said that the people of Konkan have given a clear message that they stand with the true Shiv Sena.

Shinde said that the dream of venerable Balasaheb Thackeray of taking Shiv Sena to every home seems to be coming true today. On the occasion of this victory, he is remembering Balasaheb a lot. He especially expressed his gratitude to the “beloved sisters” of the villages, who gave full love and support to their “beloved brother”.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that in the last 3 years, the Mahayuti government has taken many important decisions for both urban and rural areas. The impact of schemes like development of roads, drinking water supply, speeding up irrigation projects, improvement in education and making women self-reliant is now clearly visible. Not only funds were given to empower Gram Panchayats, but emphasis was also laid on making the administration more efficient.

The hard work of the workers paid off

Shinde said that behind this success is the hard work of the party workers, the work done in every village and the clear role taken on public issues. He assured that the trust given by the public will never be broken. Through District Councils, work will be done with more responsibility in the interest of rural development, farmers, women, youth and common citizens.

‘The opposition has no will left to fight’

CM Devendra Fadnavis said, ‘Rural Maharashtra has shown confidence in BJP and Mahayuti. I congratulate the public and BJP workers very much for this victory. In the municipal, municipal and district council elections, the people of rural areas have expressed strong faith in our work. There is no will left to fight in the opposition. The opposition is visible only in the media, not among the public.

He said, ‘Zilla Panchayat elections were held in Maharashtra today. In the elections of 12 district panchayats, Mahayuti came to power in 12 places and once again BJP emerged as the largest party. BJP has got the maximum seats. Even in the Panchayat Samiti, BJP has again emerged as the largest party.

Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections in Punjab started in a peaceful atmosphere on Sunday (14 December), but as the day progressed, political allegations and counter-allegations intensified. Voting started at 8 am for a total of 22 district councils and 153 panchayat samitis in the state, which continued till 4 pm. According to the State Election Commission, about 48 percent voting was recorded in the entire state. Counting of votes will be done on December 17.

Allegations of rigging, attack by opposition

During the voting, Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal made serious allegations against the ruling Aam Aadmi Party of blatant rigging. Congress leaders say that at many places ‘AAP’ supporters tried to influence the voting process.

Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding alleged that a polling booth was captured at the behest of the local AAP MLA in Babania village of Muktsar district.

CM rejected the allegations

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann completely rejected the allegations of the opposition and said that these allegations are an admission of defeat by the opposition. He said that the elections have been conducted in a fair manner and the public’s decision will be visible to all.

The State Election Commission issued a statement saying that no major loss of life or property or serious clashes have been reported from anywhere during the voting. However, following complaints of violence and irregularities, the Commission has ordered re-polling on Monday in some zones of Amritsar, Barnala, Muktsar, Gurdaspur and Jalandhar.

Controversy arose over photographs of ballot papers

Shiromani Akali Dal wrote a letter to the State Election Commission alleging that an AAP candidate in Fatehgarh Sahib had posted pictures of ballot papers on social media about 10 hours before the start of voting. Akali Dal has called it a serious violation of election rules.

During the elections, incidents of stone pelting between workers of rival parties were reported in many areas including Tarn Taran and Ferozepur. There is also news of a BJP candidate being injured in the clash that took place in Bukankhanwala village of Firozpur.

Meanwhile, a sad news came from Moga district. The car of a government teacher couple going on election duty fell into a drain, resulting in the death of both of them. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed deep sorrow over this incident and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
