UPSC Prelims 2026: UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026, which is included in the most difficult and prestigious examinations of the country, is now just around the corner. On May 24, lakhs of candidates will reach the examination center with dreams of IAS, IPS, IFS and other big government services. But every year some candidates make such small mistakes due to which they have to face difficulty in appearing in the examination.

If someone forgets the admit card, someone is not able to reach the center on time. In such a situation, a day before the examination, it is important that all the candidates, along with their preparation, also check the necessary documents and rules. Know here what to take to the examination centre, what not to take and what things need to be taken special care of.

Admit card is the most important document to get admission in UPSC Prelims exam. Without this you will not be allowed to enter the examination centre. Candidates are advised to keep a clean and clear printout of the admit card with them. The address of the examination centre, reporting time and examination shift information is given on the admit card itself. Therefore, it is important to check all the details thoroughly once. You can also keep an extra print copy with you for safety.

Identity card will also be necessary

Candidates will also have to carry an original photo identity card. Government identity cards like Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, Passport or Driving License will be valid. Digital copy or photocopy will not be accepted at the examination centre, hence it is important to carry the original identity card. UPSC has also advised the candidates to carry two recent passport size photographs. If the photograph on the admit card is not clearly visible or is old, these photographs can be useful during verification.

Only limited items will be allowed inside the examination hall. Candidates can carry black ball point pen, transparent water bottle and simple analog watch. Only black ball point pen has to be used to fill the answers on the OMR sheet. On the other hand, there will be a complete ban on carrying mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, earphones, calculators, notes, books, bags, wallets and other electronic devices inside the examination centre. If any candidate is found with prohibited items, his/her candidature may be cancelled.

UPSC has also advised the candidates to reach the examination center well in time. Usually the entry is closed about 30 minutes before the start of the examination. Therefore, it would be better to reach the center early to avoid last minute rush. Security check and document verification may also take time. In such a situation, unnecessary stress can be avoided by keeping all the necessary documents ready in advance and checking the route to the examination center in advance. UPSC Prelims is the first stage of Civil Services Examination and from here begins the path to reach the most prestigious services of the country. Therefore, candidates should appear in the examination with full preparation and confidence following the rules.
