Oil companies have decided to bear the increased cost of inputs, which also includes the cost of ATF used by domestic airlines.

However, the prices of ATF and some industrial fuels for international aviation companies have been increased in line with global standards. Here, this increase in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders is effective from May 1. The price of 19 kg commercial cylinder in Delhi has now become Rs 3,071.50.

Responding to a question about the possible impact in the current quarter, the company’s founder Deepinder Goyal said that although some restaurants in the affected areas faced some temporary supply issues, the overall business at the platform level continued without any interruption. “There has been no significant impact so far,” he said.

• Prices of items ranging from tea-samosas to chaat-pakodas may increase because due to increase in costs, small vendors may either increase prices or reduce quantities.

OMCs loss on LPG: The prices of commercial LPG cylinders have been increased by Rs 993 today. After the increase in the prices of commercial cylinders on Friday morning due to increase in energy prices across the world amid the war between Iran and America, the price of 19 kg commercial cylinder in Gurgaon has now become Rs 3,088, which was earlier Rs 2,095.

Its price in Delhi is Rs 3,071.50. Domestic LPG prices remain the same as before. It was increased by Rs 60 only once in March this year. To protect the general public of the country from inflation, the prices of domestic cylinders have been kept stable. Oil companies are bearing the input costs themselves, due to which they are incurring huge losses.

Companies suffered losses of more than Rs 40,000.

According to an estimate, by the end of May, government oil marketing companies (OMCs) are expected to suffer a loss of approximately Rs 40,484 crore. This loss will be due to ‘under-recovery’ on LPG cylinders as oil prices are high in the international market due to the ongoing tension in West Asia.

According to the report, oil companies are incurring a loss of around Rs 380 on a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder. The Petroleum Ministry said, “Last year also, out of the total loss of Rs 60,000 crore, the burden of Rs 30,000 crore was borne by the state-owned oil companies (PSUs) and the burden of Rs 30,000 crore was borne by the Government of India so that Indian citizens could be protected from the impact of high prices of LPG in the international market.”

Why was the price of commercial cylinder increased?

Indian government refiner companies had increased the price of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 195.50 with immediate effect from April 1. Since then this sequence has continued continuously. The government said that this increase in the price of commercial cylinders is due to a 44 percent increase in the ‘Saudi Contract Price’.

Saudi contract prices, an international benchmark for Indian prices, have increased from $542 per metric ton (MT) in March to $780 per metric ton in April. Global LPG prices have increased because 20-30 percent of the global LPG supply is stuck in the Strait of Hormuz due to the increasing conflict in the region.

Iran War Hormuz Update LPG Ship: Keeping an eye on the situation regarding supply and demand of essential commodities like gas, petrol and chemicals sector in the country, the Petroleum Ministry has shared important information. According to the ministry, continuous efforts are being made to maintain the smooth supply of LPG, under which more than 58 lakh domestic LPG cylinders were distributed in a single day. At the same time, the availability of commercial LPG has also increased to about 70 percent, due to which there is relief in the market.

The ministry said that 6700 tonnes of commercial LPG was sold in a day, which is equivalent to about 3.5 lakh cylinders, while about 1.06 lakh 5 kg cylinders were also sold. Apart from this, up to 95 percent supply of natural gas is being ensured for fertilizer plants and daily production of LPG has also reached 48,000 tonnes.

Medicine prices stable, LPG ship crosses Hormuz

At the same time, global supply in the chemical and fertilizer sector has been affected, due to which the raw materials of some medicines have been affected, but there has been no increase in the prices of medicines. It was told in the shipping update that on April 5, the ship carrying LPG has crossed the Strait of Hormuz, due to which further improvement in supply is expected.

Safe return of Indians advised – Ministry of External Affairs

The Ministry of External Affairs clarified that till now there has been no discussion between India and Iran regarding toll on Hormuz. The ministry also said that India has been providing energy products to Bangladesh for the last several years and at present about 7500 Indian citizens are present in Iran.

The Ministry said that in view of the current peace and ceasefire situation, Indian citizens can return to India through Armenia or Azerbaijan in a safe environment, while denying any comment regarding the Defense Minister of Pakistan.

LPG Supply News: The current geopolitical situation is impacting energy markets around the world, but domestic LPG supply in India remains completely stable and adequate. Indian Oil has confirmed that domestic LPG continues to be given top priority and delivery to homes is continuing without any interruption.

Indian Oil is delivering around 28 lakh LPG cylinders daily, which is equal to the normal level before the current tension started. Customers are being advised to use digital services like SMS and IVRS to book refills. At present, about 87 percent of the bookings are being done through digital platforms. To maintain transparency in delivery, Delivery Authentication Code (DAC OTP) is being used, so that the cylinder reaches the right customer.

Action taken against 141 LPG distributors

Based on social media and customer complaints, reports of irregularities committed by some LPG distributors have been received. To curb this, more than 7,500 inspections have been conducted and action has been taken against 141 LPG distributors, out of which 5 distributors have been suspended.

Adequate supply of LPG in the country – Indian Oil

Additionally, Indian Oil and other oil marketing companies in collaboration with state governments are continuously taking steps to prevent irregularities and hoarding. So far, around 68,000 raids have been conducted, 855 FIRs have been registered and more than 48,000 cylinders have been seized.

Indian Oil Indane has appealed to its customers not to believe in rumours, not to panic, stand in queues, do cylinder booking or hoard, and get information only from official sources. Indian Oil has assured that the supply of LPG in the country is adequate, stable and fully monitored. This commitment will continue to ensure availability of domestic gas.

Commercial LPG Cylinder Price Hike: Even before the presentation of Budget 2026, the government has shocked the common people and businessmen. The government has increased the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder by Rs 50. However, there has been no change in the prices of 14 kg domestic LPG cylinder. Domestic cylinders are still available at the old rate fixed on April 8, 2025.

Commercial cylinder prices increased from Delhi to Chennai

Government companies involved in petroleum marketing review the prices of LPG cylinders on the first of every month. Earlier in January, the prices of 19 kg commercial gas cylinders were increased.
