Indian Air Force AWACS: Taking a historic step, the Government of India has approved the development of six new AEW & C (Airborne Early Warning and Control) for the Indian Air Force (IAF). These reconnaissance aircraft are known as ‘Netra Mkii’.

The objective of this project is to make India self -sufficient in the modern air alert control system. The Air Force’s strategic monitoring and interaction is to increase and strengthen the regional security structure. AEW & C means Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft work as a radar flying in the sky for air monitoring.

What is the role of AWACS?

-Find out hundreds of kilometers before the aircraft, drone or missile of Dushman.
-Giving real time intelligence to commanders in the war ground.
-Guidance of fighter jets in exercise.
Due to the abilities, these aircraft are called Force Multiplier i.e. strength.

What is the specialty of AWACS?

-Aesa radar (Active Electronically Scanned Array), which will provide 360-degree coverage.

-Dar Dome: A large fixed radar dome on the roof of the aircraft which will have a monitoring system.

Economic intelligence suits: which will be able to catch the enemy radar and communication signal.

-Deta Networking: This will work as aircraft aircraft control center

Explain that the duration of this project has been kept for three to four years, in which DRDO will develop in collaboration with Indian private and public industrial partners.

Current AEW & C Capacity and Eye MKII Importance

Currently, the Indian Air Force has 3 Israeli Falcon System (360 ° Coverage), 2 DRDO-produced eye MKI system (Embraer platform based on Embraer platform, 240 ° coverage), but when the Air Force gets MKII of the eye, there will be no good for enemies.

What will be new in the eye mkii?

-AwEW & C the total number of aircraft will now be 11, which will be doubled compared to before.
-There will be development, design and production work within the country.
-360 degree coverage will give better coverage.
-And the Old Airbus A321 platform will be used again.
