An Indian employee has died in a drone attack carried out by Ukraine in the Russian capital Moscow at midnight on Sunday (May 17, 2026). While three other Indian employees have been injured in this attack. The Indian Embassy in Russia has shared information about this. The embassy has expressed condolences to the Indian killed in the attack and said that we are working closely with the local authorities.

The Indian Embassy shared a post in this regard on social media platform X on Sunday (May 17, 2026). The Embassy said in the post, ‘Today, an Indian employee was killed in a drone attack in the Moscow area, while three other Indians were injured. Embassy officials also visited the incident site and met the injured employees in the hospital.

Today in Moscow, one Indian citizen died and three more were injured as a result of an unmanned aerial vehicle attack. Police personnel rushed to the scene of the incident and took the victims to the hospital.

The post further said, ‘The Embassy expressed its deepest condolences to the Indian employee who died in this horrific drone attack and said that we are working with the company management and local authorities to provide necessary assistance to the affected employees.’

Total three killed and 12 injured in Ukrainian drone attack

Russian officials said that at least three people have died in the drone attack carried out by Ukraine, while 12 others have been injured. Russia’s government news agency TASS, quoting Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, reported that Russian air defense destroyed 81 drones heading towards Moscow at midnight, while more than 120 drones have been shot down in the last 24 hours. He has termed this drone attack as the biggest attack carried out by Ukraine in the last one year.

He said, ‘Despite these drone attacks, Moscow’s oil refinery technology has not been affected in any way, it has not suffered any damage. However, three nearby houses have been damaged. Russia’s Defense Ministry said that 556 drones have been shot down in the last 24 hours across the country, including the Moscow region, from midnight to morning.
