Harbhajan Singh Angry On Shubman Gill: The use of DRS for wide and no balls started from the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League. Under this rule, players of both the teams can challenge the umpire’s decision of wide and no ball. During IPL 2026, former Team India spinner Harbhajan Singh got angry at this rule, when in the 60th match of the season, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill took 2 consecutive DRS against Kolkata Knight Riders.

During the commentary, Harbhajan Singh said that having DRS for wide and no balls like this is a waste of time. The incident of taking DRS continuously happened in the sixth over, when Kagiso Rabada was bowling.

Gill took review for LBW on the second ball of the over. The decision was taken on umpire call. This did not spoil Gujarat’s review and Kolkata’s Angkrish Raghuvanshi was not even given out.

Harbhajan Singh angry over second consecutive DRS

The third ball of the over fell outside the off stump, which was declared wide by the umpire. Rabada did not look happy with the decision of this wide and Shubman Gill took the second DRS in a row, on which Harbhajan got angry.

Talking about the second consecutive review of Gujarat, Bhajji said that it is a waste of time. Whether it is protocol to check ultra edge on wide review or not, but it is definitely a waste of time.

Bhajji further said how due to this the timing of the match increases. He told that due to these reasons the match takes 4:30 hours, whereas earlier the match used to end early.

Now it will be interesting to see whether some action is taken by IPL on this statement of Harbhajan or not. Let us tell you that till now there has been no such rule in international cricket by which batsmen can challenge the decision of wide or no ball.

Aus vs wi test: In the ongoing first Test match between Australia and West Indies, more discussion is being done about the decisions of third umpire than the game. In the first matches, there has been a continuous disputed decisions in a two -day game into debate. West Indies head coach Darren Sammy has made serious allegations against the third umpire Adrian Holdstock. He has said that such decisions of the umpire are harming the game and are creating scope of suspicion.

Four disputed decisions of third umpire

So far, four such DRS decisions have been taken in the Australia vs. West Indies Test in Bridgetown, which have raised questions by even players, coaches and commentators.

During Australia’s first innings, when the bat of Travis Head hit a light internal edge off Shamar Joseph and wicketkeeper Shai Hope caught a catch, the matter went to the third umpire. Ultra-Edge was clearly seen hitting the ball with the bat and Hope also caught a soft catch, but the third umpire called the head not out.

After this, at the beginning of the second day, Roston Chase was given a knotout after an appeal off Josh Hazlewood. In DRS, the third umpire admitted that the ball was first bang, so he was called notout, but after that in the 50th over, Chase was again given LBW out off Pat Cummins. This time there were ‘Spikes’ on Ultra-Eudge in DRS, that is, the ball was seen touching the bat, yet the third umpire said that there was a gap between the bat and the ball and Chase was called out. On this decision, the commentator Ian Bishop said on-air, “I do not agree with this decision because the ball is first hit by the bat.”

In the 58th over of the West Indies innings, Alex Carrie lashed out by Shai Hope with one hand. The field umpire sent the verdict to the third umpire and the third umpire called it out, while the ball was seen touching the ground while Carrie fell in the replay. This decision was overshadowed by the West Indies innings and the team was reduced to 190 runs.

Coach Darren Sammy’s anger exploded

After all these decisions, West Indies coach Darren Sammy said clearly after the day’s play is over, “You don’t want the decision to go to the umpires during the match, but when such decisions are made one after the other, it becomes necessary to raise the question.” He also added that these mistakes have an impact not only on the scoreboard, but also on the defeat and victory of the match.
