<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Difference between stress and depression:</strong> Nowadays, in this fast-paced life, the thing called relaxation is slipping away from human hands. There is stress in everyone&#8217;s life. Some are about job, some are about studies, some are about love. Everyone has their own reasons. Long working hours, work pressure and personal responsibilities together make a person mentally tired. But during this time we go through two things. The first is stress and the second is depression. Often people are not able to understand the difference between them. Let us tell you how to know whether you are mentally tired or not.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>What is stress?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">According to WHO, this is a process that arises due to work pressure. This cannot be called depression. It has three main symptoms. The first is lack of energy or constant fatigue, the second is distance from work and negative thinking and the third is constant decrease in energy to work. In simple words, if you no longer have the enthusiasm to work, your work seems like a burden and you repeatedly think, &#8220;I can&#8217;t do it anymore&#8221;, then it can be a sign of mental stress.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>What is depression?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">If the symptoms of depression are seen apart from stress, then it is a kind of mental disorder. WHO report shows that crores of people around the world are suffering from depression. This not only affects a person&#8217;s work, it ruins a person&#8217;s entire life. If we talk about its symptoms, then there are many types of symptoms, which include constant feeling of sadness or despair, loss of interest in things which used to give pleasure earlier, change in sleep and appetite, feeling guilty and sometimes the person even starts thinking of taking wrong steps when alone.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>How to recognize the difference?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">According to a research published in Frontiers in Psychology in 2019, if fatigue and negative thinking is mainly limited to work or responsibilities, it could be stress. But if sadness and hopelessness are affecting every aspect of life, then it could be depression. Stress can be improved by taking time and rest, but for depression you may have to meet an expert. In this research it was told that some similarities are also seen between these two. However, it is important to consider both separately, because their treatments and solutions are also different. To avoid this, you have to regularly pay attention to your mental state and if you are tired just from work, then sleep, exercise, balanced diet and take breaks from time to time. If symptoms of depression are visible, then you will have to meet an expert for this.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Depression in Youth:</strong> Today, the youth of India are so entangled in the pressure of career and studies that problems like mental fatigue, anxiety and depression have become common. Constantly increasing competition, pressure for better results and fear of failure are disturbing the mental balance of the youth.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A recent research has revealed that about 70 percent of the youth in India are struggling with stress and anxiety. Whereas more than 60 percent students are facing symptoms of depression. In such a situation, let us tell you today why youth are struggling with stress and depression and what has come to light in this study.</p>
<p><strong>Survey conducted in eight big cities of the country</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This research on youth has been done jointly by SRM University located in Amravati, Andhra Pradesh and the University of Singapore. About 2 thousand students from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad and Kolkata were included in this research. The age of these students was between 18 to 29 years, of which about 52.9 percent were women and 47.1 percent were men. The survey found that about 70 percent of the students are troubled by stress. Whereas symptoms of depression have been felt in 60 percent. Many students said that the pressure of studies, grades and career has made them mentally weak. The students involved in this research say that the constant expectation of better performance and the pressure of studies are increasing their emotional fatigue. Most of them have described themselves as emotionally distressed.</p>
<p><strong>It is important to talk about mental health</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Experts from Singapore University involved in this research say that studies and social pressure deeply affect the mental health of students. According to him, in the competition for grades and career, students ignore their emotional development. In such a situation, it is important for universities to promote conversation on mental health.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>India&#8217;s top institutes are increasing the conversation on mental health.</strong></p>
<p>According to the report, many leading institutions of India are now serious about the mental health of students. Among these institutes, IIT Kharagpur has started Setu app for students. IIT Guwahati has made counseling mandatory for first year students. Peer support sessions and outreach programs are also being run in IIT Kanpur. There are regular discussions on mental health at IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay has partnered with doctors to help students.</p>
