Recently, during a show in Saudi Arabia, Bollywood actor Salman Khan had described Balochistan as a separate country from Pakistan, due to which the neighboring country is upset. Shahbaz government has declared Salman Khan a terrorist. Pakistan’s Home Ministry has also issued a notification regarding this.

The Home Department of Pakistan has put Salman Khan in the Fourth Schedule, that is, he has been declared a terrorist. This list comes under the Anti-Terrorism Act and legal action can be taken against the person included in it in Pakistan. An official notification has also been issued in this regard. However, there is no reaction yet on this matter from Salman Khan or his representatives.

What did Salman Khan say?

A video of Bollywood actor Salman Khan speaking at the Joy Forum 2025 held in Saudi Arabia has gone viral on social media. In this video he said, “These are people of Balochistan, people of Afghanistan, people of Pakistan, everyone is working hard in Saudi Arabia.” In this statement he separated the name of Balochistan from Pakistan.

After this statement of Salman, anger has spread in Pakistan, while the separatist leaders of Balochistan are happy with this and are thanking Salman. At present it is not clear whether Salman deliberately separated the name of Balochistan from Pakistan or said so unknowingly.

What did Baloch leaders say on Salman’s statement?

Mir Yar Baloch, a leader who demands making Balochistan an independent country, said, “Indian film industry legend Salman Khan’s mention of Balochistan in Saudi Arabia has brought happiness to six crore Baloch citizens.”

He further said, “Salman did something that even big countries would hesitate in doing. These gestures of cultural recognition are a powerful medium of soft diplomacy, connecting the hearts of people and inspiring the world to recognize Balochistan as a separate nation.”

Freedom fight going on in Balochistan

The biggest reason for the insurgency in Balochistan is discrimination against the population here by the Pakistan government. This province is very rich in mineral resources, but economically it is the most backward state of Pakistan.

Pakistan handed over Gwadar Port located in Balochistan to China, but this project did not benefit the people of Balochistan. For this reason, there is continuous opposition to Chinese projects here. The construction work of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is going on here, where attacks often take place.

The area of Balochistan is about 46% of Pakistan, but its population is only 15 million, i.e. about 6% of the total population of Pakistan. About 70% people here live below the poverty line.

Furthermore, people of Baloch origin face discrimination in Pakistan, mainly by Muslims from the Punjab region. Even in the Pakistani Army, Baloch people are not appointed to top positions, which further increases the dissatisfaction.

BLA’s recent violent actions against Pakistan

January 4, 2025: BLA attacked and killed 43 Pakistani soldiers.

1 February 2025: Attack on paramilitary forces, in which 18 soldiers were killed.

12 March 2025: Train hijacked, 200 soldiers died in this attack.

16 March 2025: Attack on a bus, in which 90 soldiers were killed.

6 May 2025: 6 soldiers were killed in the attack.

Afghanistan History: Afghanistan, which is often called the graveyard of empires, holds within itself thousands of years of history. Over the centuries, Afghanistan has seen the rise and fall of empires as well as invasions and foreign occupations. In recent times, its relations with Pakistan are becoming very tense. Although its roots are quite old. Similarly, Afghanistan’s relations with America were also not special. Today we will know how Afghanistan has been defeating its enemies even without nuclear power. Before this, let us take a look at the history of Afghanistan.

Ancient history and the spread of Islam

Human settlement in Afghanistan has been going on since the Stone Age. Over time, it became a part of major empires like the Persian Empire, the Maurya Empire and the conquests of Alexander the Great. Islam started spreading here by the seventh century AD and by the ninth century it became a major religion.

During the medieval period, Afghanistan was a war zone between the Mughal and Safavid Persian empires. Ahmed Shah Durrani established the Durrani Empire in the 18th century. This was followed by the ‘Great Game’, a geopolitical conflict between the British and Russian Empires in the 19th century. It also affected Afghanistan but in 1919 Afghanistan gained full sovereignty.

Soviet war and American intervention

The Soviet invasion of 1979 gave rise to a major war. After the Soviet withdrawal in 1989, Afghanistan became embroiled in civil war. This was the reason why Taliban rule was established in the 1990s. After the 9/11 attacks, America attacked Afghanistan in 2001 and temporarily removed the Taliban. But even two decades of military presence could not achieve permanent control. After America’s withdrawal in 2021, Taliban regained power.

Strength of Afghanistan without nuclear weapons

Actually, Afghan fighters are experts in guerrilla warfare. They believe in ambush attacks and hide in mountain caves using hit and run attacks. Local knowledge of the area also gives them a much needed advantage. Apart from this, if we talk about weapons, America has been the biggest source of weapons for Afghanistan. In fact, when America returned with its army from Afghanistan in 2021, it left a large amount of military equipment and weapons there. Apart from this, Afghanistan also has Soviet era weapons. Not only this, in the last 40 years of wars, the Taliban have seized large quantities of arms and ammunition from Afghanistan and other groups.

Along with this, if we talk about the support of other countries, then China, Iran, Qatar and Russia have been accused of supporting Taliban. Not only this, but they have also been accusing Taliban of getting support from Pakistan. On the other hand, the mountainous terrain of Afghanistan, especially the Hindu Kush mountain range, proves to be a big challenge for foreign fighters. Hundreds of caves provide safe shelter for fighters. Because of which it becomes very difficult for any army to achieve permanent control.

After several days of violent clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan, both sides had agreed to stop the conflict. On Sunday (October 19), the defense ministers of both the countries met in Doha under the mediation of Qatar and Türkiye. After this meeting, Qatar issued a statement saying that both sides have agreed for further talks and cooperation.

Immediately after this good news for Pakistan, Qatar amended the statement, which gave an unexpected blow to Pakistan. In the initial statement, Qatar had mentioned the Durand Line between Afghanistan and Pakistan while discussing the ceasefire. The Durand Line is an imaginary border that was created during the British colonial era and Afghanistan never recognizes it. Due to this, there were protests and widespread reactions regarding this statement in Afghanistan.

Qatar removed mention of Durand Line from its statement

Later, Qatar removed the mention of Durand Line from its statement. This limit is no longer mentioned in the revised statement uploaded on the website of Qatar’s Foreign Ministry. Zalmay Khalilzad, former US Special Envoy to Afghanistan, said on social media platforms that Qatar has changed its earlier statement on the ceasefire between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

What did the Defense Minister of Afghanistan say?

Meanwhile, Afghan Defense Minister Mullah Yakub Mujahid said in an online press conference from Doha that there was no discussion on the Durand Line during the talks. He clarified that there is no mention of Durand Line in the agreement and it is only an internal matter of both the countries. He also said that if Pakistan attacks, Afghanistan will not hesitate to retaliate.

The dispute regarding Durand Line has been going on for a long time. Afghanistan never accepts it, while Pakistan considers it the real international border. Due to this disagreement, violent clashes have taken place several times on the borders of both the countries.

Clashes broke out again between Pakistan and Afghanistan on Sunday (October 12, 2025). Both countries have blamed each other for worsening the situation. The Taliban government of Afghanistan has claimed that its forces killed a total of 58 Pakistani soldiers in these latest clashes. The clashes between the two countries started when Pakistan recently bombed alleged terrorist hideouts on the outskirts of Kabul.

Pakistan claimed that more than 200 Taliban fighters were killed in this bombing, while 23 of their soldiers died. At the same time, Taliban spokesperson described the clashes on Sunday (October 12, 2025) as an action taken in response to repeated violations of Afghanistan’s border and airspace.

What is the main reason behind the increasing tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan?,

Actually, the main reason for the increasing tension on the Durand Line between the armies of Pakistan and Afghanistan is Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). This organization has been active in Pakistan for a long time and its aim is to implement Shariat law in Pakistan and destabilize the government.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is also called Pakistani Taliban. It is a banned terrorist organization and extremist group, which is active in the Afghan-Pakistan border area. This is the same organization which is currently the main cause of violence erupting on the border. Both sides have suffered heavy casualties in this conflict.

Pakistan is making allegations, Afghan minister rejected the allegations

Pakistan has been continuously alleging that the Afghan Taliban is giving shelter to TTP members, who carry out attacks on Pakistani soil. However, Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Aamir Khan Muttaki, during a press conference during his visit to India on Sunday (October 12, 2025), completely rejected all the allegations of Pakistan. He said that not a single member of TTP is active on the soil of his country.

TTP was formed in 2007

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was formed in 2007 under the leadership of Betullah Mehsud. The organization was a coalition of several militant groups that operated somewhat independently. The purpose of which was to wage war against the army in the tribal areas of Pakistan. After the death of Betullah Mehsud, this organization is currently being led by Noor Wali Mehsud, who is the Amir of TTP.

Afghan government spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid claimed in a press conference in Kabul that 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 30 were injured in the clash between Afghan security forces and Pakistani army last night (October 11). Afghan officials also said that more than 20 members of the Afghan security forces were injured or martyred. According to Mujahid, many weapons were also captured by Afghan forces in this operation.

Taliban spokesperson seriously accused the Pakistani army and government of training ISKP (Islamic State – Khorasan Province) terrorists and giving them shelter on their soil. He said that these terrorists are trained directly from Karachi and Islamabad airports and then sent to Afghanistan. Mujahid also claimed that the attacks in Tehran and Moscow were also planned from these centers in Pakistan.

At the beginning of the press conference, Zabiullah Mujahid informed that at present the situation on Pakistan-Afghanistan Durand Line is completely under control and illegal activities have been stopped on a large scale. He claimed that several concrete steps have recently been taken by the Afghan Defense Ministry to further strengthen the surveillance and security arrangements of the border areas.

Zabiullah Mujahid said the overall security situation in Afghanistan is in “excellent condition” and no major security or political crisis has arisen in the last eight months. According to Mujahid, those responsible for all the attacks carried out by terrorists from neighboring countries have either been killed or arrested.

ABP News has been exposing the camps of Islamic State Khorasan (ISKP) in Pakistan for the past several months, today Afghanistan government spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid informed that the head of “ISIS-Khorasan (ISKP)” and his top associates are currently hiding on Pakistani soil. Zabiullah Mujahid said in the press conference, “According to our accurate information, Shahab al-Muhajir, Abdul Hakeem Tawhidi, Sultan Aziz Azzam and Salahuddin Rajab are present on Pakistani soil and we demand the Government of Pakistan to hand them over to Afghanistan or expel them from Pakistan.”

Afghan government spokesperson warned Pakistan

Mujahid appealed to Pakistan to hand over terrorist leaders and important ISKP members to Afghanistan or expel them from Pakistan’s border. He warned that if this is not done, it could have serious and unexpected consequences.

The Defense Ministry of the Taliban government has said that if the opposing side again disregards Afghanistan’s border, the Afghan Armed Forces will protect the country’s borders with full preparation and will give a strong response.

Initially Torkham border was closed. Torkham border is one of the main trade routes of these two countries. Later Pakistan closed all the main border crossings with Afghanistan. There is a 2,611 km long Durand Line between the two countries, which Afghanistan never recognizes.

Rift in relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan

Relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan are not good after the Taliban returned to power in 2021. Pakistan alleges that terrorists are getting shelter in Afghanistan, while the Afghan government has been denying it.

Tension on the borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan

Pakistan had carried out an airstrike in Afghanistan, after which Afghan Taliban forces on the borders last night (11 October) attacked several targets in the border districts of Pakistan, such as Paktia, Paktika, Kunar, Khost, Helmand and Nangarhar. The Taliban says that this action was taken in response to Pakistan’s airstrike, in which a market in Afghanistan was targeted.

The Pakistani army also retaliated and claimed to have destroyed several Afghan targets. Media reports and video footage showed that Pakistani forces suffered heavy losses, some positions were destroyed and weapons fell into the hands of the Taliban. Drones and radar systems were also affected.

Once again the sound of bullets is echoing near the Durand Line. Taliban fighters are entering the border of Pakistan and attacking military posts. Pakistan has started retaliatory firing, due to which tension between the two countries has increased. This dispute between Afghanistan and Pakistan is not new. This 2640 km long international border, called the Durand Line, has been a cause of conflict between the two countries for decades.

Afghanistan does not recognize this border. According to him, this is a “hypothetical line” i.e. an imaginary border, which was created by the British government for its own interests. The Durand Line is a line drawn in 1893 that forms the border between present-day Pakistan and Afghanistan. It was built by British officer Sir Henry Durand under an agreement with the then Afghan ruler Abdur Rahman Khan. The objective of the British was to create a buffer zone between India (then British India) and Afghanistan so that Russia’s expansionist policy could be stopped. This line passes through Pashtun and Baloch tribal areas, due to which the families of these communities were divided between two countries. This is what makes this border the most controversial.

Why doesn’t Afghanistan agree?

Afghanistan could never officially recognize this line. He says that this is a forcibly imposed border of the colonial period, which was decided without taking the opinion of the local tribes. The Durand Line affected the Pashtun community the most. They had been living in the border areas for centuries, but now their families and tribes were divided between the two countries. According to Afghanistan, the British drew this line according to their political and military needs, and not keeping in mind the interests of the people. This is the reason why even today this border hurts the sentiments of the Afghan people.

Why did tension increase after the arrival of Taliban?

After the Taliban came to power in 2021, Pakistan hoped that a “friendly government” would be formed in Kabul which would recognize the Durand Line, but the opposite happened. The Taliban described this line as a violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty and accused Pakistan of trying to forcibly determine the border by erecting a fence in this area. Since then, there have been several border clashes between the Taliban and the Pakistani army. Taliban-backed terrorist organization TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan) has also been carrying out attacks in Pakistan, due to which the tension has deepened.

Strength of Taliban and Afghan army

According to the former Vice President of Afghanistan, the Taliban has about 80 thousand fighters, while the Afghan army has 5 to 6 lakh soldiers. Despite this, the Taliban continues to dominate the Afghan army. The strength of Taliban lies in its tribal roots and religious networks. Madrassas, fundamentalist religious organizations and tribal support have strengthened the Taliban at the grassroots level. Apart from this, the secret help of Pakistani Army and ISI has also played a big role in the emergence of Taliban as a military force. This is the reason why now the same Taliban is opening a front against Pakistan.

challenge for pakistan

Pakistan now seems to be trapped in a trap of its own making. The Taliban, which it once nurtured for strategic depth, has now become a threat on its borders. The Taliban not only rejects the Durand Line, but is also trying to increase its religious and political hold in the border areas of Pakistan. Taliban attacks on Pakistani army posts show that this border is no longer just a geographical dispute but has become a security crisis.

Durand Line is the most dangerous border in the world

This 2640 km long line passes through sensitive areas like Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. This is the reason why it is called the most dangerous border in the world. Cross-border attacks, illegal trade and terrorist activities take place here every day. The life of the people living in this area always passes between instability and fear.

The recent increasing tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan has once again raised concerns about regional security. Once again Pakistan has violated the airspace of Afghanistan. Pakistani forces targeted a civilian market in Margha area of Paktika province, which is located near the Durand Line. Not only this, the Pakistani Air Force also violated the airspace over the capital Kabul.

Afghan officials condemned the attack
Afghan officials have described this incident as the most serious and condemnable act ever. He said that this is an unprecedented, violent and condemnable action in the history of Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Afghan administration said, ‘We strongly condemn such violations. It is our legitimate right to protect the sovereignty of Afghanistan. Afghanistan has warned that if such action is repeated, the Pakistani Army will have to bear the consequences.

Airstrike was done earlier also
Earlier on Thursday night, Pakistan had carried out air strikes on several positions of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. According to Pakistani media reports, the purpose of the airstrike was to target TTP Chief Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud.

Taliban Foreign Minister warned
After these attacks, Afghanistan reacted in strong words. Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaki said, ‘Pakistan should stop playing games with us. Don’t provoke Afghanistan too much. If you do this, then ask Britain and America once, they will explain to you that it is not right to play such games with Afghanistan. We want a diplomatic path.

At the same time, Afghan media Tolo News has released an audio message of Mufti Noor Wali Mehsud, in which he is claiming that there has been no attack on us.

Taliban Foreign Minister Muttaki is on India tour
This airstrike took place at a time when Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaki is on a visit to India. This visit is for about seven days and during this time India-Afghanistan relations and regional stability are being discussed. After this entire incident, tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan is continuously increasing.
