Former judge Justice Markandey Katju has expressed displeasure over the comments of the judges on the incident of shoe throwing in the Supreme Court. He says that judges should not speak too much during the hearing because by doing so they themselves invite such incidents. He met former Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud was also mentioned and said that he kept speaking during the hearing.

Markandey Katju made a post regarding this incident on the social media platform and also shared one of his articles. In this he has mentioned the hearing of the rape and murder case of RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata. He said that Justice Chandrachud was repeatedly asking questions in the court as to why there was a delay in filing the FIR. He said that there is no need for unnecessary comments. There was no need to comment on Chief Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai’s petition demanding restoration of the idol of Lord Vishnu in the Khajuraho temple. He said that by making these unnecessary and inappropriate comments the CJI himself has invited this incident.

Markandey Katju also spoke on the hearing of the case of Professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad of Ashoka University and said that a judge of the hearing bench said that the professor’s post is dog whistling, what was the need for this comment.

Ali Khan Mahmudabad had made a post on social media regarding Operation Sindoor, for which he was accused that his post posed a threat to the sovereignty and integrity of the country. Due to this, FIR was registered against him and on May 18, Haryana Police arrested him. However, he later got bail.

While hearing the bail plea of Ali Khan Mahmudabad, Supreme Court judge Justice Surya Kant had reprimanded him for the post. During this, he had also said that the things the professor wrote in his post are called dog whistling. He had said, ‘Everyone has the right to freedom of expression, but is this the time to say such things? He said that some terrorists came to the country and attacked our people and went away… we need to be united. Was such cheap popularity needed at such a time?

After the completion of the legal process of many years, a grand temple of Lord Shri Ram is being constructed in Ayodhya, but former Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. A new debate has started with Chandrachud’s comments. In fact, the former CJI made a statement during an interview that the construction of the Babri Masjid was originally impure. He had said that the place where there is already a mosque, then it was impure to build a mosque there. A new controversy has started since his statement.

Professor G.R. regarding this statement of former Chief Justice. Mohan Gopal retaliated and has said to file a chicken against the decision taken by the Ram temple. He has said that curative petition can be filed only on the basis of Chandrachud’s statement.

What did Professor G. Mohan gopal,

Professor G. Mohan Gopal said that in the statement of DY Chandrachud, that thing has been said, which was not said in the court’s decision. In such a situation, a reconsideration petition can be filed on the basis of his argument. In 2019, a constitutional bench of five judges of the Supreme Court ruled in the case of Ram temple. In that bench, Tatkali Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice S.A. Bobde, Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice Abdul Nazir were included.

What did the Supreme Court say in the verdict,

The Supreme Court had said in its judgment that the Muslim side has failed to prove that they have had a uninterrupted ownership at the Babri Masjid place. With this, the Supreme Court ruled with a majority on the Ram temple case, after which the construction of the temple has now been completed.

My statement is being seen incorrectly- Chandrachud

However, after a dispute over his statement, former Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has also given cleanliness. He said that his statement has been presented incorrectly. He said that the decision on Ram temple was given on the basis of evidence and legal principles and not on the basis of faith.

It is also read: ‘What should have been done, it is done’, actor Vijay came out for the first time after the stampede; Know what to say?

Former Chief Justice of India Dhananjay Yashwant Chandrachud has made a shocking disclosure by sharing his experiences as a CJI. He said that once a judge of the Karnataka High Court had called the Muslim dominated area as Pakistan, I did not like this.

DY Chandrachud told that he himself took cognizance and saw this matter. He has revealed this in an interview to The Lalantop. Chandrachud said, “As far as I remember. A case related to the Motor Vehicles Act was being heard in the Karnataka High Court. During this time a judge said,” The place that is ahead of this bridge is Pakistan. ” I saw a video related to this.

‘Judge’s decisions affect society’

DVI Chandrachud further said, “After the report came out, it was found that the judge had said this. I gave a small decision that no judge should say this. What you say or what you should have a dignity while giving the verdict. It affects the society.”

What did DY Chandrachud say on Justice Yashwant Verma?

During this time, he was also asked about the money received from Allahabad High Court judge Justice Yashwant Verma’s residence in Delhi. On this, he said that there should have been an FIR in this matter. However, he also questioned whether he had money or met his house? They should be given a chance to hear. He said, “Did his money be found in his house? Let’s not decide on this issue before giving the judge a full hearing opportunity.”

Should there have been an FIR file against Judge Yashwant Verma? On this, former CJI Chandrachud said that Zee is absolutely right that the FIR should be filed. The Vice President of that time, he commented a couple of times. Work should have been allowed, because if people come to the high constitutional post, then there should be some restraint on what you comment.

Former Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has told what problems they are facing, due to which it has been delayed. He says that his daughters are suffering from rare disorder, for whom he has set up ICU at home and will have to take care of his needs to shift to any new house. Justice Chandrachud will stay in the government residence allotted on the three statue route after leaving the CJI Residency. The former CJI said that they have packed the goods and will vacate this house in two weeks.

Justice D.Y. Chandrachud is currently living in a type 8 bungalow on 5 Krishna Menon Marg in Delhi. Talking to the bar and bench, he said, ‘We have packed our luggage and furniture. Only daily furniture used is out, which he will keep in a similar truck and take it to a new house. It will barely take 10 more days or it may take more than two weeks. Justice Chandrachud said that the time has been extended for many judges to stay in the bungalow earlier.

The Supreme Court wrote a letter to the government asking to vacate the bungalow
Justice Chandrachud retired from the post of CJI in November 2024. It has been eight months since he stayed in this residence, on which the Supreme Court has taken a tough stance and wrote a letter to the Union Urban Development Ministry and asked them to vacate the house. The letter stated that he had found type 7 bungalow as a temporary residence, but requested the Supreme Court administration to seek permission to stay in the old bungalow till April 30, 2025.

Found house on rent, Justice Chandrachud said
CJI Chandrachud says that the new bungalow that he has found on the Teen Murti Marg was going on and the contractor had asked to finish the work by June. He told that this bungalow was vacant for two years because no judge was ready to live in this bungalow, so a lot of work was to be done in it. Justice Chandrachud said that he thought of taking home even on rent for three months, but no honor is ready to give home for such a short time.

Justice Chandrachud’s daughters are victims of a disorder named Nemaline Myopathy
Justice Chandrachud said, ‘His daughters are now 16 and 14 years old, she is no longer a 6 -year -old girl. They have their own dignity, privacy and needs. There are small things like … the size of the bathroom door so that their wheelchairs go inside. ‘ Justice Chandrachud’s two daughters Priyanka and Mahi, whom they have adopted. Both are victims of a disorder called Nemaline Myopathy.

Former CJI Sanjeev Khanna was requested to stay in Bangal
Justice Chandrachud said that he had shortlisted some houses to rent, but one of them wanted two more months to finalize, so he requested the then CJI Sanjeev Khanna to stay in that bungalow till 28 April. He told that Justice Sanjeev Khanna said that he will not shift to Krishna Menon Marg Bungalow, so Justice Chandrachud can stay there. When Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai became a CJI, he told him that if he allows him to stay for a short time, it would be good and if not, he is ready to pay the bungalow fare on the market value according to the rule.

ICU setup is installed at home, said Justice Chandrachud
Justice Chandrachud said that there was no intention of delay in vacating his bungalow. He told that there is a small ICU setup in his house. When he was in Shimla, one of his daughters suddenly deteriorated, he started having trouble breathing and had to bring him to Chandigarh by flight. His daughter stayed in ICU for 44 days. He told that his daughter is still on the trekiostomy tube, which has to be cleaned, sometimes also has to change at midnight.

Dhananjaya y chandrachud: Former Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has given the first response to the letter written by the Supreme Court to the Central Government regarding the government residence. Former CJI Chandrachud has replied citing personal reasons for not vacating the bungalow.

Former CJI Chandrachud said about the delay in vacating the bungalow, that it has been delayed due to the needs of his family, because both his daughters need it. The Supreme Court has adopted a strict attitude if the former CJI is not left out of the government house even after 8 months. The court administration has written a letter to the Union Urban Development Ministry asking Chandrachud to vacate the house.

Daughters have serious illness- Chandrachud
Former Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud said that his daughters are struggling with serious diseases, including a genetic disease called Nemaline Mayopathy. He is being treated at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi. For this reason, it was not easy for him to find a right and convenient house.

Supreme Court already told the bungalow delay
Chandrachud told that he had already informed the judges and officers of the Supreme Court. He also said that he realizes his responsibilities well, because he has held the highest judicial post in the country.

Repair stopped and asked for a little more time
After retiring, he found a new bungalow on Tughlaq Road, but the repair work in Delhi stopped due to pollution control rules (GRAP-IV) during winter. Because of this, he sought permission to stay in the old bungalow for some more time, which he got.

Supreme Court asked to vacate the bungalow immediately
According to the Hindustan Times report, on July 1, the Supreme Court wrote a letter to the Housing Ministry saying that Bungalow No. 5 on Krishna Menon Marg, which is fixed for the current CJI, should be evacuated immediately. Chandrachud retired in November 2024, but is still living in the same bungalow. Both CJI after him are living in their old bungalows. Chandrachud had last taken oral approval to stop till 31 May 2025, but will not be allowed to pursue now.

Former Chief Justice, who has already made the Parliamentary Committee constituted on the Bill that provides for simultaneous elections, has already supported the constitutionalism of the concept of ‘one nation, one election’ (ONO), but has also given suggestions about various aspects of the bill, including the power given to the Election Commission.

Justice DY Chandrachud, who was the Chief Justice (CJI) of India, has rejected the opposition’s criticism in his opinion submitted to the Joint Parliamentary Committee that the simultaneous Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections together is a violation of the basic structure of the Constitution.

This thing was not written in the constitution

He said that there is no talk of separating national and state elections anywhere in the Constitution. However, according to the opinion submitted to the Parliamentary Committee, he joined another former CJI Ranjan Gogoi in questioning the ‘comprehensive powers’ given ‘wide powers’ without setting any guidelines for the use of ‘discretion’ to the Election Commission in the proposed Constitutional Amendment Act.

Justice Chandrachud and another former CJI J. S. Khehar is going to appear before the committee headed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP PP Chaudhary on 11 July, so that members can interact with them on the provisions of the bill and know their views on their questions.

Questions raised on the widespread powers given to the Election Commission

Questioning the comprehensive powers given to the Election Commission in the Bill, Justice Chandrachud said, ‘Unlimited rights can enable the election body to reduce or extend the constitutionally compulsory 5 -year period of the tenure of the state assembly. Especially on the pretext that elections together with the Lok Sabha are not viable.

He said that the Constitution should define, paint and structures the circumstances under which ECI can use this power. Two former CJIs, Justice UU Lalit and Justice Ranjan Gogoi appeared before the committee in February and March respectively. Sources have said that during the conversation, Justice Gogoi said that he agrees with the concern of some members regarding the excessive power given to the Commission.

Elections should be held in order

Justice Lalit had suggested that elections should be conducted not simultaneously, but in order, as the tenure of the remaining assemblies aimed at making the election cycles synchronized could be legally challenged. However, the three former Chief Justice have not questioned the constitutionality of the concept of elections simultaneously.

Conspiracy to seduce voters

In his written opinion, Justice Chandrachud said that by holding elections simultaneously, there will be no violation of the voters’ right to choose the delegates and the bill ensures that voters are represented by their duly elected MPs or MLAs. The argument opposing to hold elections simultaneously is based on the fact that Indian voters are innocent and can be easily seduced.

Justice Chandrachud said, ‘The argument that gradual elections are part of the original structure of the Constitution (part of the principles of federalism or democracy) is not correct. The gradual time of elections cannot be considered as a specialty of the original constitution, it is a distant thing to be considered an irreversible feature.

Small parties threatened by holding elections simultaneously

Justice Chandrachud’s opinion is not devoid of caution about some characteristics of the Bill or the possible effects of it on it. He expressed concern that small or regional parties would be marginalized due to the dominance of national parties with better resources by holding elections together.

He said that this is an important policy aspect that needs to be paid to legislatively. To ensure equal opportunities among political parties, the rules that control electoral campaigns, especially spending on election campaign must be strengthened.

Party spends more money than fixed limit

Justice Chandrachud said that the maximum limit has been fixed on the amount to be spent by the candidate during the election campaign during the election campaign, but there is no such limit on the expenditure incurred by political parties themselves during the election campaign. This difference in regulation goes in favor of parties with more financial resources in the electoral process.

Also read:- Do not pay attention to rumors! Election Commission said- no change in the process of voter list updation in Bihar
